My PC's brightness is set to high so I see it fine but yeah, on my phone it's not easy to see. Maybe you should try a lighter shade of blue or maybe a green-blue?
El was definitely the right person Annabeth was looking for. Humble but honest, a hard combo to find. Most people would just accept praise or downplay their ability to the extreme. A balance was needed. Annabeth walked towards the dock's district. "Aye I do. Well... Somewhat actually. I don't know him personally, we've never spoken before. But during the battle just a week ago, I stationed myself at the front gates. When the enemy broke through many defenders were lost as I tried my best to hold my own against the commander of the enemy forces. Fortunately another warrior arrived to thin the numbers, causing them to scatter so that I could focus my attention towards their leader. He had the look of a seaman of him; someone used to the salty waves and rough oceans. It would certainly explain how he handled himself so calmly in the midst of chaos. He skewered soldiers left and right as if they were nothing more than fishes in a barrel. He seemed a stoic sort, as after the battle I've only seen him alone, healing when he was taken to the temple due to his wounds. Still I believe he's a man of good judgement, steady aim, and strong will. A perfect addition to our team yeah?"

Though it embarrassed Annabeth that despite knowing his deeds and actions, she doesn't even know his name. Calling him "the fisherman" felt dishonorable for all the things he did that day. He was arguably more useful in defending the gate than the rest of the city's militia, who had either died or fled once the marauders had broken through. "Fortunately, while I was assisting the sailors with moving the dead to be dumped into the ocean, I saw him head into what I presume is his home. I figured we'll pay him a visit and see if he's doing well."

A short walk to the docks and Annabeth would soon find where the mysterious man lived. To her surprise however, she also spotted another visitor knocking on his door. Annabeth vaguely recognized her as the apprentice of a local wise man of some sort. The details eluded her, but she did see her a lot more after the battle of Tamberle, tending to the wounded. She could be a useful addition to the party as well though Annabeth knew nothing about her aside from her ability as a healer, and not even that. "Hoy there! Are you here to see the fisherman as well?"

"Well, not to seem rude, but I had heard your song and watched sing for the children. I recognize some of them as orphans due to the terrible battle that had happened here not too long ago. As a servant to Askari it is my duty to tend to the innocent such as them, but my own duties have made me too busy to care for the young ones. That being said, for you to go out of your way to care for them, in any way you can, is something admirable and trustworthy." Annabeth said with a smile as she shook El's hand. She didn't want to bore her with exposition like she did with Maren and Cassius (it was probably why she wasn't asked to stick around), so Annabeth was just honest and to the point. "The town is filled with strong warriors but I can only trust a few. And for me trust is far more important than skill at arms. Seeing your good nature, I feel that I can trust you to watch my back as we hunt the beasts that plague the swamp, more so than I could a craven who'll run at the first sign of overwhelming odds. If you'll accompany me, I'll gladly lay my life down for you."

Annabeth bowed deeply as her father taught her to do when speaking to a lady or lord. If El does join, that'll be one more person Annabeth would have at her side. Though she knew she needed more. And while she might trust El, Annabeth couldn't be certain about her combat prowess which is still needed for hunting monsters. Annabeth does need a skilled fighter, one who won't be so prideful that they wouldn't work with her, but also one who is available to assist. That gave Annabeth an idea; she remembered an unusual warrior who had helped her defend the northern gates. He appeared to have been a mere fisherman, but he had also slain quite a few of those mad dog mercenaries with his spears, and moving swiftly and striking with deadly precision. He would no doubt be a boon in hunting the swamp monster. While Annabeth's arms and armor would help her survive against a beast, mobility was just as important and he was swift of foot and steady of hand.

"It will not just be you and I of course. I actually have another in mind who I think I can trust to fight alongside us. If you're willing, we should go speak to him together to see if he'll want to join us for this hunt."

@Haeo

Definitely. I'll have Annabeth write out her exact thoughts about Skurr once I recruit El, he's likely the next person I'll be looking for.
Annabeth left the guild with a fat purse and a plan. She had explored the swamps outside of town before, so she was certain she could find the beast easily. If she could get some allies to join her, surely this monster wouldn't stand a chance against them. All she needed was to find worthy warriors and allies. She knew there were plenty of strongmen in town but she couldn't go trusting anyone with the strength to swing a sword; they may flee at the first sign of danger or prove to be cravens who care more for making a quick buck than honor. Not to mention anyone in town who knew Annabeth also didn't really like her; the town guard already thinks less of her even after her part in defending the town, and her own church thinks she's breaking her vows by going into battle. But they just don't understand her. She can't just provide assistance passively through prayer and healing. Askari was an almighty goddess, but she cannot protect those who are not willing to protect themselves. And Annabeth was more than willing to do the protecting for her.

As she was wandering through town she heard a wonderful song. It wasn't a song or voice she was familiar with, perhaps it was a traveling bard? Annabeth quicken her pace to find the source when she spotted a fetching young woman singing to the children. Many children ended up orphaned due to the recent battle, and Annabeth had her hands full recovering from her wounds while doing some repairs around town, she couldn't do anything for the children. This made Annabeth want to ask this stranger to join her; though she didn't look like a warrior her kindness showed the right sort of character that Annabeth was looking for. The type of person who's willing to go out of their way to help and be kind to others for the sake of it, instead of merely chase coin.

As the woman mounted her horse Annabeth quickly trotted towards her. "Hold there m'lady on the steed! Hold I say!" Running beside the woman Annabeth tried to catch her attention. "My name is Annabeth Elliot, a knight errant of the Goddess Askari! I know this may seem sudden, but I am wondering if you're willing to embark on a quest with me to purge the lands near this town of a dire threat."
@Haeo

I dunno how Annabeth personally feels about Skurr beyond the fact she acknowledges he fought against the invaders, but if it matters she could seek him out for this monster hunt. Being a fisherman good with throwing spears, he'd be perfect as a mobile hunter in the swamps around the fire-fens.
@ArkmageddonCat

There was a 1 week timeskip, so your characters could have arrived in town and been vetted during that timeskip.
@Royaletutor59

Certainly. Let's meet up!
And posted. If anyone wants to join Annabeth, I'll try my hand at hunting the mysterious monster in the swamp. I could use any help you can give me.
Annabeth moved her arm carefully as she took off the bandages. Thanks to the healers her arm had made a full recovery, and quickly at that. She was glad her knight career could still continue, but now she had a different problem. With Lady Maren gone, Cassius dismissed Annabeth from service. For her services however, she got to keep his sword as well as received a strange key from him, but she didn't know where or who it belonged to. Once more Annabeth was left on her own. But she didn't let that bring her down, she could still find some glory for herself! She just needed to go out and find it.

After the battle of Tamberle, Annabeth had helped herself to her share of the plunder from battle, gathering usable weapons and armor. Her own fear was superior, but she could use the money to buy herself some supplies. Sturdy gear for long travel as well as a horse. And if possible, any rumor or leads to find some adventure or glory for herself. So Annabeth headed towards the merchant's guild in hopes of selling her gear and finding a quest. There she saw the posting to hunt down a mysterious beast in the swamps; this sounded like a worthy quest! However she wasn't going to do this on her own. She needed to form a party of maybe four or five people at the very least. Taking the bounty Annabeth sold the gear for extra coin and looked for possible adventurers willing to hunt this beast!
