Why?
So that people might actually talk to me? Why would I want that?
Because that's what this site is for? I guess, but I though it was a site for finding and helping make interesting stories...
It is? Then why would you say it is for meeting people? Oh, that's the only way to make the stories? I guess I'll add more to this then.

When It come to role-playing I like well constructed and interesting worlds. Magic, advanced tech, strange world? I'm in, or may at least lurk. My main enjoyment in role-playing is in the story and the characters, and often take the story five or six different ways in my head then what actually happens, often with a romance plot in mind. Action is secondary, or even tertiary. However I myself am (relatively) new to forum Role-playing and most of my experience comes from playing and GMing a table top RPG.

I am also pretty good at designing role play setting and such so if you would like help creating your RP I would be more then happy to assist.

Oh, and if you want to talk go ahead and PM me.

Woot! transferring.

As for the dorms I'd be good either way. Any girls put in Ian's room would have to romance check against his daily morning routine though, even if he isn't trying to show off...
So has Jae Hwan.

And Luca and Ian don't get along if we go by Zodiacs, Tiger and Monkey are not really compatible.
So, for those of us that have been at the school for a while, what do you say we make a bit of history? Set up current/past friendships, and possibly dating history or past crushes/attempts?

I would like to reserve Monkey if I may?
I'm going to officially bow out. My apologies for not doing so before hand, but I have been trying to get myself to post. I give the host, or if the host allow, any player that request it control over Zachary.

Quanze was happy. Quanze was able to cook and travel at the same time while getting paid for it. Hopefully Quanze would be able to explore the flavors of Alexandria while the Prima Vista was on site. Quanze would have to ask someone to go get some new ingredients because there wouldn't be time to look around personally, but even then hopefully whoever was sent could get something new. Quanze would have to be specific when putting together his requirements.

Quanze then heard the slight release of gas that meant that the stew he was preparing for the Tantalus group was ready. Filled with a verity of meats and veggies the stew should give the group plenty of energy, and it had a strong mix of flavors that they should all enjoy. Quanze had also baked some fresh bread and carved out the center which he then filled with his stew. He fully expected some of the bread to remain, but hopefully the crew would enjoy their meal. Quanze put all of the food onto a tray and carried it around to the crew, with a cup of well balanced tea to complement each plate.

"I have prepared a dish I think you will all enjoy. If any of you have problems with it I would be more then happy to hear your feedback. This simple dish is a favourite at my restaurant and will fill you with energy and nutrients." Quanze handed the leader, Baku was it? a bread-bowl first, then circled around to the human messing around with some radio equipment, another human sitting on a barrel. Finally Quanze got to the demi-feline on the floor. One glance at her hands was more then enough to tell him what he needed to know. "And your hands are far too filthy to enjoy my food, why don't you clean them before eating? That way the oils and grease on your hand doesn't ruin the flavor," Quanze's head shook side to side as the dish was passed to her, with a small glass of milk instead of tea.
Very nice idea and I would be interested in what the bet was. Of course, that would be after the bet is settled, I doubt you want the bet influenced.

The Good

I love seeing the characters that people come up with and the worlds that the host build. Watching a group of characters interact can bring up some interesting situations. I enjoy creating the world, setting, and characters even more. My favorite part of role-playing is creating a world and seeing how people react to it, what characters they make, and how the world I started transforms. Another thing I enjoy is the friends you can make along the way. You never know who you might run into, or who they are, until after you have started role-playing with them or have created something interesting.

(Now, time to rant? not quite yet...)

The Bad

Poorly made or explained worlds hurt to see. Especially when they are based on such a good idea. I would much rather see a repeated design that is well made then a good idea thrown in the trash because the person that came up with it wasn't able to put the idea in their head on paper (or in this case on the forum) or they just didn't think it threw. Poorly played out characters are almost as bad.

Players dropping out or arguing OOC is another annoyance, as are GMs.

(Now I get to Rant, Right?)

The Ugly

People. People will always hold this spot on my list. Specifically the people who just don't work well with others. I'm talking about the host that don't bend, the players who think they are the center of the universe, or even worse, the host that if anything makes joining or participating in their game even harder when you try to point out a problem or mistake.

I have this one time (I won't use names) when a game was hosted by three people. The RP was an interesting Idea, the world was fairly well constructed and explained (though looking at it now I see one or two things that should have been explained better) and the characters looked like they would be fun. So I went to start playing. Made my character. The host didn't like some of it, so I changed or explained what I didn't like. Instead of working with me to allow my idea to work (which was actually quite easy to do) I was forced to make my character the weakest in the RP. While others had the ability to destroy buildings and city blocks, I was only slightly better then a normal person.

The next worst thing a host can do is ruin a players planned arc when they were obviously working with another player on it. For instance, in an unnamed RP, When I tried growing a character through interaction, the host caused an event that threw hours of planning with another player out the window. This lead to a creature described to be very powerful that fell in maybe 5 seconds IGT, while at the same time causing a panic that killed people. Things went downhill from there and when I pointed out this was a bad idea IN PM they got annoyed and ignored it only to have several others make similar comments in OOC.

The worst thing a host can do however is not know their own RP, and when a player points out a mistake change the world to make it fit, rather then change the mistake.

Ahem, enough about host. Now onto other players.

Where to begin? Oh. There. Players making characters that are not only based on, but meant to be, a character from somewhere else and they change some key element. For instance, having Link (from LoZ) trying to conquer the world, or Mario (from Mario) actually be some kind of [Redacted] that hides it all of the time, only to have the character break cover in the very first post. The next worst thing is when the player obviously doesn't understand their character (yes, this happens even when players make OCs). If you make a character, you should know who they are and what they would do. Someone should be able to put you in a situation completely unrelated to the RP, and you would be able to have that character interact with its surroundings without having to change anything about your character, or breaking your character.

Oh, I'm out of stuff to say off of the top of my head? Guess I'll come back later and edit if anything else occurs to me.
1. America. As with the others I don't know much about Chinese culture, and I'm one of those people that don't like misrepresenting other cultures. (Ran an RP based in Japan once. Did around 40-50 hours of research on the school system and basics of culture alone. Not fun.)

2. I prefer using Anime images myself, but I’m comfortable with any form.

3. I like Hobbies/skills better then MAs now that I think about it. Allows for more verity and closer representations of each character.
@aeuternus If we make it so that the twelve main Zodiacs must be taken before any other animals are used, or add only a couple of others, then you can prevent the overcrowding easily. As a host You have the power.
World builder+character interaction is easy. We all go to a boarding school that allows its students to leave campus on a regular basis. This puts us in a closed environment most of the time, but allows us to explore and create the world as the opportunity presents itself.

As for the Gang Wars idea I don't really like it, nor does it truly fit with the theme of the Zodiacs. Many of the Zodiacs work well together most of the time. I would think that starting out without knowing each other, and all of us ending up in the same club somehow would be much more interesting, with each of us falling into our natural friendships and rivals.

As for the inclusion of Cat, we could create and include a group of lesser Zodiacs based on animals not part of the normal set, each somehow connected to the main group. That would allow for a much wider verity of characters, including your cat.

As for the Martial Arts, our characters could instinctively know the art but not use it and we can create the missing ones by looking at the animal in question. Same with the elemental magics.
