So, wait. Why not just, IDK, make the PCs descendants of the Sages or newly awakened sages or any sort of chosen figure that got some hero juice from the godesses? You know, something that'd be less convoluted than everyone being the usual blonde sword guy even when they're not, and this way you completely avoid having to bring up timelines too.

Right, I want you all to know I'm still alive and interested and hopefully have a slot. I just happened to get absolutely steamrolled by finals, which kind of demanded my whole attention this past week and change what with me leaving a bunch of final papers for the last second. Should be cleared up now, was trying to write a new character which I'll get to.

It was a poke to get more signs of life. Generally the less active a game seems the less inclined the players are to stick with it when they could just go find a more active one. It's why I feel collab posts often do more harm than good, rather than have a string of activity you get nothing while people put their ideas together, and then they also kinda shut out other players from participating in whatever events the collab covers. But yeah with the GM proper gone and people not posting IC in five days, felt I might as well ask.

Stickfighting is pretty universal and well respected, definitely a genuine skill. There's at least one school of traditional japanese martial arts that uses sticks shorter than a quarterstaff (but somewhat longer than regular canes) as a hardcounter to kenjutsu.
