Melanie
9:30AM
She smiled to herself as she clicked the orange sign out button on her screen. 'MelBelle has successfully signed out' greeted her pale green gaze before she comfortably clicked the little red x and powered off her monitor. Untangling herself from her sheets, she peeled them back from the over sized mattress that dominated the space that was her bedroom. Sunday meant house chores but, once that was over it also meant shopping. Melanie loved shopping.
With her arms filled with sheets and pillow cases, she opened the bedroom door with her foot, dropping the mass of linens onto the floor in the small hallway. Immediately, the chilled air from the AC caused goosebumps to ripple over her naked flesh.
'Damn. Has my AC always worked this well?' Rubbing her palms up her arms, she pulled open the closet door for the laundry center, deciding that the hot water of the shower was going to be more necessary this morning. As quickly as she could manage, she punched the buttons, turned the dials and poured the detergent until her sheets were safely on their way to becoming cleansed again.
Darting into the bathroom across the hall, she flicked on the switch and reached into the shower until the water was running full force and warming up. Almost autonomously, she seated herself on the porcelain to relieve her bladder, sighing as she did so.
'Good God! I haven't even had anything to drink today!' Blotting herself off and closing the lid, she resolved to flush after she'd had her fill of the hot, steamy goodness along her skin.
She hopped into the shower and methodically washed her skin, choosing the strawberry scented wash today among the apricot and coconut options it sat next to. She was oddly grateful that she still had the apartment to herself though, she was definitely starting to feel the strain financially with bills.
'Having roommates really couldn't be that bad, could it? Though... Where will I put all my lovely bottles in the bathroom if I have to share the space?' She idly matched her shampoo to her body wash and let all the suds find their way down the drain before lathering her hair with a neutral scented, color lasting conditioner. Out of practice, she braided her hair down her back and reached for the clip on the curtain to pin it up atop her head. Water off, she pulled the towel off from the shower rod and unceremoniously dried off her body.
Sliding the curtain open was always her least favorite part. Melanie groaned in preparation before ripping it back with a loud
whoosh.
Once again, her skin resembled that of a freshly plucked chicken and she grumbled under her breath. She flushed the toilet and reached for the cabinet above it. Several bottles greeted her gaze and she found an odd comfort as she picked five from the collection. Moving to the sink, she lined them up in her preferred order and began applying them to her body. One for face only, one for the parts of her body where hair unfortunately grew, one for her most intimate parts, and the last two for absolutely everything. Despite the tedious process and amount of layers she'd just rubbed into her flesh, the process always left Melanie feeling refreshed.
Clean.Returning the bottles carefully to their shelf, she completed her morning routine; brushing her teeth, washing out the conditioner and leaving her hair to air dry while she adorned her face with a sharp line of eye liner and a bold red lipstick. She quickly tiptoed across the hall back into her room and picked out her clothes for the day, deciding on a
cropped white shirt with her favorite pair of black shorts. Melanie squealed lightly to herself, glad that the shorts had survived the summer week and, despite it being laundry day, she'd get to wear them. As she tugged them on, her stomach growled and she grimaced. With new motivation, she grabbed her over-sized plaid shirt off of the hooks behind her door and threw on the closest pair of flip flops before heading out her bedroom and out the apartment. Cautiously, she double checked that her keys were in her bag before locking her door behind her.
Her chores would still be there when she got back from eating, right? It's not like someone else wanted to wash her clothes for her.
'Pfft. I wish,' she silently thought to herself, heading out of the apartment building and to 'The Queens Orchid' for a massive waffle and the tallest coffee she could afford.
