If you're intending to post a character capable of reaching temperatures that high, you're sooorely mistaken. That's instantaneous incineration.

Mmm. Is that somewhere around 5500-5700 celcius?

Might go up to 6000, but yeah.

Green, that is almost the exact heat of the surface of the sun.

Modern flamethrowers can get up to temperatures of 1,200 Celsius, and that's a low-tier weapon.

Clockwork Man has a 5000 degrees celsius plasma grenade.

Though at this tier most people can escape a grenade.

I mean, is it an instantaneous heat, or is it sustained? Cause I think a sustained temp of 10k degrees would incinerate everyone in here. Rock would melt, skin would vaporize, air fucking boils. It's pretty nasty stuff.

Well, as this is for a heat mage, the overall potential is much higher than that of a plasma grenade, as he can manipulate it into various forms, ranging from a slung molten bolt of tungsten, to a thermobaric dust cloud.
The maximum temperature should be no higher than 5900, as that is the boiling point of tugsten, which means energy loss from evaporation of metal, so a defense good enough, ceramic for example, will keep this at bay for a while. Also, i plan on having a mana pool, the cost required to generate and manipulate dictated by such parameters as mass and acceleration. Morever, there will be a bottleneck, restricting the amount of force/mass the character can generate per post, widened only by prepping.

Well if we're gonna say it can melt Tungsten, then it caps out at 6191 F or 3422 C.

I think he means evaporate it, not just melt it.

Ahem. Melting does not equal vapor energy loss. Boiling does, and it happens at around 5900 C.

BTW, can the instataneous temperature be higher than sustained? Beacause im pretty sure that with scattered in the air, with an increased surface contacting the oxygen there, the nanothermite would react even faster, releasing a lot more energy in a momentary wave of hellfire.

I if i get an okay, then please write the highest acceptable temperature.

Well that depends on how YOU want to utilize the heat based attacks. Obviously this guy's going to be a high tier so go nuts, come up with how you're going to use it and THEN we'll tell you the temperature.

Hey, so after taking a long hard look on the strength and speed levels of each tier, we came up with the following system to keep track of it.

Each tier has the following;
Strength; 1-10
Speed; 1-10

Characters balance their physical abilities accordingly at a 1:1 ratio. Additional magical powers/abilities limits how high they can go, but there´s no separate "Ability" Scale. Basically, if Bob the fighter wants 8 strength, he can only have 2 speed. Or 6 speed and 4 strength, and so on. This scales in the sense that the top of each tier is the lowest of the next. Intermediate speed goes up to Mach 1, while high tier goes from Mach 1 to Mach 10. Intermediate strength goes up to 10 tons, while high tier goes from 10 to 100. I forgot what the low tier limits were, but the same system applies.

How does that sound? It makes the job of us reviewers hell of a lot easier, both in knowing the exact limit of characters, and keeping characters balanced according to one another. It´s more of a polish than an actual -change-

With no separate ability scale then magic people can be as physically able as people who want to specialize in physical abilities. No more point in physical based characters and they already don't get a lot of love right now to begin with.

This would be a game breaker to me.

The scale would still exist. We just can't put it in there for others to scale by. Because there's no way each and every player would know what 1-10 on the ability scale would amount to. That is something we, the reviewers would have to discuss amongst ourselves after reading through the powerset on each and every character upon submission.

We would merely look at the abilities the character possess, and scale the Strength and Speed scales up and down accordingly.

Meaning, someone would -not- be able to have a 5:5 Str/Speed ratio AND uber magical powers.

This is why I liked my Bleach RP.

Everyone was -equal- to start out with, but the numbers in their different stuff was different, so they all specialized in something. It wouldn't work here without a pretty big overhaul of pretty much every character.

But essentially, it was broken down into, let's use two characters, A and B.

a)

Zanjutsu - 6
Kido - 3
Reiatsu - 5
Hakudo - 6
Shunpo - 9
Intelligence - 5

--

B)

Zanjutsu - 5
Kido - 6
Reiatsu - 5
Hakudo - 3
Shunpo - 6
Intelligence - 9
Both are essentially as strong as each other, but have different specialties to make the fight interesting. It worked wonders in Bleach, to avoid things like one character is as physically strong as another, without having to do as much training and things like that.

Problem is always that the tier system doesn't have a proportionate increase.

It's more like, lifting a tonne of weight, lifting a hundred tonnes over the course of two tier levels. You're almost forced to min-max.

Yeah, that's why I think the Bleach system worked. It was less about exact amounts and more, "my guy has more strength, no need to argue it" but because of that, he may have lower defenses, or something.
