I think you missed my point entirely.

Green, making a projectile or cutting weapon vibrate is just as absurd in its nature as putting a 6 pound weight on an arrow and saying that this will improve its penetrative capability by increasing the arrows momentum. It could indeed increase the momentum, but only if the arrow was actualy capable of accelerating to the same speeds with this gear, which it cant, and if the weight wouldn't impede the arrows aerodynamic properties, which it does.

Now look at mine and Guru's arguments, and you will see that this comparison is no hyperbole, oscillating bullets and swords being just as absurd as an arrow with a weight.

I'm not arguing against that. Sheesh. I'm saying that we're perfectly capable of hand waving now and then for the rule of cool as long as the concept of the thing in question is clear.

So to clarify;
I am -not- saying a vibroblade would work in real life.
I -am- saying that we don't need to curb the concept of it.

Double clarifying;

If someone says that they have a thing that shoots singing bullets, we don't really need to ask them how the bullets are capable of singing. The point is that they are, and that's all we need to know. If the creator wants to add a sixteen-page technical schematic on how the bullets manage to sing, then go ahead, but it is by no means -required-

By no means am I saying vibri blades aren't possible... But when it comes to battle... I Will question the effectiveness of them.

Ahoy Guru, nice to see another of the older guys gathering back here.

Like Green, I'm not exactly seeing the problem... If I said I had a sword that turns itself ablaze because magic, people wouldn't have a problem with it, despite it being even more impractical than a vibra-blade would be. I don't think simply saying "this sword functions with false science instead of false magic" should make it completely exempt.

After all, characters using such weapons usually have reasons behind why they're unaffected by their drawbacks (i.e. a fire-blade user just happens to be heat-resistant), or some other pseudo-technology that makes that weapon viable for them. Yes, the effects of a weapon need clear explanation (just like fake materials and magic systems), but while their method of doing so should be stated, 'semi-realistic' fights simply can't happen without some form of handwaving there.

Which is basically what I'm saying. You cannot just simply take something and say it works... Just because I say it does.

Mkay. But i resent this decision, as this is handwaving taken to an extreme. Justification of how a weapon functions is one matter, but the functoning itself is another. Vibration isn't just why a weapon "cuts better" (it doesn't) - it's an independant type of damaging which is in no way a mere addition to the orthodox slashing motion. Compare it to just having a monoatomic never dulling edge, and you'll see what i mean.

*takes out his "Epeen Warrior Bushido: Arena roleplay edition" handbook and writes down a single note, reading "Vibrobull - never in the sanctuary of my personal warforge", closing it afterwards and hiding it in his pocket*

Hey. It's not a decision though. I hold no power here, I'm just telling you what I think about it. My word is by no means final.

Just saying this now.

If someone enters with that kind of weapon. And you say what their weapon does. That's character control, yo. And that's no good.

On another note: Being that I have an extensive history in Accepting/Denying Character Sheets... I'd like to offer my assistance in that.

We currently have three reviewers, if one of us drops the position then you'll have it. Unless someone else puts their name in, contests you as a reviewer, et cetera.

That and you have yet to even enter a character.

Yes, no more arguing, no more arguments, but that does not make the ones already stated any less viable. Vibroblades are wrong, but somehow accepted.

Anyways, goodnight everybody, im off to sleep now.
Guru, i, alas, have no character yet as well, to battle you.

But i guess that participating nigh daily in the multiverse's OOC from its very beginning and occasionaly saying reasonable things has earned me the right to become a reviewer even without one.
