Hey all. With the release of Ace Combat: Infinity of late, and my burning desire to run a modern aviation-based and themed game with some kind of storyline and plot to it, I've been tossing the idea of throwing up an int check.
The game wouldn't be set in the actual Ace Combat continuity, but would be in an alternate timeline to our own, where a global disaster occurred around the turn of the century, resulting in a change of the economic and political situation in the early 21st century, as a number of powerful corporations backed by a shadowy organization twist the reconstruction of society to their own ends and means, resulting in a global conflict involving high-tech weapons and equipment in a somewhat shattered world.
The PC's would be a small strike group based aboard an advanced aircraft carrier, flying aircraft refitted with new technology and equipment, operating as part of a joint group against the enemy. I have already worked out something of a plot progression to build upon, and there'll be plenty of opportunities for character interaction alongside the high-flying action, and there'll be a lot of surprising twists and turns.
I'm looking for about a minimum of four people for a core group, who can keep posting and keep things moving, as I don't want this to get bogged down. A maximum of about 10 would be ideal. I've got most of the OOC ready to go as soon as people join up.
Feel free to ask me questions - a lot of stuff like plane stats and what's available will be answered in the OOC.
To answer a couple of inevitable questions though, it will only be aircraft from the 1960's onwards, though some of the most advanced (F-22 etc) will be restricted and might not be available to begin with, so you have something to work towards. You will also all be piloting tactical aircraft. That is, not heavy bombers, transports or helicopters.
The plot will involve plenty of the expected Ace Combat shenanigans, such as canyon flying aerial fortresses, and other hi-tech weaponry and equipment, as well as plenty of real-world tech, strategies and the like as well. Hopefully, it will be exciting and action-packed, and will interest people enough to actually get somewhere!
