Right, I think I managed to finish up Strix. He's now a 'paranoid' conspiracy theorist detective who dresses like a creepy owl creature to hunt down the totally real and not at all in his head conspiracy that killed his parents while using their fortune and massive multi-industry company plus his own technological and physical abilities to keep himself viable when said conspiracy includes super-beings and supernatural forces while spending his off-hours as John Keller, totally-not-crazy-conspiracy-nut and upstanding CEO, Inventor and Philanthropist.

Also he sometimes fights crime along the way. XD

I agree, the finished product is quite nice. Strix is accepted.

Mat, your sheet is progressing nicely. But Arachnid needs to have some kind of personal shortcoming that makes a team dynamic an interesting proposition. Sure she has a checkered past but that doesn't really mean much if she has no personal flaws now. And I personally think her super-strength is a bit too high, especially since currently the only people stronger in the RP are a Superman-type and a gargantuan mass-changing metal man. That much strength in a highly agile form almost makes all the other melee-types besides Neutro look superfluous. Her strength should be downgraded to be more on the same level as fighters like SilverWolf and Blast Girl. Even without being able to lift five tons, she can get a lot of traction out of wall-crawling and shooting webs.

Also you're going to have to offer a plausible-sounding explanation for how she got her powers from those spiders. But it really might be easier just to say she's not a freak lab accident but that the Awakening occurred right after she was bitten by the spiders, and whatever changed the spiders combined with the completely mysterious forces of the Awakening changed her into one of the most unique Metahumans around. Food for thought.

Codename: Wenchang

Age: 43

Gender: Male

Place of Birth: Shanghai

Affiliations: League of Heroes member

Occupation: Professor of Chemistry

Appearance:

Powers: Dimensional Door - Tom can open portals that take the appearance of a iridescent water. The portals lead to a sort of pocket dimension, which takes the form of a large library-room. The room has two tiers, the second of which is a balcony running around the walls and can be accessed by a spiral stair case. There are no windows or doors and the every wall is covered in books. There is also a desk and chair, and a multitude of items of interest reside in perfect order in the six display tables within the room. He likes to keep a wide range of chemicals in his library, it practically doubles as a home laboratory. He also keeps a wide range of weapons he has obtained, almost everything from punch knives to machine guns to pole arms. He also likes it to use it store his more outlandish biochemical experiments (poisons, gases and sprays).
Tom opens the door by either placing his palms together and then pulling them apart, creating a column of the iridescent liquid between them,or by moving his palm in the shape of a circle or oval to create a 'doorway'. The portal disappears after automatically after 5 seconds but Tom can choose to end it sooner. Anything that enters the portal appears in the middle of the library. Portals out of the library lead to the place of the portal into it, or back to a portal which Tom creates.

Skills: Tom has a wide and eclectic knowledge, his time spent studying as a recluse has given him a particularly expert knowledge biochemistry, pure mathematics and pure chemistry. As well as this he has a good grounding in fighting, with an emphasis on jeet kune do.

Equipment/Resources: Tom is moderately wealthy, but his real value lies in his vast collection of books, objects of interest and chemicals stored in his Library. Tom's mask has the ability to be used as a microscope, allowing him to analyse trace evidence left by criminals, as well as functioning as a moderately powerful gas mask. Tom has access to a wide range of weapons at any time thanks to his power and commonly fights with debilitating chemicals. While he prefers not to use lethal force, he would have no qualms about using highly illegal weapons (chemical or otherwise) if he judges it is the only way to achieve his objective.

Weaknesses: He is near the top end of the fitness spectrum, however in terms of physical strength and stamina he is completely human. He has no power-bolstered resistances or strengths against anything.

Psychological Profile: Tom has a disillusioned outlook on life, believing that he will eventually grow bored of everything. Boredom is Tom's greatest fear, as a result he seeks constant stimulus. He has no qualms about using his power for personal gain, however there is not much he wants that his power can get him. Tom feels spiritually empty and as such has joined the league and begun fighting crime in an effort to achieve his own enlightenment.

Tom is generally friendly, but sarcastic. He can come cross as somewhat of a smart-ass. He seems easy going, but normally he just doesn't care about most things.

Biography: Tom started out in the depths of Shanghai working as an information broker. He became an info broker because he was obsessed with making money when he was younger, so that he would be able to go anywhere and experience anything he wanted to. He thought that being an information broker was the fastest way to earn money using his natural intelligence. His father was a computer science expert and his mother was a sound engineer. He took a great interest in his parents work and a good grounding in both fields put him head and shoulders above the rest of the new, rather amateur field. He was smart, and had a natural affinity for it, and amassed secrets and money at a startling rate. Naturally this didn't go unnoticed, he started drawing too much attention from the gangs. Normally Tom managed to stay one step ahead of them, however he let his guard down and got caught up in an elaborate trap. After what he estimated was three days of interrogation, Tom awakened, he first managed to transport links of the handcuffs away, and then himself to his library. He rested and healed, and took his time creating a plan to escape which he enacted on his return. Within a fortnight, he had vanished from Shanghai, leaving no trail behind him.

It was after this the boredom set in. He spent years in his library, reading and learning, coming back only to find more stock for his library, or test his new skills. Soon he became bored of this as well. He felt that he had exhausted business, academia and physical pursuits. He was not a religious person. Both of his parents were atheists, so it was with low expectations he began to train as a vigilante. Tom's nihilism has its basis in the fact that he has found everything he has put his mind to rather mudane, there has always been a set end point and he always knew how to reach it. He came to America to join the League, and while he's not on League mssions he works as a professor of biochemistry.

Please note, this is a work in progress.

Name: Erwin Jaeger

Codename: Accelerator

Age: 18

Gender: Male

Place of Birth: Dortmund, Germany

Affiliations: None worth noting. (right now)

Occupation: ?Intern at Keller-corp...?/ engineering student

Appearance: (working on it)

Powers:
Erwin's body doubles as a powerful magnet. Capable of attracting or repulsing metallic objects.
He can manipulate the size and strength of these magnetic fields, targeting a single object, or every metal object around him as he pleases.
In effect this means he can deflect small arms fire, easily disarm people holding metallic weapons like guns, or even sending small objects out flying at high speeds.

Skills: Growing up in a family of engineers, aswell as his choice of education, Erwin is slowly becoming an accomplished engineer himself. Capable of understanding, dismantling and reassembling most machinery he encounters.
However, he is not an expert yet.

Equipment/Resources:
-Metal harness: In his spare-time Erwin engineered himself a metal based harness. Aside from providing protecting from lesser attacks, this harness is able to carry and conceal a pair of metal pipes on his back.
The harness is lean and designed to easily fit under some baggy clothes. Making them easy to conceal to people who hold no prior knowledge about them.
It comes with a pair of springs on its back, each of which can hold a metal pipe. Which can be launched into the air for easy access.
The fact that it is made of metal give Erwin to ability to manipulate it at will. Meaning he can use his own powers to 'drag' the harness, and his body inside it, over obstacles or quickly away from danger.
-The harness comes with a pair of matching metal bracelets which are easy to conceal under most types of sleeves. Inside each of these bracelets fits a small stack of quarters(10).
When a powerful magnetic force is applied, these coins can easily be fired one by one, effectively creating a wrist gun.
-metal pipes(2). Though simple in design, the fact that they are made of metal means that Erwin can toss them around like a jedi using the force. These metal pipes can be concealed in his metal harness

Weaknesses:

Psychological Profile: Erwin is young and in-experienced. Still, he witnessed more than enough brutalities in his lifetime. He always hated feeling powerless, being forced to watch.
But now he has power, and he is eager to use it. No longer will he wait for the authorities to show up, no longer will he wait for the people with power to come to the rescue. He IS someone with power, and he will rescue those in need.
Even if he is unsure how to act, he will not hesitate. He will impulsively jump into the fray. Armed with his new found powers, and the confidence they give, He will be the hero he needed when growing up... Or die trying.

Biography: <highely WIP>
Born in Germany, moved to the US for his studies. (it would look good on his resume)
He witnessed some atrocities that got someone close to him killed.
He unlocked his power and began working as a crime-fighting vigilante. Mostly dealing with muggers, rapists and violent drunks.
Something... Something... metaphobia... Something... (reminder)

An Outsider A Glorious Failure

Member Seen 1 yr ago

Name: Thomas Springsteen

Codename: Hi-Voltage, but goes by Volt for short.

Age: 22

Gender: Male

Place of Birth: Inverness, Scotland

Affiliations: He has a good working relationship with Britain's police force, who seem to embrace him as their 'superpowered' backup, despite him technically being a vigilante. Clara Lord, his ex-girlfriend, is a fully trained nurse, and has patched him up on more than one occasion. Szymon Glowski, an IT consultant he once saved from a mugging, provides him with 'cyber' back up, such as hacking, tracking and even setting up a Hi-Voltage fansite. As far as superpowered allies go he has been involved in a few team-ups but seems content to work alone for the most part, making his acceptance of the Leagues invitations surprising. He and vigilante Strix have worked together in the past.

Occupation: Electrical engineer.

Appearance: Tommy stands at 6'3", with what appears to be a slight build. This is misleading however, as his body is covered in lean muscle. His shoulder length blonde hair is a constant wavy mess, due to a mixture of his hi-octane antics and general lack of presentation. He usually has either blonde stubble or a beard, depending if he has bothered to shave or not. His face is not the typical one expected of a hero, all sharp lines and hard angles, his cheek bones a little too high and his chin too sharp to be designated 'friendly'. His smile is infectious however, serving to brighten his demeanour greatly, and his summer blue eyes generate a friendly warmth.

Hi-Voltage's supersuit is composed of a dark blue, form fitting jumpsuit, zipped up the front. He usually leaves the zipper, a decorative lightening bolt, open just below the throat. The suit is decorated with two lighter blue lightening bolts that go from his chest are, arching over his shoulders, then reaching down to the small of his back. Another bolt wraps around his waist, like a stylised belt. His calf-high military boots and paramilitary gloves are the same shade of blue as the lightening on his suit. His identity is concealed by a pair of aviator style motorcycle goggles with reflecting lenses that he wears over a broad domino mask.

Powers: Tommy has the ability to create and manipulate electrical energy. Since the Awakening his body has become a biological 'electrical generator' of sorts. As his body metabolises food it also creates vast quantitys of electrical energy. He can use the energy in his body for a vareity of things, most commonly using it to fire bolts of electricity, but also being able to give off EMP's and have low level control over the forces of magnetism.
His supercharged body gives him low levels of super-strength, speed and endurance, and incredibly high reaction times.
Tommy can drain the charge from electrical equipment to replenish his own supply of energy. He can drain outside sources of electricity to replenish his stamina, and can even use it to speed up his recovery from injuries. He can naturally sense if an area is rich in electrial energy or not. The more electricity his body has stored the more powerful he becomes, though after a certain point storing the energy can become quite a strain, and like filling a waterballoon with too much water he is in danger of bursting.
For some reason beyond his or Clara's ability to understand he no longer requires sleep. This has proved incrediably useful in keeping up with his double life. Clara has sujested seeking more proffesional help to explain this phenoenom, but Tommy is hesitant to allow anyone else to discover his secret.
After a battle with the mental manipulator 'Pied Piper' Volt has come to realise he is extraordinarily resistant to psionic attacks. He attributes this to his brains unique electrical impulses.

Skills: Is an extrodinary electrician, though some might say that should be a given. Tommy has an easy going personailty, which leads him to making friends and allies with ease, despite him being a solo act thus far. Being in the hero game for as long as he has helps you become quite a quick thinker. Tommy has become adapt at coming up with off the wall solutions to his problems on the fly. As Hi-Voltage he has developed a skill in acrobatics and free-running. This, coupled with his natural speed and reflexs, help him avoid any serious damage in fights. Szymon has taught him to speak some Polish.

Equipment/Resources : His supersuit. Earns a good pay from his work, but is by no means wealthy. Szymon has helped him develop a shortwave radio that allows him to listen to the police and emergency services line. He also has a small in-ear communicator that allows him to keep in contact with Szymon at all time.

Weaknesses: Being doused in water can short out Tommys powers, and being completly submerged can cause him to loose concsciousness. If he uses more energy than he can generate or drain from his enviroment then he can die.
His control over magnetism is extremely limited, if only because he finds the concentration necessary is prohibitive. He once managed to budge a bus, but he suffered migraines for days afterwards.
Has never had any formal training in how to fight. He's picked up a few tricks since he started, and knows how to throw a punch, but he's by no means an expert. A master martial artist could probably beat him in a straight up fight, even with Tommy's physical advantages.

Psychological Profile: Tommy's crusade is fueled by his guilt at what he allowed to happen to Daniel. He feels if he had been there then he could have saved his friend from a tragic end, so now he fights to protect those that he can save.
He hasn't completly bought into the Superhero mindset, and feels like a fraud wearing a costume, believing it to be a deliberate power trip for some people. However he realises the thought of someone as powerful as he is is a troublesome idea for some people, but has come to find that many people's fears are put at ease when he wears a super-suit, perhaps because the idea that heroes should be wearing colourful getups.
As Hi-Voltage he is arguably Britain's most well known and visible superhero, though he tries to act as laid back about his fame as possible, despite feeling that the pressure is liable to make him crack if he thinks about it to long.
Since Daniels death he has had trouble really letting people in, feeling that he will let them down. This is one of the main factors in his and Clara's breakup, and why he has never joined a super-group in the past.
Tommy enjoys rock music, and he got his name from the AC/DC song. It was between Hi-Voltage and Thunderstruck, which he ultimately decided would be misleading.

Biography: Tommy grew up in Scotland, in the countryside outside of the small city of Inverness, the eldest son in his family. His best friend growing up was Daniel Mackay, the two boys nearly inseparable from day one. Whether it was riding their bikes, playing video games or just plain mucking around, they were joined at the hip. The only thing they disagreed on was Daniels love of superhero comic books, which Tommy could just never get into.

As they got older they began to make plans to move to London together, Tommy to pursue a career in music and Daniel to join the Metropolitan police. Those plans were disrupted by the Awakening, when Tommy first received his powers. Not knowing what to do, Tommy turned to the only person he could trust, Daniel. His best friend was ecstatic, thrilled that his friend had become a superhuman. He began to make new plans for London, plans for Tommy to fight crime like the costumed heroes in Daniels comicbooks.

Tommy was terrified by this turn of events, and desperate for things not to spiral out of control any further told Daniel he was no longer going to London. The two got into a furious argument over what Tommy's new responsibilities were that ended with the friends parting ways, Daniel going on to London and Tommy staying at home. It was the last time they would see each other.

Two months later Daniel was killed when the villain know as Obsidian rampaged through London. When Tommy found out he was inconsolable, knowing that he could have saved his friend if he had just listened. His pain intensified when he received boxes and boxes filled with Daniels old comics, a stinging reminder of the responsibilities he had shirked. Tommy spent days reading the comics, trying to absorb the lessons that Daniel had meant to teach him. Finally, after almost a week locked in isolation, Tommy had come to a decision. He would travel to London and honour Daniel's memory by becoming the hero his friend had known he could be.

Years later Tommy has earned respect and admiration as the costumed hero 'Hi-Voltage'. The going has been tough, facing villains like The Highwayman, Dr Whitechapel, The Iron Lady, St George and Springheel-Jack, but he has always triumphed. He has also made allies, Clara Lord, his one time girlfriend, and Szymon Glowski, a truly brilliant IT technician who is also a world class hacker working under the alias Silvertongue.

His true constant though it all though, the man who challenges Tommy at every step, is that man who started it all - Obsidian. Each time the two have clashed the villain has managed to escape. Hi-Voltage has, until now, worked alone, but has recently received an invite to join 'The League'. At the same time he has received reports from his ally Strix that Obsidian has been sighted in America. Thinking to kill two birds with one stone Tommy packs his bags. If he can't catch Obsidian on his own, then he can use the League to catch his nemesis for him. Either way, Obsidian's going down.

Racoon, A good sheet. Just need an appearance and you're golden.

Molach, For a WIP it's looking pretty good. May I ask that you tweak your powers to be more of a general energy absorber? We don't want him to be too similar to BlackSam.

BlackSam, your sheet is excellent. Hi-Voltage is in.

aw maaaan...
I submitted mine first (by like 10 minutes, but still) :(

I am not sure If I want to rework his powers or not though. the magnetism trough absorbed electrical energy was kind of his mayor selling point.
If I generalize its source, so will I have to change the effects... I think I'd rather go full on magnetism, tbh.
anyway, I'll maul it over for a bit, and finish it up in a few more hours as planned.

Dead Cruiser Dishonour Before Death / Better You Than Me

Member Seen 20 days ago

Name: Ketsuryu Shinobu

Codename: Oni

Age: 269

Gfaer: Male

Place of Birth: Kyoto, Japan

Affiliations: Giovanni Vampire Clan

Occupation: Vagrant

Appearance: Shin is a large, thickly-built man, standing an impressive 195 cm tall and weighing 82 kg of pure muscle. His features are quite striking, with a strong jaw, thick eyebrows, and a piercing gaze made all the more potent with eyes that burn like embers. His thick, dark hair is generally brushed back, to where it hangs to the base of his neck. His skin is unusually pale, which along with his large fangs, fiery eyes, and bite scar on his shoulder, are all indicators of his vampiric nature. Numerous tattoos from various eras cover his body, completely filling in the skin of his arms and back and most of his chest and neck. He hasn't updated his wardrobe since the 1980's, and so he generally wears a low-cut tee-shirt, blue jeans with a chain belt, leather boots, a studded motorcycle jacket, and a sour expression. To protect himself from sunlight, he will also wear a matching motorcycle helmet, studded riding gloves and a long, red scarf.

Powers: As a vampire, Shin is imbued with superhuman strength and speed, and is unburdened by mortal needs such as air or sleep. His senses also have an uncanny sharpness, fitting for a predator, though he is particularly sensitive to supernatural phenomena. Born of the mystic East, he feeds on Chi (also known as chakra, mana or life force) rather than blood, though sucking blood from the living is still the easiest means of doing so. By consuming enough of an entity's Chi, he can assimilate some of their skills or memories, or even supernatural abilities they possess. Shin's regenerative ability is prodigious even among vampires, as he can shrug off attacks that would kill lesser vampires ten times over, and recover from the most grievous of wounds with startling speed.

The vampire art of transformation is Shin's specialty, as he can reshape his entire body to suit his needs. Bones, flesh and blood can become weapons or armor as needed, turning Shin into an unliving weapon. He can also mimic the shape of any creature he tastes the blood of, though he has difficulty mimicking humans. He has some minor necromantic ability, able to commune with the dead and can raise some weak undead servants.

Skills: Once an indomitable swordsman, Shin's skills have dulled from centuries of neglect. Even so, he is still a sharp tactician, and has encyclopedic knowledge of Far Eastern supernatural creatures, and more specifically, how to kill them. He is a very proficient hand-to-hand fighter, and is quite good at riding motorcycles and horses.

Equipment/Resources: He tries to keep a motorcycle when he can, though the model varies depending on what he can procure. He is rumoured to still be in possession of his enchanted sword, though no one can say where he has hidden it.

Weaknesses: Naturally, the sun his his greatest weakness. Its rays cause his flesh to burst into flames, which his regenerative ability can barely keep up with. Placing a stake in his heart paralyzes him and also halts his regeneration until removed. All of his powers, including his regeneration, must be fueled by the Chi of living creatures in order to operate at their full capacity. If he does not feed for a long time, his bestial hunger can overwhelm his higher thoughts and send him into a mindless feeding frenzy. His enhanced senses are also something of a double-edged sword, as over-stimulation (particularly by bright lights) can overwhelm and stun him.

Psychological Profile: Shin is a man disillusioned with the world and its people. He is cynical and callous, keeping a stoic, stone-faced demeanor at nearly all times. Deep within him, there is a gnawing bloodlust, which he only allows to break loose when in the heat of battle or hunting his prey. He has little patience for those he considers to be fools, and speaks as little as he can afford to. Despite his misanthropy, Shin believes strongly in a sense of justice and personal honor, though his morals are quite warped by most standards.

Biography: Born in Japan during the Edo Period, Shinobu was a samurai in the service of a lesser feudal lord near the old imperial capital. Due to his massive stature and strength, Shin was nicknamed "Oni" be his peers, after the giant demons of legend. He trained in the use of an odaichi, a massive sword usually saved for ceremonied, as it was as long as an entire person. Shin's lord spent much of his money on collecting rarities from across Japan, and so had his lands taken from him after failing to pay his dues to the Shogun. As hid estate dissolved, the lord divided his remaining wealth and possessions among his servants, mostly so the Shogun could not have them. Shin came was gifted with an enchanted blade, said to be the bane of monsters.

Like most of his fellow samurai, upon his "unemployment," Shin became a ronin, a sword for hire. Unlike them, he made his living by hunting youkai and other such monsters, putting his magic sword to good use. This led him to tracking down a supposed demon, which had been terrorizing villagers across eastern Kanto. He eventually discovered that this "demon" was in fact a vampire of the Italian Giovanni Clan, hiding in the east to escape punishment for her crimes against the clan. They battled for hours, with Shin slowly losing ground until she finally struck and bit him, turning him into her vampiric servant.

He served for some time as her personal retainer and guard before she was tracked down and punished by her clan. The Giovanni Clan took mercy on Shin, sparing him on the condition that he carry out their will in the Far East. With no other options, he accepted. For the next few centuries he was mostly left alone to his own devices, and he continued to spread justice across Japan; bringing retribution to the deserving and only feeding on the unjust. Though events such as the fall of the samurai class and Japan's defeat in WWII greatly disheartened him, and made him into a darker, more ruthless person. He has continued to bring his own brand of vicious justice to the Land of the Rising Sun, though he feels the carnal nature of his being continue to strengthen inside him.

Yakuza and lesser street gangs in Japan have also come to know this brutal avenger as "Oni," and by that alias the League of Heroes came to know of him, and extended him an invitation to join their ranks. Though he was initially skeptical, his Clan superiors urged him to join, considering him to be their man on the inside regarding this largely unknown organization.

Dead Cruiser, your sheet is almost entirely in order. There are only a few things. First off, I'd like for you to consider the "nigh-instantenous" part about him healing from wounds. Cuts and bruises sure, but things like broken bones and exposed innards shouldn't be instantaneously healed and take several moments. That's the only thing that concerns me, the rest of your powers are good.

And he needs some kind of explanation for why he ends up in the States and why he would ever possibly join the League of Heroes. Nothing major just a few lines about hunting a rogue Vampire or whatever should suffice. Just take care of those things and it'll be ready to go.

Dead Cruiser, you've hit all the right points, and Oni is accepted.

Wormgod, Hecate is a nice enough name but the deity actually exists in this universe and may take offense haha. Perhaps Nightshade? Your sheet mentions using the poison. Or anything that fits your character's motif. But you have something and Phoebe is accepted.
