now that I edited it there should be no problems because I am starting to feel like it is completely unfair to have problems with my character when you allow magical heroes.

Well with Furious, his strength is only theoretically limitless. With all the limits that were built in to his powers (such as receiving less and less strength with each hit), realistically he would be physically overwhelmed long before he could attain say Silver Age Superman strength. But that is a fair point. I'm just trying to find a happy balance between the thoughts of all the players on this issue. But I do see that Yog has been consistently responsible towards not being overpowered with his character. I also don't want this to become bogged down into another heated argument either.

This exchange is not meant to reflect anything personal towards you or your roleplaying abilities Yog, nor does it indicate a lack of trust. Some players may have a concern with the power and its potential to be abused, but they do not lack trust in you either. Hot Rod is accepted, and I appreciate everyone's civility in this discussion and your willingness to have measured conversation. Regarding magic characters, none of them have abilities with as much destructive potential as Hot Rod and they all follow the rule that massive power equals massive costs. Now if you really want to have the ability, I'll allow it in light of this discussion but just keep everything that has been said in mind. I appreciate everyone's civility in this discussion and the willingness to have reasonable dialogue about it.

Raineh, Perhaps Yog feels that magic characters also have the potential to abuse their powers massively but regardless let's not get into another pointless tiff here please.

my whole point with magic is that magic is very versatile and can be learned so there is ways to abuse it. Anyway Hot Rod's thrust power is only strong enough to make a car roll over when it is used offensively.

Well in this setting, most magical types are specialists and learning the Art is an intensive process and doesn't guarantee you even have the power to become truly formidable as being a sorcerer also requires a certain level of inborn talent and power. So not everyone could be a Sorcerer and of those many of them can't be Uber-Wizards like Merlin or Gandalf. Let's all just get back to the thread and not bog down the CS thread with misunderstandings.

Name: Brittany Kay

Codename: Knight

Age: Appears to be in her early 20's, and has since the Awakening.

Gender: Female

Place of Birth: Unknown

Affiliations: None

Occupation: Unemployed vigilante, keen to help out.

Appearance: Brittany is tan, well-muscled, and in general pretty boyish, though her black hair is tied in a ponytail rather than cut short. She's attractive enough, in an athletic way, but not if you look for a girlish figure or visage, plus her blue eyes seem a lot older than she does. Her appearance is not helped by the decay of her clothes: jeans with torn knees, gloves where the fingers have disintegrated instead of being intentionally removed, and a long, woollen coat with a few glaring patches above a threadbare sweater.

Powers: Seems to not age, though with no firm grasp on her actual age this may not be a power and may just be an odd quirk.

Skills: Here's the strange part: for someone with absolutely no recollection of her past, Brittany is astonishingly gifted where medieval swordsmanship is concerned, with extra skill in a wide variety of knightly arts: none of which, it should be noted, she can explain. On the plus side, this also includes the fine art of fighting dirty, and leadership skills. The swordsmanship, however, is the main thing: it's possible to describe it as 'too good': if she sees a gun being aimed, Brittany has the skill to interpose the sword between the bullet and herself.

Equipment/Resources: Brittany's equipment consists entirely of a thick, heavy coat--thick enough to count as rather a lot of padding against blows--and a sword. Now, the sword would be the best clue to what the hell her whole deal is, but nobody has been able to work it out: a gleaming blade with gilt runes on either side, and a wire-embossed hilt. When unwrapped from the length of cloth she uses to keep it obscured, it briefly flashes before merely glimmering slightly.

Even when used against such things as 'solid metal bars', the sword doesn't receive any damage, instead doing a remarkable job of hacking through stuff you shouldn't hit a sword with.

Weaknesses: Though the sword cannot be damaged, that isn't to say it perfectly blocks things: the force behind whatever struck it is still there, and as a double-bladed cruciform deal, this could possibly cut is wielder right open. She also has no bound connection with it, so the blade could be stolen. On Brittany's side: no enhanced attributes, no real protection, and no fancy clothing. Also at a total loss at range.

Psychological Profile: Aside from the total retrograde amnesia, Brittany appears to be psychologically healthy, if unduly self-sacrificing. Brave, chivalrous--but at the same time, averse to sneaking around and cowardly tactics where more direct action would be an option. Emotionally, she's sealed off, being about as expressive as a stone. Probably not the first choice for looking after children, but a good one if you need something protected.

Biography: With her memories not stretching back before the Awakening, Brittany is only aware of waking up some day in a US city, with no idea of what the hell was going on. She managed to survive those baffling weeks where all she had was her sword and some clothes, not even any knowledge of the place, but that was a pretty close-run thing until the unpleasant elements she had to deal with realised that the sword wasn't a toy.

Since then, she's essentially been a vagrant, getting jobs where she can and rather foolishly refusing payment if she feels that the other party needs the cash more. She's stopped crimes when and where she could, feeling compelled to try and keep things lawful. Despite the stress, she hasn't unduly aged.

She's not quite sure why she picked the name, it just seems... familiar.

Emmanuel Liheart

Codename: The Flashbolt Acolyte

Age: 23

Gender: Male

Place of Birth: America, more specifically Cleveland Ohio. He lives in New York City, where power is plentiful and easy for him to procure.

Affiliations: Unless you count being beloved by his local community, none. He gets along with pretty much everyone, most of the time, though he absolutely despises people trying to force him to do something or join something that he does not want to do. Which has lead to some rather tense situations involving the government, as he didn't take kindly to a proposition that they tried pressuring him into. Something dealing with being a superweapon overseas.

Occupation: Full Time Superhero, Part time WORLD CLASS COBBLER. I mean it too. World class. Emmanuel makes some of the greatest shoes in the entire world. Hand crafted, home made leather, treated with a special process to make it incredibly durable, but soft and flexible. He can make shoes look however the customer wants, with all the bells and whistles that one could desire. Auto Lacing? Sure thing. Light up? Yeah you got it. Emmanuel's Shoes have a reputation for being the only pair of shoes you'll ever need to buy. One pair can last an adventurous man his entire lifetime, easily. He sells them based on customer as well. Each pair is hand tailored for the person's foot and he only begins working on it once someone actually requests it. No mass produced shoes here. If someone doesn't have the money for a super expensive pair, he'll lower the price to match too, because ruining someone's rent payment or food budget for the month over a pair of shoes is stupid, he thinks. That being said, he makes more than enough money from his wealthy clientele, with his shoes being sold to multi millionaires everywhere from 100k and up. He comes from a long line of cobblers as well, which is why a 23 year old man has world class shoe making skills.

Appearance: Emmanuel is a relatively normal looking man. He stands 6 foot tall, and is very skinny and lean actually. However, hidden in that lean frame is tightly packed muscle, far more than it would appear. He has old Egyptian blood in him, giving him dark olive skin, and a gloriously well tamed and kept goatee framing his jawline. The rest of his body is impeccably smooth. Everywhere besides his eyebrows, hair, and goatee, he is perfectly hairless. His hair follicles were actually fried during his Awakening, losing his ability to grow more hair, meaning the hair he has stays as long as it is. His skin is very fair, but not perfect. During his Awakening and the unlocking of his powers, his entire body was marked with heavy Lichtenburg figures, scaring him from head to toe in electrical markings, like he has lightning running all over his body. Fittingly, he decided to get them all filled in by his tattoo artist buddy, leaving him covered in blue and yellow electrical marks, which begin to glow when he really gets into power mode. The tattoos are specially formulated to only appear in correspondence to electrical impulse, so when he's not fighting or using his powers, only his scars are visible, not the tattoos. He think it gives an added sort of flair.

Skills: Emmanuel is an expert crafter. Not limited to just shoes, if he can think of something, and has the materials to build it, it can probably be built. He is also a pretty talented electrician, but thats due entirely to his powers of manipulation rather than him knowing what he's actually doing. He's also trained as an EMT since highschool, and is an expert in first aid.

Equipment:
Emmanuel always has the Halo on his person, at all times. No exceptions.
He also always has a first aid kit on him, packed to the brim with bandages, splints, medicine, you name it.

Weaknesses:
Emmanuel is strong and fast, but he's not the toughest. He relies on speed and reflexes. He does a good job of dodging bullets most of the time, he's certainly fast enough, but if he gets it, it's gonna hurt. A lot.
Water makes him uncomfortable. It doesn't short him out, because his power is based entirely inside him, but it makes him really tingly all over, so he avoids it whenever possible.
His way of fighting is exhaustive. His stamina is far, far above that of a normal human, but even so, if he fights too long, once he stops, he'll past out. All tiredness hits him at once, because when he's fighting, the electricity will keep him going until he lets go of the power.

Im pretty sure that while his main thing is electricity, he has a different enough fighting style and unique enough applications to not get too many comparisons to other electrical heroes in here? Let me know what you think, or if you think he's too good

I believe he is unique enough. His sheet is pretty good. The only problem is one of power level. His electric talents are extremely potent and so are his physical abilities. One or both of these areas need some toning down in order to work. Besides that he should be fine.

And like I said earlier, you're free to make another character. Especially since we're starting to run low :P

Alright, I can work with that. Would lowering his strength to one ton and speed to Mach One be acceptable? I really want to keep the feeling of him fighting like a literal bolt of lightning, so I'm more than happy to listen to any suggestions you have for keeping him high powered, but not over powered. If LeeRoy was still in this, he'd be able to tell you, I generally create characters with waaaaay too much punch for the average role play, so I'm not the best at this

Lowering his speed to Mach 1 should be fine, and one ton should be very much the upper limit of his strength, I'm thinking he can usually lift a portion of that. All in all, these powers should cost him massive amounts of energy, there's no free lunch. Other than that it should be fine.
