Something strange is happening in Takehaya city. There has been an astonishing growth of people with mental disorders, one in particular, to be honest. The Lhermitte Effect. This mental disorder is characterized by the heavy hallucinations, both visual and auditive, that the victims suffer and those hallucinations, more often than not, make the victims become extremely aggressive. In later stages, patients can't even distinguish between reality and hallucination. Scientist and medics have tried to blame it all on the several factories present on the city, which constantly emit fumes, and said fumes are what scientists are trying to put all the blame into, saying that they damage the brain and produce the initial hallucinations. However, that is completely wrong. Little is the amount of people who actually know what is going on, and most of them are classified as mentals with the Lhermitte Effect.

There's one time of the day, unbeknown to most, but very familiar for some. The Hour of Reflection. A time where the floor of the whole city becomes a giant mirror and reflects the splitting image of the city and its inhabitants. Well, of course, it IS a mirror. However, when people look into it and make out the details they find out it is not a mere reflection, but rather a world of its own. Buildings are deformed, the streets looks ravaged, the pole lights are flickering restlessly. It looks as if something had happened in that world, and their inhabitants seem to have been affected by that same event in an equal manner, for they aren't even human, but they are more like blob like creature which only now how to crawl. These beings are the Shadows. During the Hour of Reflection, the Shadows can leave their side and attack humans, and their mere presence in our world turns everything upside down, deforming the real city as their own world is right now and, unfortunately, normal humans cannot do a thing about them, they can just run. Their suffering is relieved after the Hour of Reflection is over, however, contrary to what someone would think because of its name, it can last for hours, or, in the contrary, can last for a few minutes, and there's no way of knowing when it will happen nor when it will end.

That is the real cause of the Lhermitte Effect, people being chased by Shadows while they warp what's on the real world is bound to mess up your mind. Does who can experience the Hour of Reflection, however, may encounter one of the most fearsome enemies in the Mirror World. Themselves. If someone is unlucky enough to encounter their reflection during the Hour of Reflection, they have most likely run out of options. Their other selves are extremely powerful Shadows, and what is more fearful, they are sentient and they know everything about their original selves, even their most deep secrets and fears. Even if, unlike the other Shadows, they don't move on pure instinct, they still have just one objective, to kill their other self. But it doesn't end there, after killing the original, they obtain the ability to stay in the real world and their sole presence is something extremely bad for humans, since their power will start to transform their surroundings into a deadly trap for humans, filled with Shadows, which normal humans cannot perceive, but can still be attacked by. This only makes the number of cases of the Lhermitte Effect increase, and a number of Shadows have already passed to our side.

It is obvious that without someone that does something about it, the city will end up in chaos. However, countermeasures are already under way. In Tsukiyama Academy, several high school students have shown some of the initial symptoms of the Lhermitte Effect, but not many speak openly about it. A rumour that is going around says that the school has something to do with it. Maybe that is indeed the case, regardless, some of this students have been experiencing the effects of the Lhermitte Effect, or phrased better, they have been experiencing the Hour of Reflection. Without someone to help them, all they can do is hide. But that will change soon enough.

Welcome, to the Velvet Room
That's that for the intro, now some things before we can jump into IC (apart from some CS's). Firstly, some rules.

We good? Good. Now, some elements we'll be carrying into this RP. The Velvet Room will be here, however, players will be invited at random and cannot go in and out of it, as the Persona MC's. We'll also have Evokers, but they will be more than just guns, it can be anything that brings out an emotion strong enough and a feeling of self-preservation, I dunno, maybe the photo of someone they love or something. Social Links are a thing here, however, they will help develop your Persona and your character, some can be with PC's or with NPC's. (Credit of idea to Lionheart)

And a list of Arcana, so you know which to pick and which has already been taken. Remember, two people per Arcana. Here, the site for Arcana. In case you wanna see the meaning.

RIGHT NOW WE ARE ONLY ACCEPTING ONE MORE CS! Due to overcrowding and me wanting to have an even number of players.Any other CS after this last one will be put in a waiting list.

Here's the CS.

Gunna edit this post into my CS when I get home,

sooo, character wise, running stuff by you cause that's what I like to do. He isn't a villain, but he has committed a murder, and his persona is explicitly evil. He may or may not be a sociopath to some degree.

Persona I haven't decided which specific villainous dragon yet, possibly the one from Beowulf.

Also Persona OTP? Both P3 protagonists, cross universe shipping ho!

Favorite game in the series? 2, unconventional, and I've never even actually played it. But I love the plot.

    Warning, huge images contained within.

She'll give some input on what you've got so far on your CS Draco.

For the weapon section, human characters never actually use magic on their own. Its always their persona doing the casting.

The P4 version of summoning a persona is only possible because the TV world is a shadow world and thus more directly connected to peoples subconscious making it possible to summon a persona without need of an evoker. The only time we've seen a persona user not need an evoke to summon a persona was Takaya in P3, but he was an experiment and suffered for even being able to use a persona.

Personally she'd prefer if people dont just copy the summoning process from p3 or p4 for the sake of creativity. Thats just her two cents, though

While I agree with some of that Noel, I believe there's another side to the cards then just the TV world. I personally think the reason cards are used as opposed to any form of Evoker is because the characters have faced and accepted their shadows, thus having a much closer connection to their Persona. The card is effortless, easy, natural, as it is meant to be for one who's gone through a major ordeal in facing their darker selves. An Evoker takes effort to use at first and drags your Persona out without any kind of test required, it's sorta like an easy way out. I've always thought the Evoker was an artificial, man-made way to coax a Persona whilst the card was a natural, more graceful method that shows the connection.

Anyway I'm not disagreeing with you at all, just my two cents on the whole Evoker vs Card thing..............

    I'm being a know-it-all, sorry.

The difference is that the cards don't actually exist. They were able to appear in the TV world because reality was distorted that way, but the cards are a representation of one's soul, making it impossible to materialize in the real world (Since you would have to rip your soul out). An Evoker, on the other hand, allows one to summon their persona by simulating strong enough emotions that they're forced to summon their Persona.

This might be completely wrong, that's just how I saw it.

Wow shit... Just realized I'm writing a really dark character. He may even come across as a Gary Stu kinda. Not done yet though.

EDIT: Questions. Persona evolution, will it happen/how will it work. Because I have it planned out as part of my character's arc.

What about having our character's facing their shadow be the requirement for evolution? rather than just the summoning at all.

Alrighty, feedback time again. So, chukklehed, the basic ideas look fine... but could use more detail. She'd say it would benifit from some lengthening and fleshing out, the background in particular. You also missed the age section.

And thats fair enough Lionheart, but the tv world does play a pretty big part in it as she sees it. Namely look at persona 4 arena, the p3 characters can summon a persona without need of their evokers while in the tv world too and they didn't have a shadow to accept ever. So at the end of the day she thinks the cards are just an element of the tv world.

Heh, though these kind of debates around the intricacies are part of the reason she'd think just using evoker like things is the better bet. They for a fact are known to work in the real world. Also just like to keep players having the same general set of capabilities, not having just one character have something unique no one else does.

I left the background purposefuly obscure because her past is the entirety of her Shadow's speech. I can look at the other sections and try to add more there, But I can only add a few more details to the background without giving that whole scene away. Also dammit age, you foiled me again!

Also not to criticize, but your third person could use some work. Not much, it's actually pretty good, but just a little tweaking.

Like when you were giving feedback, instead of "She'd say it would benifit" You should have said "Noel would say". You should always indicate who is talking first, both because you might be talking about somebody else anyway and because it adds more to the effect than just replacing "I" with "She". Hope that helps.

I don't think I've ever seen anybody criticize another persons outside-RP habits. This is a first.

Not seeing anything she objects with right now Draco, a nice backstory and it should be fine in her book. Maybe a little extra detail on the true form shadow appearance, otherwise sounds fine to her.

Shes gonna be blunt here, dont nitpick her speech habits. How she speaks/types/whatever is very much not a deliberate thing and she gets enough shit about it on a day to day basis and have for a long time, that she really has no patience what so ever for it. Theres not a lot of stuff that really gets under her skin, but bothering her about her speech is one of them. Shes always fully aware this comment probably comes off as snappish but she really does find it incredibly irksome.
