It's fine to be level 6. My character has gone through something harsh, so he is level 7. He is at least for now, and I plan to keep him that way, the second highest player, and the second person to reach level 7.
Also, yeah it's fine to make him meet the party and faint. I was just letting you know, if you planned to keep going, I would probably activate Co-GM powers or something like that.

We have a system for monster exp too. But I am not sure if we posted that yet.

Hm... I think perhaps I shall suggest something like.... a pirate's bay in sweden, and ah... searching for the sword art online novels. For really quick information mining. Erm... haha.

Fatigue and hunger exists in sword art online, and characters don't get out of breath, but should make sure to breath extra or take in more air, because the body will be reacting like it should be out of breath and such, or some such thing. Fuck it, I'm just bustin out a quote.

"Sword art Online Volume 1 Chapter 1" said The blue line—called the “HP bar”—is a visual rendering of my life force. There was still a little over 80 percent left. No, this phrase isn’t appropriate enough. Right now, I was about 20 percent closer to death.

I dashed backwards before the enemy’s sword even began its attacking motion.

“Haaa…”

I forced a huge breath to steady myself. The «body» in this world didn’t need oxygen; but the body on the other side, or rather the body lying down in the real world, would be breathing heavily. My limp hands would be soaked with sweat, and my heartbeat would be off the charts.
Of course.

Even if everything that I see right now is nothing more than a rendering of a 3D virtual reality, and the bar being reduced was nothing more than a bunch of numbers that showed my hit points, the fact that I was fighting for my life didn’t change.

When you think about it like that, this fight is extremely unfair. That’s because the «enemy» in front of me — a humanoid with dully shining arms covered in dark green scales along with a lizard’s head and tail—was not a human, nor was it really alive. It was a digital lump that the system would replace however many times it was killed.

—No.

The AI that moved the lizardman was studying my movements and enhancing its ability to respond to them with every second that passed. However, the moment that this unit was destroyed, the data was reset and it did not pass on to the unit that would be regenerated in this area.

So in a sense, this lizardman was also alive — A single being unique to this world.

Also, beginner boars are called Frenzy Boars.

Yeah, I figured as much. Don't worry, Fujiwara pretty much just passed out in front of the party, which should either leave him worse for wear or in the care of the party. Kind of weird, but I figured it might work in this situation.

Well that's some interesting information.

Anyway, all I really knew was it fatigued and got exhausted, didn't know about the oxygen part

With the monster exp, I believe Little Nepents should be higher than Dire Wolf. Little Nepents (not that little) are level 3's, Kirito 1hko a Dire wolf at level 1, (at least that's what it looked like at the end of episode 1)
If something is wrong with that information please correct me.

I'll have to check.

oho... I may have to edit my post, further down there is the one and only mention of wolves in volume one

Fights in SAO needed a bit of getting used to. It was less like trying to force yourself to move but «entrusting» your movements to the system.

For example, even for a simple uppercut with a one-handed sword, if the player learned the «One-handed Sword Skill» and then equipped «Uppercut» from the list, they would only need to assume the starting motion; then the system would almost automatically move their body for them. But if someone without the skill tried to copy the movements, it would be too slow and weak to use in actual combat. It was like inputting commands in a fighting game.

The people who didn’t adjust to this just swung their swords around and even lost to the boars and wolves that they would have been able to beat if they used the single strike skills that they had on as default. Even then, if they just gave up and ran away after losing some of their HP, they wouldn’t have died but—

Unlike the attacks of 2D monsters that we see through a monitor screen, the battles in SAO were so real that you feel afraid. It was as if a real monster was baring its teeth at you and giving chase with the intention of killing you.

Can we get someone else's opinion on the weapon stats system we are trying to implement? It would be nice to get more feedback on what to do.

I took a glance at it, but I'll look at it again. I make no promises, I may have taken game design classes, but I am shit at stats. Leave stats to me, and I'll likely somehow manage to kill myself off and break the game.

Lol
I am not telling you to do the stats
I am just wanting opinions on the system
We will do the stats ourselves. If you feel something is unfair or something we will look into it and see if you make a valid point, etc.

Seems like you'd pretty much have to be remaking the game, except from bits and pieces and from scratch.

Hm... I wonder if it could be combined, weapons can have modifiers sort of thing. And rank weapons by levels levels 1-10 is one rank or weapon grade 10-20 is another, etc.

maybe something like f = 1-10 E = 10-20 D = 20-30 C = 30-40 B=40-50 A=50-60 S= 60-70 SS = 70-80 SSS=80-90 and X = 90-100 (assuming there's a level cap or some such thing. Or, if letters are a pain, maybe numbers will do, from 9-0 or 10-1 and legendary/unique items are 0? Something like that.

And within the grades there's - and + to help figure out where it is within the weapon grades. Idk, just something that popped into my head.

So there are modifiers and rankings that are based on levels something that's f+ strong or whatever modifier/ranking is better than e or e- but no way better than e+?

Then again, I think that doesn't solve the issue you brought up of a lower level weapon being stronger, and perhaps within each grade there's also a min and max strength and dex or something?

I was looking at the weapon system you guys had proposed earlier again and remembered that Mabinogi had some sort of similar way to deal with weapons. Only know this because I played that game for like three-four years, but my point still stands. Maybe you could look to how they executed it? I'll toss an example here.

Ah, I play Mabi, what server are you on? I never thought of basing it on Mabi, haha. You know about 3xAP and such? I haven't been playing much, banished to my parent's house for the summer ;-;

Well, it's more along the lines of 'I used to play but when I did I played super obsessively'. When I did play, though, it was on the Tarlach server. But yeah, enchants/upgrade system/bleh. Mabi's basically the closest thing of an actual SAO I can think of... Minus the permadeath, of course.

Lol, Mabi seems similar to a lot of games because of how it is. Erm... fuck, I'm tempted to just ask you to join my server and guild but... that'd waste any money you spent, and all the time you spent ;-;

I be sorry for even considering asking you to hop on and join my guild, esp when I'm barely playing.

The Anneal Blade example's design is based off the Elucidator just for anyone's information. We have seen the stats for two weapons, but that's about it.
Also it appears that SAO doesn't use dex. It uses only two stats, Strength and Agility, you get 3 stat points per level (unsure if this number changes). I do not have info about if there are weapons with an Agility requirement or not though.

I am unsure about that idea about the weapon ranks and grades. That is similar to El_Tigre's idea already, just expanded. But, there is also the chance of a super rare item that is actually really weak. And there is no guarantee there isn't any weapons like that in SAO. There are weapons like that in most games.

Well, I won't say anything about the Maginogi system. It does seem similar to the original system. And it is used similarly in a lot of other games in the first place. We were discussing whether we should actually use it really. Because it would get complex and we were afraid some RPers would shy away from it.

Well, I was saying combine it. Have stats and modifiers and weapon grades, or so?

In my mind, dex and agi are the same thing, but ah well, games are not my strong suit, which is funny, because I was thinking of going into game design. Still am, actually.

Ha ha.
It takes quite a bit to design a game I think. I am not in it, but have ideas and stuff to make some games.

Well if you say combine it, that is the same as PKMNB0Y's suggestion.
