Leo ran into the cinema of course running late as usual trying not to get in the way of anyone’s viewing whispered to Jack “Sorry I’m late traffic was bad,”. It was about 45 minutes in when the un-expectable happened a giant ball proceeded to rip through the cinema. “HOLY—“ I shouted at the top of my lungs, I got up from my chair just in time to be hit by a piece of rubble and was knocked out.
When I awoke my head was hurting and some people behind me were shouting, most of the ceiling was falling apart people need to get out of there. I regained my senses and examined my head wound, it wasn’t fatal but more of an annoying cut. Looking behind me the one of people were injured and another picking her up and dragging her out the cinema.
I decided to follow in their footsteps it was probably the most sensible option. When I heard one of them say that one was left in I immediately thought I needed to help. I was still disorientated from the hit on the head. “Hey…uhhmm…uhm jack that’s it ,Asher I’ll uhhm g.... go find her, the roof is going to go any second now. Wh…..Where was he sitting?”

Asher stirred, and groaned. He felt a sharp pain in his head as he regained consciousness. He lay there, confused, for several minutes, trying to figure out where he was. He remembered…buying movie tickets, sitting down… an explosion? These 3D movies were really getting out of hand. He tried to move and felt a pain in his torso and froze. The thought that he may have been impaled briefly crossed his mind. He tried to relax, then started by moving his fingers, up his arms, his toes, legs. His head pounded, and when it showed no sign of stopping he decided he had better move. He felt his chest and stomach, his shirt was sticky with blood and clung to him, but the cuts and scratches didn't seem severe, and he wasn't about to bleed out.

He heard screams. He heard his name.

"What?" he coughed. Dust filled his nose and mouth. Forget the blood if he stayed here much longer he'd suffocate.

With difficulty he dragged himself up out of a pile of wrecked theatre seats and slabs of plaster. He spotted the others one by one, and waved to let them know he was okay. Well, maybe not okay, but alive at least. He reached Leo first, who seemed to be in the best shape of them all, and gripped his shoulder for support as he fell to a coughing fit trying to clear his lungs.

"Those…special… effects," he wheezed, "I think we got the full experience. My god, Cassy!" He half-ran, half-stumbled to the girl and knelt beside Ray and David. "We've got to get her out of here--" he did a once-over of her wound, "Leave that in till we get her to safety. If we pull it out it'll bleed too much. Ray, get her legs." Asher slid his arms under Cassy's, trying to hold her back as straight as possible.

Between the two of them, they should be able to get her out without jostling her too much. If his head wasn't so muddled, he might have said something like "It's gonna be okay," but right now actions were more important than words. The logical side of his brain took over. It was all go go go.

Cassandra whimpered when Asher came and lifted her top half, the muscles in her pierced torso straining and pulling around the shrapnel. As she danced in and out of consciousness, more blood dribbled out from her wound.

Her head flopped backwards against Asher's shoulder as she finally gave up fighting and fell into unconsciousness. Her teary eyes closing and her mouth falling open.

Ray heard Jack ask him for help opening the door, but he was reluctant to leave Cassy. He was debating weather or not to pull out the shrapnel embedded in Cassy's gut when Asher spoke up. "Leave that in till we get her to safety. If we pull it out it'll bleed too much." Asher said. Ray nodded, thankful that someone could actually make a decision like that. He hadn't done well in his CPR class. He only managed to pass the class because he passed the first aid section, but he couldn't remember how to deal with anything like this.

"Ray, get her legs." Ray mumbled an agreement and did so. They carried her towards the doors Jack was trying to open. Ray muttered "Oh, god!" several times as blood leaked from the injury. Ray hadn't seen this much blood in his life. They got her to the door, but she had passed out. When they set her down, Ray tilted her head back to make sure her airway was open. Just about the only thing I did remember from CPR.

Ray then started slamming his shoulder against the door. It certainly was blocked, but every time he slammed into it, he felt the doors give a little. He started taking running starts with Jack and running into the door simultaneously.

David was following Ashers and Ray to the door as they were carrying Cassandra. "When we get out of here, we need to get her to a hospital A.S.A.P!" He said, even if it was fairly obvious. 'Hang in there Cassy...' he thought as blood leaked from her wounds. As they got to the door, David helped by slamming his shoulder into it, much like Ray was doing. "This is shaping out to be one of the worst days of my life." He said, mostly to himself.

Jack kept smashing the door with his shoulder, finally it gave and Jack stumbled through. He looked around, the rest of the the cinema looked in a similar state to the room they were just in.
"Christ, what happened?" He asked quietly, he returned inside and saw Asher taking care of Cassy, he moved over to where Viktoriya was and lifted her up and out of the room. He layed her in the hallway.
"You good?" he asked her, his voice shaking slightly.
He looked around again and saw what looked like the remains of a body on the wall, it was covered in red and body parts stuck to certain points. He started violently retching at the horrific sight. finally gaining back some dignity he stood up and yelled at the top of his voice.
"WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING?!"

All Viktoriya could feel was the dull pain in her leg, she knew they had to move but she saw that the door was barely budging, she wished she could help instead of being useless. Suddenly when it gave way she gave a sigh of relief, Jack came over and helped her again.
"Thanks, milashka." She whispered in his ear, when he layed her down she took in her surroundings, it looked like multiple of those orbs hit the cinema. When she heard Jack retching she looked over to what caused it. She stared shock fell over her. She was pulled out of it when Jack yelled.
"CALM DOWN DEBIL!"

"the worst thing to do right now is panic, it raises blood pressure which isn't good for Cassey here."i said indicating at Cassey, "the best thing to do right now, I'm going to check outside i mean surely this couldn't have just happened to us right? i'll be back in a second"
after saying this i ran outside looking around the complex in which the cinema was in was ruined,'not good' comes to mind. fires in cars, dead people all around and roads smashed to pieces after about 5 minuets I couldn't stand it anymore.
I re entered the room an announced "everyone ,I'm afraid that taking Cassey to the hospital isn't an option any more. There might be a few cars outside in which we could use but it's unlikely.i although i do suggest that we leave here as soon as possible this place might just suffocate us"

They finally made it out into the open. Chaos was in order. The area had been totally demolished in about a four-block-radius, and it seemed they'd only caught the edge of the blast, whatever had caused it. Car alarms blared, people on the street were screaming and crying, many were dead or dying. It was a horror to behold. Already Asher heard sirens. He lifted his gaze and saw the oncoming police cars, firetrucks, and an ambulance. They're gonna need a lot more than one ambulance, he thought briefly.

Once they were a safe distance from the building they laid Cassy down on the grass, and Asher bolted into the street to flag down the ambulance, which reached them first. It came to a screeching halt, lights flashing, and about a dozen paramedics jumped out and went in teams of two to help the wounded. Two such men came to Cassy's and Viktoria's aid. Relieved that they could rest at least for a few moments, Asher sank down to the grass, suddenly dizzy. He rested his head on his knees, headache seeming to be overwhelming now. He probably had a concussion. He could very well be in shock too.

He tried to deduce what had happened. A bombing? Terrorist attack? Gas leak? His nose was running and he wiped it on his sleeve, but it came away bloody. He looked up again and saw Ray not far away.

"Ray… your arm…" There was a nasty piece of shrapnel lodged in his forearm, how had he not noticed it earlier?

I bet I'm in shock. I mean, I was ramming that door and I hardly felt a thing. I mean, I was throwing my whole weight into that sucker and I bet its going to be bruised and sore like a bitch tomorrow, but I don't feel a thing.

"Ray… your arm…"

"Huh? Oh...."

He stared at his grievous wound; a thin shard of orange plastic stuff was sticking three inches out of the back of his left forearm, and was probably just as deep. Yup, I'm in shock. "You know, I hardly feel this thing. Strange...." He flexed his arm a bit and then sucked air between his teeth in pain. "I take it back, this hurts like a mother." He looked for his torn shirt for a second before remembering it was in his hand. "Hey, can someone bandage this thing once I pull it out?"

Somewhere in the back of his mind, Ray remembered he forgot his jacket. That same part of his mind didn't care.

"'Medics! Hey! Um, I think I should get some proper bandages. These are just ripped clothes...Do I need proper bandages?" Davidson called out, sitting on the grass near his friends. "On a brighter note, atleast we're alive." He thought it was best to ignore the other people. Dying. Dead. Dead-er.

He sighed. "What do you guys think happened anyway?" He wrapped his yellow jacket around him and watched the chaos.

"Oh thank god.." Jack sighed in relief at the sight of the paramedics pulling up. They started tending to the two girls, Jack sat next to David and replied to his question.
"No idea David, maybe it's a terrorist attack..." Just as he answered the paramedics came up to them.
"Viktoriya and Cassandra are both going to be alright, but Cassandra can't do much physical activity for a while, should be a couple weeks before shes back to full strength. Now if you'll excuse us we've got to be moving on."
"Thanks for the help." Jack replied, relief washed over him, but it came back as soon as it disappeared, as a massive ship suddenly appeared over the country. It had strange pods coming from the side and were flying down to earth.
"Uh guys? I'm not seeing things right?"

“David I believe that thing just answered your question, by the looks of them they’re not of human design, I've never seen anything like It.”
Upon examining the directions of the craft they seemed to be heading all over the place.
“Well I think we all know where the wrecking ball came from. Any suggestions what to do because I do believe the earth has just had its first encounter of an alien life form, and they’re not friendly.”

3 Days after the cinemas...

Jack walked through the hospital quickly, he was on his way to find out what the noise outside was. He reached the window and saw more aliens trying to breach the perimeter. They were being held back but the military guarding the hospital were losing ground, they just kept coming. He ran back down the hall to where Cassandra was recovering, everyone was gathered in her room.

"We need to leave," Jack started, "It's not safe here. We're just going to get slaughtered if they manage to break through the checkpoint." He was pacing back and forth, thinking of ways to get out of the hospital. He's been like this for the three days they were there. Continuously thinking how they were going to get out. He stopped, with a look of revelation on his face.
"I wonder if there's a sewer pipe under the hospital we can access? No to risky, they may have it locked down..." An explosion sounded, he got used to them as the tanks tried blowing up floating alien thing in the sky.

They'd all been placed in the same small room, so many other people were wounded and seeking shelter that they had no choice. The most critically injured of the group got the beds, the rest of them made due with blankets on the floor. The food rations were terrible, and Asher felt about as impatient as Jack looked. He watched his friend pace around the room. Although they were surrounded by military forces, Asher didn't really feel that much safer.

He sat grimly with his back against one wall. "I agree," he piped up with Jack expressed his desire to leave, "Here, we're just waiting around to die. The enemy--" he'd taken to calling the invaders simply that, "--must be focusing their energy elsewhere or we'd probably already be dead. Those weapons of theirs could've leveled this place days ago. It's almost like they're…toying with us. Maybe trying to see what we can throw at them."

He looked around at the others. He'd underwent a dramatic change over the last few days, after the initial attack at the theatre. The quiet, introverted boy had steeled his nerves. Maybe he was still in shock, maybe he still wasn't recovered from the concussion, but maybe this was who he really was: someone sort of cold and unfeeling. He'd felt that way when his parents separated, when he went and hid himself away from the world. now he couldn't hide, he could only act. So out of necessity, he did so.

Rising from his feet he put a hand on Jack's shoulder to stop his pacing. "Underground is a good start, we should at least try it."

Cassandra watched her friends in silence from her spot on the hospital bed, whether it be from the shock of alien invaders or physical trauma, even she didn't know.

During her three day stint in the hospital, doctors and nurses had removed the shrapnel, stopped the bleeding, and sewed up the entry wound. A jagged scar above her navel, about three inches in lengh, was the mark it left. The mark those invading foreigners and their weapons gave her. And though her abdomen was still working its way back to normality, she was more than ready to leave.

Her friend's injuries were mostly healed, although a few concussions still remained and a hand was being fixed as best it could, and she felt anxious and guilty. What if they left her here and went on without her? Or worse: They waited for her to competely heal, only to be killed by invading forces? That would be worse than any imaginable injury in Cassy's mind.

Davidson had been sitting in the corner, staring at his bandaged hand and thinking. The alien attack he witnessed near the cinema...It was terrifying. It shook the world and it shook him. 'So many people dead.' He thought. His hand clenched into a fist. 'Something will be done about this. I'm making sure of it. I will not let the same thing happen to my friends. I will not let this happen to anymore innocent people.' If someone had looked into his eyes, they would have seen pure, concentrated hatred. The eyes were the windows to the soul and Davids' soul became tainted.

"You don't think there will be aliens down there? These guys are combat based. They obviously don't want peace. You don't think they've had experience? You don't think they'll be underground to stage a surprise attack?" Then it hit him. "Unless they're already drilling up...Unless they're already here." As if on cue, the sounds of gun fire, screaming and plasma bolts filled his ears. His eyes widened. Then narrowed.

Ray was sitting in a corner, sharpening his new makeshift shiv. The doctors had removed the alien shard of orange shrapnel from his arm, and told him they were amazed that he hadn't lost his entire arm. Ray decided to hold onto the piece of shrapnel, first as a memento, but then chose to put it to a more practical use. He had first taken the remains of his torn shirt for a handle, then added the leather from a belt he stole from a deceased patient. A piece of plastic was the crossguard, held in place by superglue. The blade was jagged and wicked looking, and surprisingly sharp.

His parents were missing, but Ray wasn't surprised with all the chaos going on. They weren't in the morgue, which was something. He hoped they were okay, and he hoped that he'd live through this madness too. To keep himself occupied, he worked on his knife. The more he thought about improving his weapon, the less he worried about his family, his friends, himself, or about humanity as a whole.

The fighting grew in volume, and Ray hissed as he turned; he accidentally cut his finger on the orange blade. "Damn this thing is sharp. At least we don't have to fight them unarmed." He chuckled nervously, wondering what good a stupid knife would do against an alien with whatever crazy ray-gun they had.

After a long while, Cassy finally decided to speak. Her tone wasn't happy and cheerful like it usually was, is was low and soft, almost depressed sounding.
"If we were to go underground, how would I get down there? I can't even walk right. What if...they...find us there?? I'd be so dead..."

After hearing Ashers agreement Jack calmed down a little, when he heard Cassandra speak he walked over and grabbed her by the shoulders.
"We're not going to leave you behind. I'll carry you myself if I have to." he reassured her, smiling. He looked over to where David was and saw his concerned look.
"what's wrong?"
