As the title says, this is just a thread to garner interest for some different ideas I've had for roleplays lately. :D

The first idea is inspired by something that a friend of mine came up with a long time ago but never really got very far. It involves a group of kids that begin to develop elemental powers after doing a dare in a local mansion that was supposedly haunted. I'm leaning more towards this being a character-interaction focused roleplay, rather than a plot-focused one. In other words, the plot will derive from interactions rather than something like a great evil that must be stopped.

The second idea is something of an superpowered academy roleplay, except that all of the powers are psychic in origin. Virtually anything is acceptable, so long as it is a psychic ability. This could also take place in a camp setting, which may be easier/more refreshing than an academy. I just think that limiting abilities to only those that are psychic in origin is an interesting twist.

The third idea I have is about a world where people have powers, but are hunted by the government. These people are referred to as Magi, and their powers are all magical in origin. Regardless, this hunting leads to the formation of a haven of sorts where Magi can come together to live and avoid persecution. This idea is also inspired by a roleplay I had been in previously (I was looking at old characters and got a hankering to use them again, sue me. :P).

While I have some general ideas for plots and such, I wanted to wait until I saw if any of these got any support before devoting the time to fully flesh them out. I'm up for doing any of the three ideas (else they wouldn't be up there ;)), so I'll do any of them that get enough interest, which would be around five people. Personally, I would love it if enough people got interested in all three for me to warrant starting them. Anywho, feel free to voice your interest(s) below! :D

I'd be interested in the first idea. It seems really cool.

The second idea is also cool. Sign me up for both~

Regarding the first one - what are all of the elements that will be developed? And I'm guessing that, if it's just the original four elements, we will stop the RP at four players? Over-stuffed RP's usually die out relatively quickly, after all...

I was thinking more along the lines of five or six elements. :D An exact listing will take me some time to finalize, but the main four will be there.

Alrighty, gotcha. Welp, I'm totally interested. If I'm not here tomorrow, and the OOC is created for the First Plot, do you mind reserving me the element of Fire? (Unless, of course, you decided to make a Darkness/Shadow/Void element; in that case, I'd like that reserved? ^^)

For the first one, I figure that the elements will be the typical ones: Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Light, and Dark. :3 That just seems to be the best way to do it. Of course, the specializations of the elements, like Ice for Water, belong to that element as well.

@Soul: I'll let you reserve darkness. :3 I'll be reserving fire, as I have a character for it that I've been wanting to play. :P

Thanks for your interest guys! :D I'll work on fleshing ideas one and three out today. I should be able to get the OOC for the first idea up tonight after I get off work. :3 Feel free to ask any questions, though be warned that I probably won't be able to answer until much later. Sorry about that.

There are some things that I'm going to need to discuss with you guys before doing the first idea, as that's the one with most interest at the moment.

First: Is everyone okay with the elements? I'm not sure how everyone feels about having Light and Dark as elements with the other four, so that's why I'm asking. :3

Second: How exactly should the kids obtain their abilities? Should it be something that anyone could learn, but they have an affinity for that leads to them developing the abilities without intention? Should it be straight-up magic? I was thinking of something along the lines of crystals that hold the elemental energy and imbue it to the kids once they discover them.

Third: Regardless of how they come across their abilities, I want them to discover them in a haunted house that the kids are dared to spend the night in. So, I would like to know what haunted house you guys would prefer:
1, 2, or 3. Just let me know which one you guys want and the one that gets the most votes will be used. :3 It will also kind of set up the setting for the rest of the town as well, but that's not as important and much more flexible for me. :P

I'm fine with shadow and light, I don't think it should be something anyone can learn. and house 2

Of course I'm fine with Shadow and Light! Shadow4lyfe.

It shouldn't be something anyone could learn. This allows other plots which may include the feds...? I think it should just be manipulation - not magic. Absolute manipulation. This allows for more flexible antics, I believe. And I like the crystal idea.

I like Number Two Sp00ky house.

I am going to reserve an earth character if that's ok and while I'm partial to house one I like number two as well.

Is it alright that I have Air? XD I hate to call dibs, but if that's what everyone else is doing: then count me in.

Okay, so I'm going to go ahead and say that something in the house activated a latent ability in the children that gave them access to their powers. While the kids probably won't know the reason why they suddenly developed powers, I think it might be interesting if the site was an old lab facility, perhaps during the Cold War when making psychic soldiers was an idea?, and that the energy from the experiments was what triggered the powers. That might also be a good way to bring Feds into the plot later on. ;)

All reservations are accepted! :3 So far, we only have Light and Water left. I'll explain more about the elements when I get the OOC up.

It seems like number two is the winner then. :P

Speaking of the OOC, I apologize, but I won't be able to get it up until tomorrow, when I don't have to work. I didn't get home until around midnight, and I have to be up a decent hour tomorrow, so I just didn't have the time. Again, I apologize. Hopefully we can get the last two people tonight though! :D

First off, thanks for your interest, Rarity. :D That means we only have Light left.

As for my idea of linking the current events to the Cold War, I guess from the lack of response that that is okay. :3 If not, correct me now.

This isn't so much for plot, but I thought that it would strengthen character interaction if every character had an embarrassing secret of some kind. I'm not sure if I want the characters to all know each others' secrets, as they are best friends, or if its something that they discover as the roleplay goes on, but I do think that it will add some depth to the characters. Thoughts? :P

Now I'll be getting the OOC up, so wait anxiously for that. ;)

Oh, sorry for not responding. I didn't notice it.

But yes, I'm fine with that idea.

As for the embarrassing secret...well, it seems cool. ^^ Does it have to be dark, or just embarrassing/humiliating?

@Soul: I thought that it would be something that they really wouldn't want someone knowing. It doesn't even have to be all that humiliating, just a tad embarrassing. Maybe they secretly collect something that they might be laughed at for, or maybe they're involved in a sport that often gets made fun of. Use your imagination! :D If you don't want to do that, you don't have to, but I thought that it would be interesting and provide more depth to interactions.

@Nobodyman123: Thanks for your interest! :3
