While I doubt this RP will end up being simple the core idea behind it is.

In this RP you are the leader of a merc group, or even a lone merc depending on how you spend your cash in the Mechwarrior/Battletech universe, you have 25,000,000 C-Bills you can spend on whatever you feel like though if you have something like clan tech or experimental tech I will need a good reason as to why you have that, and it is the beginning of the Jihad. Go out and make a name for yourself.

I will keep a rolling list of jobs, their pay, their employer, description, etc. The focus of the story will be driven by high end jobs, these will have no limit to the number of people that can go on these jobs, they will generally pay a lot better as well. You do not have to go on these jobs, especially if a previous job just savaged your forces and you need some respite and there will be plenty of secondary jobs from suicide runs to milk runs depending on taste and how empty that bank account of yours is looking at the moment or how shiny that new Atlas is looking.

You will have to pay pilots and ground crew, keep people and mechs/tanks.aerospace fighters maintained, secure transport to jobs, and everything else that would be required of the leader of a mercenary band. Of course there are ways around much of that such as only taking jobs that provide a transport to the job site, hiring someone else entirely to do your logistics, etc. So you do not need to have a head for numbers just hire someone to have a head for numbers and I will take care of it as GM.

So, anyone interested?

Edit: Almost forgot to note, as soon as the PCs drop in we are going AU and how far AU depends on the PCs.

So I decided to go ahead and make my own merc force for now. The Black Lances, a combined arms force with limited mobility they excel more in urban combat though are capable as an all around force. I plan to spend about 2 million more C-bills on things like spare ammo and supplies with the remaining acting as a small buffer for payment though I plan to start with everyone at the start of their newest job including myself but you never know when a few extra million C-bills could be useful.

6,207,250 C-bills - Hammerhands Heavy Battlemech
4,800,000 C-Bills - 12x Raiden Battlearmor Suits
- 135,000 C-Bills - 12x Small Lasers
- 114,000 C-Bills – 12x Tsunami Heavy Gauss Rifle
1,393,467 C-bills - Myrmidon Medium Tank
1,393,467 C-bills - Myrmidon Medium Tank
3,044,667 C-bills - Behemoth Heavy Tank
3,044,667 C-bills - Behemoth Heavy Tank

20 298 518 C-Bills - Total Cost
4,701,482 C-Bills Left

Everything comes fully loaded and it is assumed all crew and pilots have been paid their wages recently at the start of the RP.

As a Battletech fan, I think this could be pretty awesome! I'm not sure how much interest it will garner, being a pretty niche idea, but I would certainly be up for it.

I'm definitely interested. I've always been a fan of the BattleTech universe. I'm gonna take a look at the creation method you listed there, and see what I can throw together.

Pretty much just pull the costs from the wiki if you are using the base model and if you have a program like megamek it will list the costs of all the varients. Maintenance will be like 5% of the mech's cost monthly though custom jobs and omnimechs would cost more to maintain.

The openning major job people can take will take place in the Chaos March with a world the Federated Suns are trying to influence into aligning with them under assault by a Liao backed world. Both sides will be offering about the same pay and benefits prior to negotiations.

So I'm thinking this route, but I'm surprised that an Atlas II Mech is so inexpensive at only 11,198,000 C-Bills. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong Atlas?

1x Atlas II Assault Mech- 11,198,000 C-Bills
4x Axel Main Battle Tank - 5,519,252 C-Bills
8x Inner Sphere Standard Battlearmor - 3,200,000 C-Bills
1x Heavy LRM Carrier - 2,940,000 C-Bills
Total - 22,857,252 C-Bills
Remainder - 2,142,748 C-Bills

Thoughts?

Here's my Capellan/Kuritan-inspired roster.

5,349,575 C-bills - Catapult CPLT-K2
(Breaking the mold of the Catapult, this House Kurita model removes the LRM-15 launchers and replaces them with two PPCs, allowing the Catapult to act as a direct fire support 'Mech and take a more active role in front line combat. The 'Mech mounts five additional single heat sinks to help dissipate the added heat from the PPCs and two Machine Guns to deter infantry attacks. Space is made by removing the jump jets and two of the medium lasers.)

5,212,800 C-bills - Grand Dragon DRG-1G
(Arguably the original Grand Dragon produced in 3024, this 'Mech is itself a variant of the original Dragon. The 'Mech is armed with a PPC, LRM-10 launcher, and a trio of Medium Lasers (one of which mounted to the 'Mech's rear). It is also only capable of achieving a top speed of 86.4 km/h, as it employs a standard fusion engine due to the technical imitations of the 3rd Succession War.)

2,161,250 C-bills - Regulator Hovertank
2,161,250 C-bills - Regulator Hovertank
2,161,250 C-bills - Regulator Hovertank

4,800,000 - Fa Shih Battle Armor x12 (three platoons of four men each)

Total - 21,846,125 C-bills
Remaining - 3,153,875 C-bills

I am liking this force, lots of close range punch and that is indeed the correct Atlas. It uses a standard engine and am not sure if it uses endo steel which both would slash the cost.

Built on a standard internal structure and using twelve and a half tons of Light Ferro-Fibrous armor, the designers were forced to use a downgraded Magna 195 fusion engine instead of the normal 260, giving this design a top speed of 56 km/h and a jumping capacity reduced accordingly to ninety meters.)1,436,000 C-bills - Po Heavy Tank (LB 10-X variant)1,436,000 C-bills - Po Heavy Tank (LB 10-X variant)1,436,000 C-bills - Po Heavy Tank (LB 10-X variant)3,555,125 C-bills - Brutus Assault Tank (PPC variant)3,555,125 C-bills - Brutus Assault Tank (PPC variant)4,800,000 - Fa Shih Battle Armor x12 (three platoons of four men each)Total - 21,755,650 C-billsRemaining - 3,244,350 C-bills

I suppose I did not say but I was planning for the starting year of the RP to be 3067. The stuff you have from over that year if you can justify it in your character background once I get the OOC up you can probably write it out as prototype or trial models you got your hands on since it is all close to the start year though your early maintenance costs would be a bit higher than usual.

I am thinking that the first big operation will be like 5 million per company sized formation per week and 50% salvage rights

I had just changed up my list a bit before I ready your comments. The only thing post-3067 right now is the K4, and that's only one year. I guess I can grab a K2 instead.

That is a cool force you have now, it is certainly a force Davion vets would recognize the style of with the hard hitting mobility.

I like how we are all bringing battlearmor but I guess it is just too nice to pass up that kind of firepower in a unit that small.

I will probably have the OOC up Monday, and if your battlearmor has modular mounts you will need to purchase the weapons for those mounts.

Also, funny enough I had banked like 2 million planning to buy spare parts and extra ammunition so I would not have to pay high demand prices during battles from my employer but after trying to figure out what to buy I realized that while it is possible working out those costs and banking 2 million does not seem too work in my favor really and a more short term purchase is probably better like what you two did. So I may be getting some harassers, hetzers, a light mech, or something like more battlearmor.

Edit: I am trying to devise a way to seperate the factions on payment. It will probably be something like Liao paying 4-4.5mil per week but offering 60% salvage and the salvage rights offered are purely you keep what you kill. Davion will b offering like 6-6.5 mil and 40-50% salvage rights though takes first pic and purchases 50% of salvage from you in C-bills.
