Name: Jason Frost
Nickname/Title: Phantom
Team Title: Midnight
Gender: Male
Age: 24
Position: Asylum
Specialty: Sniffer
Alchemic Style: Vocem, Sigillum.
Asylum Code: XXIII (23) Tattooed on right shoulder
Weapons:
Pocket Aces - A sword-baton that splits in half at the middle so Jason can use them as two swords. The hilt of one half is designed to sheath the blade of the other, so it simply looks like a regular cane when Jason carries it around.
Dead Man's Hand - Throwing cards with steel razor edges. Jason creates sigils on the cards before throwing them, giving them devastating effects when he's not using them as simple cutting instruments.
Final Gambit - While not really deployed as a weapon, Jason uses this wrist mounted crossbow to fire grappling hooks, electronic bugs and at times, poison darts to incapacitate his opponent. Discreet and silent, it is hidden simply with a long sleeve and the only sign of its presence is the glint of the bolt before it's fired. He also uses anti-alchemy substance on the bolts.
Alchemy specialization: Illusionist
Through eye contact and subtle phrasing of words, Jason can make weave near perfect illusions that fool practically all five senses. The catch is that his illusions are only as convincing as his knowledge of his subject, for a bold-faced lie that they would never believe would fall apart as an illusion. The mental condition of the subject is also a factor - a paranoid, fearful target is more likely to fall completely under the illusion than someone who is in prime mental condition. Their awareness of his ability to cast illusions also affects how successful they are - a target who is unaware of his deception would only be more likely to believe it, after all.
Appearance:
Jason at first glance, seems like the typical model - he is blonde, tall, slender and carries himself with an air of charm and elegance. He is handsome, fair-skinned and fashionable - he is always impeccably dressed and exudes the aura of a refined gentleman... or at least, a rich playboy. He has blue eyes. though they flash green when using his alchemy. The reason why is unknown, though Jason attributes to a freak accident or two during his training.
His clothes hide the many details that show him for his profession as an Asylum - the tattoo on his right shoulder, the toned musculature of a fighter and the occasional bruise. He normally walks around in a trench coat or something similar, that hides the many packs of cards he carries.
Personality:
Jason would seem like the typical roguish fool to strangers - he rarely speaks seriously, preferring to reply with wit, sarcasm and humour or derailing conversations entirely with his flirtations. He can sound rather condescending in his speech or feign ignorance to annoy people deliberately. He likes to gamble, has a liking for alcohol and a lavish lifestyle, not to mention a tendency to be a thief on top of his job as an Asylum. All these things, however, are simply because he is a master manipulator - by making the other party irate, he has the upper hand in the conversation and can more easily ferret out information or force them to slip up.
With his partner or close friends, however, his more personable side is shown - he is a patient and tolerant listening ear, always ready to offer help or taking the initiative to do the simplest things like pouring them tea without being asked. He would also be the first to put himself in harm's way to protect them. The exact opposite can be said for those who have made themselves his enemies. He is ruthless and will not rest until vengeance is exacted, and one is always able to tell just on which end of the spectrum they stand with him.
History:
Jason has little to say about his past prior to joining AMRO, other than it taught him that everyone wears masks, and how to look underneath to the real person within. It's not that it's some dark secret, it was just fairly uneventful - he grew up the son of a mildly successful businessman and witnessed all the politicking and forced niceties his father had to go through in order to secure contracts and deals in order to grow his business and provide for the family.
He took an instant disliking to the idea and despite his father's best attempts to teach him otherwise, used all of his charm to seduce impressionable young women with cheap magic tricks. It was how he caught the attention of an alchemist, who saw his potential and trained him, seeing his flair for performance (albeit used for less than honorable intentions). The pair had a simple enough goal - they sought to entertain. No one would think they were Alchemists as long as they simply introduced themselves as street magicians and did simple tricks for a few tips here and there.
It was on one of these little performances that he was recruited by AMRO, who thought he could do more with his talents than simply trying to get into a girl's pants. He had never considered the dangers of Alchemy, until the Asylum that recruited him showed him one such example of a rogue Alchemist.
Things progressed as they usually did after that - Jason became an Asylum himself and continues to dislike the undramatic way he path led to his present self.
Other: He likes tea.
Name: Fiora Winters
Nickname/Title: Ghost
Team Title: Midnight
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Position: Asylum
Specialty: Hunter
Alchemic Style: Motem, Sigillum.
Asylum Code: XX (20) Tattooed on base of spine. The word "Judgement" is tattooed right beneath it, reflecting her belief that her number as an Asylum represents "Judgement" in the major arcana of tarot cards.
Weapons:
Penitence and Absolution - A pair of modified Nighthawk Lady Hawk pistols she always carries around with her. Fitted for .45 ACP rounds coated in anti-alchemy substance, the pistols have been custom made so she can 'cast' with them - each bullet she fires is enchanted in the gun chamber itself instead of having to do so beforehand, giving her more versatile firepower.
Retribution - A sniper rifle with anti-Alchemy rounds designed to smash through even barriers, it is also Fiora's least used weapon because it is difficult to conceal. While the rifle is designed to be compacted at will and hidden in a backpack, it is still rather cumbersome to carry around. Fiora uses this for long ranged support or taking out targets she can't reach, which is rarely the case.
Liberty - A family heirloom, this sword is strangely attuned for use with Fiora's brand of alchemy, allowing her to cut only what she intends to with it. It is slim and short enough to be hidden under her shirt on the back.
Alchemy specialization: Phasing
Fiora is able to render objects momentarily intangible, allowing her or anyone to pass through it unharmed. They would still require air, however, and so can only pass through objects that they can cross in the span of time they are able to hold their breath. This is usually done through sigils and hand movements. As long as she maintains physical contact with the object while the casting is uninterrupted, the object can be phased through with ease.
Secondarily, she is able designate a specific area of the subject to be phased through, so only a specific section of a wall may be phased through, for example. This allows her to trap her opponents by setting up a "phase field" on the ground where her target will sink into and be trapped in once they step on it, allowing her to eliminate her target while they are immobile.
Appearance:
Fiora is a fair skinned woman of Asian descent. She is slightly taller than the average female, with a slender physique. She has jet black hair which falls to elbow height and brown eyes. While she usually lets her hair down, she also ties it up in a bun or tucks it under a beanie when it gets in the way of her work. She has a gentle look to her features, and is very feminine in her movements. She dresses to avoid attention - preferring simple and plain clothing unless she is out on an assignment which requires her to do otherwise.
The only things about her dress sense that stands out is that she always has some kind of adornment in her hair and an MP3 player that could pass for a jeweled necklace that she is rarely seen without. In fact, she seems to be listening to it most of the time even when on missions and only seems to stop when someone is talking to her.
Personality:
Fiora is extremely reserved and quiet. She speaks in brief, succinct sentences and replies with one word answers most of the time. She sounds lethargic at worst or speaks in a monotone at best. Some might mistake her as being emotionless or cold. An introvert at heart, she minimises her contact people as much as possible, unless they are close, trusted friends. A few at AMRO might even go so far as to say they've never seen her carry a conversation with anyone other than her partner.
The truth is, Fiora is extremely passionate and lively once she warms up to someone. While she is shy and easily embarrassed when people catch her bopping her head to music or 'fangirling' over a book she's reading, she is more than willing to share her interests and joy with them once she gets past that initial stage of awkwardness. Some might even go so far as to call her a 'kuudere'. If one were to expose her in public however, they would be met with fierce denial of the fact in her usual, cold demeanour.
Fiora is also an extremely focused individual. She will not give up on something once she sets her mind on accomplishing it, which makes her an excellent Hunter. It also means that any skill she has strived to pick up, she has mastered to near perfection. This can cause her to tunnel vision and tune out the people around her to the point of being rude, however. The only evidence to the contrary being the moments when she shows her kind and gentle side - passing someone coins at the vending machine when they're out of change without a word spoken, for example.
History:
Fiora hails from a line of Alchemists that have been perfecting their art for generations. As such, she was trained at a young age to carry on the family tradition. While her instruction in Alchemy was well ahead of most at her age, it was also a lot more strenuous and demanding - the need to excel at her craft without succumbing to insanaddiction, for example. was something was drilled into her from the very first lesson.
Fiora was unaware at the time that her parents were using their phasing alchemy to steal money and jewels from well guarded locations, but when the family seemed to be getting more wealthy inexplicably, she was instantly curious about how her parents had amassed such a fortune so quickly. She soon found out the truth but was unable to confront her parents about it, for they would only demand her silence each time she tried. Soon, their heists got bolder and more daring, and Fiora could see the beginning of insanaddiction in her parents.
She spent many a night crying herself to sleep, unsure of how she could stop her parents or persuade them to quit while nobody was on to them. One night, however, she was awoken as the doors to her home were blasted open with a deafening crash and a pair of Asylums came in to exterminate her parents. Unbeknownst to her, their last few jobs had resulted in severe casualties that had not made it to the news with the gruesome way they had been carried out. When the pair reached her, however, they stayed their hand. They were only interested in rogue Alchemists, and a young girl who had done no wrong was not a criminal to be hunted down.
Instead, they brought her back to AMRO and trained her. Fiora's memories of that night reminded her of the price of failure, of losing control and restraint. She would do her best to prevent other Alchemists from the same fate and stop those who had gone too far from hurting any more people than they already had.
