Much appreciated! I'll be all too happy to play off of others aside from the GM when the opportunity arises. Personally, I'm fine with Veitaru heading over to the graveyard. Where else is an antisocial quasi-criminal bored of laying atop a windmill going to go?

I definitely don't have a problem with people coming up with NPCs. If you're going to make them a CS, however, that's kind of where a certain unwritten rule I came up with comes into play-- that the NPC will start hearing the whispers in the night.

Here's the trick of it, though-- none of your characters are really obligated to do as the voice says at this point. And when your character is created is sort of when the whispers begin for them in a sense. So if we were on day 10 in the IC and you threw in your new character, one of four things would happen:

-Your character didn't start hearing the voice until just the night/a few nights before
-The voice had come to them just like everyone else but they had ignored it and not gone to the festival.
-They had been hearing the voice for some time only it was telling them something different compared to what everyone else was originally told (to go to the festival)
-They have yet to hear the voice at all but eventually will

(We would kind of work something out via PM most likely.)

You can make and control an NPC for however long you like, but if it seems to me that you're playing him/her more than your actual character or they've become a pretty substantial part of the group, I'll probably ask that either the NPC fades out soon or you make a CS for them. This isn't so much of an invitation to go careening down a ton of player-made side-quests as it is an invitation to make side characters and small situation/occurrences that will add some believable zing to the overall story/quest.

Understood. I wouldn't have any of my fanciful NPCs be all that important or persistent (RPG gods willing), I just like making character sheets. Inventing backstories and personalities and playing out different characters is pretty fun. However, I think I'll just stick to the Kokiri child for now. Don't want to clog up the IC with unnecessary characters, we have a ton of them already... Unless Mila dies, which is entirely possible. Then I'll craft someone else.

Has the festival started in anyone's post or anything sub-substantial? Just knowing that, while I don't mind reading other posts, I'd just like to post without having to worry that I NEED to check a post. To which I've read a few. Something that I just want to do in my post. Also sorry that I didn't post this weekend. I got pretty busy.

The Festival is going on right now, but let me fill you in on a few pointers:

>Felicia was harassed by a somewhat love-struck Jira, who happened to get a reekfish to the face.
>Kaiver let in Izzaz (i.e the "Wolfos Rider' aka The Crimson Hound) and is now being disciplined by a pompous knight and superior (Sir Orca Halbert)
>A little friendly chat between Mila and Elder Lyontus
>Frore goes out and touches a child's hand, alerting a crowd and a fairy that transports them to Graveyard nearby.

So... Not much.

Tempted between two responses...

1. Response #1: Mila successfully creates and sells the potion to Magus. This brew will have much of the same properties of magical nitroglycerin (don't shake it, don't expose it to light, etc.). Chalk it up to having readily available resources having just come from Goron City and in a public gathering. Price: 35 Rupees. Bottle comes at the price of an extra 30 Rupees (bottles ain't cheap).

2. Response #2: Mila botches brewing her potion and ends up detonating her stall, narrowly escaping the resulting blast for comedic effect. Miraculously, no one is gravely injured from this (by GM discretion). Chaos and hilarity intensifies.

Thinking about rolling a d6 for this one. Odds = Ordinary Success. Evens = Explosions. Regardless, I'll let a few posts happen first.

Considering what money Magus has, exploding the stall would be less awkward.

Considering...

Not to metagame, but since Magus looks dirt poor (after all he's just a shadow puppet), a small explosive will do that might not attract too much attention. Plus, any explosions will be minimal, in which the worst case scenario is the stall catching on fire.

I wish I had enchanted a sword or something so I could sell it for some moneys. Ghost blades are worth a damn fortune.

For future reference to all,

Please be careful when making assumptions about NPCs I create. Namely when you would like your character to have had a lot of past interaction with them. Just shoot me a PM and run it by me first, please.

Like, Sir Halbert is most definitely full of himself, but he isn't a scheming criminal trying to extort the system due to his high status. To say he was would be to accuse the King of being a fool for favoring such a man. Halbert has had many noble accomplishments and saved many lives. The people see him as a sort of hero. He is a man of and for the people although he has been known to speak condescendingly to his fellow military men as well as anyone who doesn't admit he's totally awesome and a sculpture of manly perfection.... In the end though, he tends to not really care whether or not you like him, because he totally loves himself enough to cover the gap.

So what you're saying is that he is an ass, but the kind of ass that you know would have your back when the kingdom was in danger and the shit had hit the windmill?

It might be for the best that Magus isn't looking in the direction of your character... He would have to kill him.

Jira: *sweats nervously*

XD He is an ass isn't he? The dance doesn't do shit its just another one of his conman ploys. Think of it like flipping a coin into any well and deeming your wish will come true, nothing but supernatural hocus babble. Thing is, fortune telling, warding off bad spirits and stuff like that, people eat that stuff up, especially at festivals *wink wink*

Not to say there isn't truth in some methods, but that little jive is nothing but a parlor trick. Magus would have every right to want to tear his throat out ^^

Although true, some people that aren't part of the Ye Ole Sir Orca Halbert Fan Clubâ„¢ that would think ill of him would attract shady zealots and fangirls against them, bordering on criminal intent just to silence critics and 'haters'. Jabs at his pride however, are a different matter.

Edit: I'm not saying this because I disagree with you, but he might have a indirect connection to them regardless.

Ehh, that could be true, I guess-- for a few of his more weirdly loyal and dimwitted fans... He isn't exactly a Hyrulian Justin Beiber though. He's popular, but I doubt the masses as a whole would react that way.

The point I'm mainly trying to make is that he isn't corrupt in a criminal sense-- he's very much a lawful man-- and in the future I would only ask that prior relationships with my NPCs be run by me first. That would kind of include the creation and characterization of any posses my NPCs may or may not have. I'm pretty flexible and I'll do my best to give you as much to go off of as possible so you won't have to be asking me about every little thing, but yeah. To me, it's kinda akin to puppeting my characters without permission or warning.

Np, Axel. I really actually love that you're all for tying characters together, just so you know! I don't want to discourage you from it! I guess I'm just a teense bit more particular with /some/ of my NPCs. I think in the future I'll just star the ones I'm more particular about. I used to use colored text to indicate important NPCs, but Mahz hasn't added that feature yet. :(
