A dense mist rolls off the Bayou and creeps along the old cobblestone road. It almost appears to have a purpose and sense of direction as it glides along the path in front of your dimmed headlights. The only visible figure in the shroud of fog and weeping willows is an aged sign reading ‘Welcome to Saint-Vienne’. You’re finally here.

[In 1796, the Vienne family owned a successful plantation and all the large plots of land surrounding it. The area was expansive enough to form a small town, and that was the exact thought process of the family. Through the combined power of wealth, slavery and blackmail, the secretive patriarch James Vienne went about creating Saint-Vienne, in hopes of it becoming a popular resort for the rich and famous.
The process was doomed from the start. Death followed the project like a vulture. Accidents were far too common, and rumors began to spread that the Vienne family was not the wholesome southern American dream that they so desperately tried to portray. Tales of torture, murder, incest and horrific experiments all circled the area, along with a story of a curse laid down upon the land.
The town was completed in 1813 and was beautiful and lavish by anyone’s standards, yet the public avoided it and the few surviving Vienne family members were forced to live out their remaining days in poverty.
History has since forgotten Saint-Vienne, but the town remembers everything.]

- -All characters will have a dark character trait or moment in their past that they're struggling to deal with.
- -You find yourself drawn to the Louisiana ghost town for any number of reasons. Maybe you receive a post card from a family member or lover asking for your help. Maybe you dream about it every night. A job or road trip can have you 'passing through' the area. It's up to you. If your backstory requires an NPC, let me know in your application so I can create them. I'll only allow 3 characters to have this option to keep the town feeling abandoned.
- -When you arrive you'll find a map, which i'll post in the OOC. It will show you everywhere you can explore in the town. Each building has a certain amount of items (usually a specific amount of food, a certain weapon type, an item needed for a puzzle later on, and some miscellaneous objects that you can get creative with.) Once they're gone, they're gone forever (unless a character dies and you loot them off their body), so use them wisely.
- -There are monsters lurking in the darkness, as well as a few stronger and more menacing ones that stand between you and better items/story progression. Average monsters can be fought off and run from, but you'll need to get more creative with the boss creatures.
- -There will also be puzzles and riddles occasionally required to advance through the story.
- -This game will be fairly fast paced. Post as long or as short as you want, but each post must either respond to another character, advance the story, or accomplish something, just so we don't end up going in circles. If you're not sure what to do, pm me or ask in the OOC for a hint or clue.

- Name: Olive Bishop
- Gender: Female
- Age: 23
- Description:
First and foremost, Olive is blind. If her white cane wasn't a giveaway, her horrendous mismatched over-sized clothes would make it obvious. That combined with her small stature, she’s rather pitiful to look at. Her long wavy auburn hair is often hanging in front of her milk gray eyes, since there’s no real need to pull it out of the way. - Occupation: Music Teacher
- Personality: Surprisingly she’s not quite as helpless as she seems. Olive has been blind since she was 5, that’s a lot of time to learn to adapt. Her hearing, sense of smell and touch are all heightened and she has a strong sense of ingenuity, even if it is sometimes clouded by emotions. Olive is far too soft-hearted and this could be her downfall in a place like Saint-Vienne. She’s also not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to picking up on sarcasm or jokes, usually choosing to take people at face value instead. Overall she’s a sweet/trusting and unassuming young woman who is going to have a hard time surviving this town.
- History:Olive was put up for adoption at the age of 3 and has only the faintest memories of her birth parents from before them. Just general shapes, smells and sounds. She moved into her first foster home at the age of 5, eager to please her new family in hopes of being adopted, but it wasn’t meant to be. The foster family was packed with other children, all sleeping on cots on the floor, eating meager portions and stealing what they needed to get by. In hindsight it was obvious her foster parents were scamming the system for the steady income it brought, but as a 5 year old she was too young to understand. One day she tried to take some money from her foster mother’s purse with the intention of buying something from the ice cream truck, when caught, her foster mother splashed bleach in her face, blinding her permanently.
After her recovery (and her foster mother’s imprisonment), Olive went from group home to group home, never being able to settle down, always wondering what it would be like if she could. Finally, when she turned 18 she started a life of her own, living independently in a small apartment and working as a children’s music teacher. - Reason for arriving in Saint-Vienne: Olive received a phone call from a woman claiming to be her birth mother, asking her to come to Saint-Vienne to meet her.
- Start off items: Bottle of Water, Matches, Granola bars (3), Walking Stick & Harmonica.
- Name: Jonas Monroe
- Gender: Male
- Age: 30
- Description:
Jonas looks like your typical country guy, tall, broad shoulder, rugged, often wearing flannel/jeans/leather boots. He's traditionally handsome but doesn't put much thought or care in his appearance, resulting in constant bed head and rumpled clothes, stained with the current day's lunch or coffee. - Occupation: Private Detective
- Personality: While no one could call him classy, he's at least a gentleman, other than the casual cursing and smoking like a chimney. Jonas usually does the right thing, but can struggle to get there with his own pride often getting in the way. He's stubborn and pig headed and likely to get himself shot with all his sarcasm and sass. If you can get past all that, he's a decent guy to have on your side.
- History: Addiction is the name of the game. You name it, he's probably tried it. In his youth, Jonas' drug of choice was heroine and theft was how he acquired it. Breaking into home and taking what he could to fill his needs. He didn't see anything wrong with it until at the age of 16 he stumbled into a house that wasn't currently vacant. The owner came at him with a gun and the two struggled. It went off while Jonas had it twisted around, facing the man, piercing his stomach and killing him slowly. Jonas hurried away from the scene of the crime, sickened with guilt, yet couldn't bring himself to go to the police. At least it was the wake up call he needed to get clean. It took years, and he still has cravings from time to time, but he hasn't touched anything other than coffee and cigarettes in over 10 years, and now tries to get rid of his guilt through helping people professionally as a private detective.
- Reason for arriving in Saint-Vienne: A case. He's hired to look for a missing person.
- Start off items: Pocket knife, water bottle, pack of cigarettes, lighter, whistle
