Bio

Y'all can call me Bard.

I've been RPing for about 15 years now.

I'm also an aspiring novelist and an avid writer of short stories.

I believe hardship and bad karma (regardless of how much good one does) are necessary for character development, aptly explained by a well selling writer:
"Be a sadist. No matter how sweet and innocent your leading characters, make awful things happen to them—in order that the reader may see what they are made of." —Kurt Vonnegut

Loralei wanted to protest so much against being carried. She hated when her father and brothers did it, even if she was wheezing so bad she couldn't walk. She especially hate it now when it was a virtual stranger - sure she saw the guy around the school, but she didn't know him - and there was a threat around. He was old, he could die. Well, she could too, but if he died because he was helping her she would never be able to live with that guilt on her shoulders.

As much as she wanted to protest, Teddy was trying to distract those things and someone had joined him. She wrapped her arms around the janitor's shoulders, doing her best to help keep her weight balanced for him. It was the least she could do since he was saving her life. The angle she put herself at gave her a view around him...right where a group of those things took down another student and started eating her.

Loralei turned her head away, tucking it down so her face was pressed into Subhas' chest. She didn't want watch the rest of what was happening to that poor girl. She didn't want to have anything to do with those things. All she wanted was to be home with her family and for all of this to be a bad dream. It didn't seem like that would turn out to be the case.

Super sorry, everyone. Life got super busy for me and I haven't had a chance until now to grab computer time. I'll do my best to get a post up tonight.

Coughing never helped, but it was reflexive with all the gasping. Loralei spent a moment on her hands and knees just trying to catch a deep enough breath to talk. She wasn't trying for a long sentence, just something enough to at least let Teddy know that this wasn't like the coughing in the cafeteria. But when her asthma flared up like this...This was why she didn't do vaulting or floor routines for gymnastics. It was also what kept her off the track and field team and prevented her from cheerleading. She hated that they made her leave her inhaler in the nurse's office; it was the rule and she understood that - not that she was ever in charge of her inhaler after forgetting it at home on multiple occasions when she was younger - but she didn't have to like it. Actually, she hadn't given it being in the nurse's office much thought after the first week, but now it kind of made her dislike it all over again.

She sat and put her head between her knees, trying to calm herself just enough to at least keep moving. The office and the only way to stop the attack weren't going to get any closer.

Unlike the whatevers around the corner.

She looked in the direction of the noise; her shoulders heaved with every failing attempt to breathe normally. Then Teddy spoke and she turned her attention to him before realizing the janitor had gotten out as well. "As...thma..." she managed quietly as two separate words parted by a quick gasp.

Oh god did it hurt when she stood. She swayed from the gasps for air and the bit of dizziness setting in from oxygen deprivation. Her lungs burnt and her knees felt like they were turning into rubber, but she didn't want Teddy sticking around on her behalf only to get hurt. Locking her knees, she put a hand on Teddy's shoulder, and looked at the janitor then pointed at the main building, mostly because it was straight ahead. Hopefully one of them took the hint to just keep going.

Loralei doubled over - hands resting on her knees to help keep her upright while she continued to gasp for breath. "Right......be....hind.......you," she managed, each syllable separated by at least two huge gasps. One word answers were easier - faster sometimes - to manage to say quickly.

Okay, that was a lie. But she didn't want either of them getting attacked by those sick people because they were helping her. Or, worse, them luring the sick people into whatever kind of safe zone they might find because trying to control asthma was neigh impossible and loud.
Loralei was about to respond to Teddy when things suddenly went from just miserable to outright chaotic. There was yelling and groaning, and - oh my god, why are they green? Oh my god, why are they attacking people? Her eyes widened as her breath caught up in her chest. It was something out of a movie or a horror story. Did she maybe fall and hit her head? That just wasn't something that happened.

In a blink of her eyes, everything erupted into a situation that was far beyond her control. Most of the cafeteria had evacuated and only a few of them remained. Someone she recognized but couldn't put a name to came over and spoke with Teddy and he seemed to snap out of his own shock at the situation. The janitor was drawing away attention. They should leave...but where?

She really didn't want to leave the janitor in here to draw attention by himself. What if they got close enough to attack him too and he ended up just like those people? She couldn't fight but she could maneuver quite well. But the guy that had spoken to Teddy said something about using the furnishings to their advantage and Teddy seemed to take it.

Loralei caught the movement out of the corner of her eye. Looking between the people going after the janitor and the door Teddy ran out, she bit her lip; the pain helped her think. Stay or go? Stay or go? A hard sigh escaped her. If anything, she'd go around to the other set of doors and make sure he got out of there; that would be more useful than potentially distracting the man trying to make sure they got out safely.

She turned and ran after Teddy.

A soft chortle escaped Loralei. She shook his hand without shifting her gaze to it. After the appropriate amount of time for shaking a hand - two Mississippi from what her agent suggested - she dropped her hand but kept a beaming smile. Things were going well so far. "I love getting to know everyone. It's nice to meet you, Teddy, Sarah, Edith, Andrew, Harry, and Toby." Her gaze drifted to each student as she said their name. "I'm Loralei."

Clasping her hands together, she rocked from flatfoot to the balls of her feet before settling back to flatfooted again. "So, what do you guys all like to do for fun? Personally, I like getting to know people and sharing stories." Her mother always told her it was easier to get people to share facts about themselves if you revealed something about yourself relevant to your question. It worked with the food thing at her other table; she hoped it would work with them too. Maybe get their minds off the horrible food.
The smile grew stronger as the others at her table piped up about foods they wanted. Loralei counted it as a victory. She managed to get their minds off the horrible food before them and onto something better. Sure, they were locked down. Hopefully it wouldn't last much longer. She wanted to see her family; especially considering she hadn't gotten a text back from any of them since the lock down went into affect. Given that - at the slightest hint of a severe storm coming their way - her father insisted they all go to his writing retreat cabin and there was no reception out there, she tried not to think too much on the lack of contact.

While those at her table continued the conversation, she took the opportunity to look around at the other tables. Which was when one of the boys in her class stood up on his table in a pose. She barely caught her giggle before it started; it was kind of stupid, but in one of those funny ways. Her gaze quickly shifted elsewhere to avoid seeming like she was encouraging the behavior. Things that could get one in trouble were definitely nothing to encourage. She spotted another table where other kids seemed miserable about the food choices.

She turned back to those at her table, offering them a bright smile. "That all sounds wonderful. You guys should keep talking; I have to speak to someone else." She flashed them a brighter smile for a moment before grabbing her tray and standing up.

Disposing of the contents of her food tray in the proper places, Loralei headed over to [Ted's] table of kids that looked younger than her. She stopped at the bit of free space at the end of the table and offered them a smile. "Hi, mind if I join you guys?"

@Beekeeper
Acting gave Loralei a healthy list of skills to call upon. Faking being happy was a skill she used now. The food being unsatisfying and the lock down both had Loralei wanting to break out already. Not possible currently. Rather than sighing with a frown like she was on the inside, she manages a smile that shines in her eyes as well. Her gaze lifts from the food she has been pushing around her plate since failing to get the first bite past her mouth.

"Hey," she says to her table in general. "If you could eat anything in the world right now, what would you pick? Me - I'd give anything for some strawberries." Maybe thinking of other foods would help. Plus, she always found 'if' scenarios to provide insight to others.
Name: Loralei Harper Parker
Gender: Female
Age (11 to 18): 17
Grade (6 to 12): 11
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Appearance:
Loralei has the petite frame of a gymnast, complete with pixie like features like a perfectly symmetrical face and properly proportioned nose. Her small bust actually fits her frame perfectly, making her Bs look like moderate Cs. Slightly shorter than average, Loralei only stands at about five foot three. Her golden topaz colored eyes are round, but she uses eyeliner to help create the illusion of narrowness/almond shape even if she isn’t wearing any other make up. Generally, she only wears nude smokey-eye eyeshadow and a lip gloss a shade or two darker than her own lips. Light brown hair color often confused with dirty blonde flows down nearly to her waist; she keeps her chin length bangs tucked behind her ears but not pinned. When not having to wear her school uniform, she typically dresses in sneakers, some nice hip hugger jeans, and a baby-tee; she likes to be comfortable over making sure she looks attractive/dolled up. She loves jewelry, especially necklaces and rings, and never goes anywhere without at least one of each.

Personality: Sweet and kind of bubbly, she has a knack for finding the silver lining to almost anything. As much as she loves sharing exciting stories, whether they’re her own exploits or someone else’s. Despite a childhood being the center of attention from her father and eldest brother, she still always wants to hear about everyone else’s day - especially if it helps her make friends with someone else. She doesn’t stand for any kind of bullying; that’s when she puts on her serious face and will step in to try to work things out peacefully.
Often times she wishes her life were more like a musical. She sometimes breaks out into a song - not in the middle of a conversation, but more out of nowhere - just to get it out of her head or because she just wants to fill the silence. It doesn’t take much to egg her on to sing or break out into monologues from plays; the more people around, the better her performance.

Bio: Youngest of four and only daughter, Loralei grew up babied and pampered *because there is a difference* by her father and overprotected by her eldest two brothers. With her love of being photographed (a regular occurrence since her eldest brother aspired to be a cinematographer or director) beginning at a young age, her mother helped get her life in front of a camera started when she was five. She did local modeling photos and commercials until she was nine, when she landed her first acting role in a children’s show as a background character with one line. After a series of appearances like that on various television shows, she finally got a break when she was fourteen and was hired on as one of the leads in a musical high school sitcom.
Despite loving it, Loralei ended up quitting the show after only two seasons; during that season her brother - William - had been injured on active duty and returned for physical therapy, her uncle had passed away, and her father was struggling with writer’s block being so far from the rest of their family. After spending the summer with her family and school hunting, she finally found Fatehaven Academy and enrolled.

Skills: Singing, acting, gymnastics, public speaking,
Weaknesses: Asthma, pacifist, Nyctophobia (super big secret), arachnophobia
Extracurricular Activities: Drama club, gymnastics team
Inventory: School Uniform, School ID, messenger bag, Ipad, notebook, pen, signed copy of her father’s first published book (just says it’s her favorite author since it’s written under a pseudonym), and a pocket photo album with pictures of her family and friends
That took longer than expected...mostly because I changed my mind about what character I wanted to put in first halfway through completing the sheet. Hope she's acceptable. I may put together a male character for this as well...tomorrow though. Now I sleep.

@Simple Unicycle Which is even weirder because the other two times you tagged me, it has worked. It could have been a simple glitch.

In other news, almost done with my sheet.
