Andrea had finally finished closing up shop for her family's restaurant, her parents were out of town remembering her mother and father asking her to keep the store running. It was a warm summer night Andrea made sure everything was locked up nice and tight to make sure that no one would break in, Andrea ran her hand through her hair and sighed softly she headed towards her car a red Honda Civic she opened the door and got in. Andrea started the engine she set the car into reverse pulling the car out of the empty parking space and started the short drive back home to her home, she turned on the radio wanting to listen to some music quietly singing to herself as a song played over the radio.

Once she was home Andrea drove her car into the garage and closed the garage door and got out doing the same as well, and locked the door before entering the house. Inside the house was dark and bare Andrea turned the light on to the kitchen and untied her hair pulling it out of the pony tail. Andrea started to think about her friend Valeria, it was five years ago when she last saw her and thought about how she was doing and if she was alright. The redhead went to the fridge and grabbed some steak she had made the night before putting it into the microwave, Andrea took the remote and turned on the tv. She took the food out of the microwave once it finished cooking grabbed a fork and knife and started to eat it.

The trip back home was something Valeria had been dreading for almost a month. She knew it was time to pack up where she currently was, but heading home was something she hadn't really planned on doing. It was her mother's doing by trying to get her a job at some swanky office. Valeria didn't need a job, well at least not anymore.

It had been five years since she stepped foot in her small hometown, four years since she was turned. She stroked the pale skin of her arm as if she was still trying to get accustomed to it. Her stomach rumbled loudly. She would have to feed and soon, before she turned into a raving bloodthirsty lunatic. She stuffed a few more items into her backpack and headed out the door. That was one thing she liked about being a vampire. Speed. She could get from one end of town to the other in the blink of an eye. Getting back to her hometown would be a cinch.

It took her a bit longer than she had anticipated to get back, she had to stop for a bite. Once she got there however, Val realized she didn't have a place to stay. She walked aimlessly down the streets, wondering who she could stay with. She didn't have a lot of friends growing up, preferring to stick to herself. Like a light bulb, the image of a fiery redhead popped into her head. Andrea would certainly take her in, although they didn't really part on the best of terms, but after some profuse apologizing, everything had the possibility of going back to normal.

She walked the rest of the way like a normal human, not wanting to draw any unnecessary attention to herself. The façade of Andrea's house was still the same, Valeria noticed as she steeled herself for what awaited her on the other side of the door. She rapped on it a bit more forcefully than she had intended. Even after all these years, she still had trouble controlling her strength. She stood quietly, waiting for the door to open. "Oh boy," she said almost breathlessly.

After finishing up her meal Andrea took her plate, knife and fork dropping them into the sink, she didn't feel like having to clean them and would do it in the morning. She turned off her TV before heading up to her bedroom inside her room looked fairly normal having a few pictures of herself and her family when she was younger. Andrea looked at a few of them with her and her friend Valeria she missed dearly.

She grabbed herself a towel and a pair of night clothes to make herself feel more comfortable, Andrea walked towards her bathroom and took off her clothes and started the shower. Andrea spent fifteen minutes washing her hair and making sure she was nice and clean before heading out and started to towel dry her hair as the redhead started to comb her hair she heard a loud knocking on the door. Andrea looked confused for a moment and quickly left the bathroom, and headed down the stairs and towards the front door.

Andrea looked through the small look through hole in the middle of the door and could see her friend standing outside the last time she saw her was a day before graduation the day was normal and they were having fun. Before the night was over she wanted to tell her how she really felt but was really nervous to, Andrea waited a few minutes before sighing softly it was good to see Val again.

Andrea slowly opened the door looking at Valeria and smiled and pulled her into a hug. "Hey Val! It's been a really long time since I last saw you how have you been?" Andrea asked before breaking the hug and stared at her, she was happy but also upset with her leaving so suddenly. "Want to come in?" Andrea asked softly.

Valeria was surprised at Andrea's reaction at first. She had been expecting a bit of a more dramatic greeting, perhaps a slap in the face or something equally harsh. It was also a shock to her that she didn't seem to flinch at her coldness or her pale skin. In her friend's defense however, it was quite dark outside. Everything still looked the same, her fiery red hair, her deep brown eyes still filled with passion.

"May I come in?" she said hopefully. She wanted to tell her everything that had happened to her in the last few years.

"Yeah sure come in." Andrea said opening the door to her house, inside the living room had a large stone fireplace, and the floor to the living room was all wooden floored along with a large rug in the middle of the room. Her brown eyes went to look at Valeria's skin noticing that it was a lot paler then she saw her in the last five years. "Five years since I last saw you, what happened why did you leave suddenly?" Andrea asked closing the door behind her and locked it the whole house didn't change it seemed other then some new couches and a new recliner in the corner of the room. She was so tempted to yell at her and slap her friend for leaving her behind and let out a soft sigh, Andrea then leaned herself against the back of the couch.

Five years nothing had really changed other then her going to college paying for her own tuition by working in her parents restaurant, most of her friends had gone and left town to either be with their boyfriends or girlfriends, It was starting to get lonely and wondered if she would ever leave her parents house. She wanted to know everything where her friend had gone and reached out to hold Valeria's hand feeling that it was extremely cold to the touch and looked really confused. Her brown eyes meeting Val's it was the middle of summer and her body was freezing. "Why are you so cold?" Andrea asked softly.

Valeria's gaze went down to the floor, as if the answer to Andrea's question could be found written on it. "Well, there's a lot I need to tell you," she began, not really knowing how to continue. She cleared her throat. "I'm in town for a bit. Mom got me this job at an office downtown, and I was wondering if I could crash here for a bit?" There, that should distract her from the current issue, the vampire thought.

"I know it's not the best way to come back to an old friend, but I didn't really know anyone else," she smiled but didn't show her teeth. She didn't need the only person she knew in this godforsaken dump to run in fear of her. "It's only for a bit," she continued, looking at Andrea hopefully.

Andrea leaned herself against the back of the couch crossing her arms over her chest and stared Valeria down was that all she wanted a place to stay while her mother helped her get a new job downtown? "Well you know you can tell me. I won't lie though I was really upset I really wanted to tell you something but you were gone the day of graduation." Andrea said sounding slightly annoyed.

"Do you want something to drink or eat?" The redhead offered she wasn't sure how far Val had traveled or if she was hungry or not. "We have a lot to catch up on though you don't have to tell me everything though. And you can stay in the guest room as well." Andrea got up and walked up to Val feeling the air around her get slightly cooler she gave Val another hug feeling her freezing cold skin and quickly backed away. "Your freezing Val."
