Sorry, missed this off the map:

Orange = Holy Roman Empire.

Caliban, you're dealing with the Germans, not the Ayyubids. My bad, I can see how the confusion came about.

I will battle resolve shortly, though the season wont end until tomorrow. Need to give Marra a chance, I only got her tech tree to her today. It was difficult to make it, as her race is mainly based around deception rather than aggression.

Stay tuned!

That is correct. If you disperse the illusions so he can actually get in, he will wander around and see what's going on. You wont get the diplomatic result until the start of autumn, however. You can just make it so he cant' though, in which case everything remains a mystery to the humans and indeed the Papacy.

BATTLE RESULTS

Portugal

Lorenvolk Human Militia vs King Sancho I of Portugal

Militia Force: 5,000

Portuguese Royal Army: 8,000

Lorenvolk:

20% Militia vs Professional penalty

Total: 55% Losses

40% casualty difference = Desertion Roll = 15%

Total Losses: 70% (3,500)

Portugal:

Casualty Roll: 20%

Disaster Roll: 5% to enemy casualties - 5% to own casualties.

Total Losses: 15% (1200)

Portuguese victory.

Vel'Lisk Legion vs King Sancho I of Portugal

Lorenvolk: 1,000

Portuguese Royal Army: 6,800

Lorenvolk:

5% Force Size Difference (6,000 vs 8,000 25% difference)

Casualty Roll: 25%

Disaster Roll: 20%

Total: 45% (450)

Portgual:

Lorenvolk Superior Warriors: 15%

Lorenvolk Magic: 5%

Casualty Roll: 35%

Disaster Roll : -15%

Total: 40% (2720)
Portuguese Remaining forces: 4080

Portugese Total Losses: 49% (3,920)

Lorenvolk Militia Remaining: 1,500 (3,500 losses)

Lorenvolk Warriors: 550 (450 losses)

Total: 76%

Portuguese Victory, Lorenvolk beaten back across the border. Morale reduced by 25%.

You were unlucky. I would advise scouting places first, as walking into them without knowing what's there can mean you get out numbered. Even so, you rolled heavily on your disaster/casualty rolls.

I wasn't expecting to be thrashed by the humans in the first battle of the game. :( Especially given armies of barely a thousand people successfully took places in the last part. My luck seems very poor.

Fortunately Vel'Lisk is supposed to be something of an expert at battle so I'm sure he can regain the upper hand.

Well, see it in another light. They killed 450 Lorenvolk, but lost 2720 against them. That looks about right to me on paper.

Your militia let you down, but it serves as a lesson. Marching them against professionals has draw backs, their numbers are their true strength.

If you want a bonus tip: The Lorenvolk are supreme warriors, and whilst it might be tempting to split them, perhaps marshalling them into one main battlegroup would serve you well early on. At the moment, as with the Isarimer, human numerical superiority is taking a chunk out of the race bonuses. The more men you field, the less advantage the humans have.

i.e 10,000 Lorenvolk vs 10,000 humans would be a giblet fest.

Meanwhile the militia could either dog pile the army, to act as a shield in battle, or be kept back to make sure your provinces are behaving themselves.

Also, feel free to PM me before you go invading places, and I'll tell you their force strength. Minor nations pick a random number between two set points (I sometimes will lower it if the country is tiny).

Mmmm, though i'm unsurprised Portugal was more heavily defended than Lithuania.

Ah NewSun, both armies fled. Haha. However, the Germany army in Czechland has withdrawn to Prague, and will last 3 seasons before they surrender. They lost 40% of their army in the process, leaving them with:

Meanwhile, in Kaliningrad Oblast, they lost 50% on their retreat:

You'll have to wait until next season to crush the garrisons, I'm afraid.

Beasty >:)

I'm gonna still take LesaLikl and his Hellwalkers straight through to Germany and ignore the army that retreated to Prague. I'll come back for them. Kaliningrad should be an easy win from here.

All looks good!

Jolly good. Be warned though, if you do not win at Hamburg, it's possible that force in Prague might do something drastic. Like. I don't know, move to Spain and fight the Lorenvolk? Things seem easier over there :D

Haha, joke Raptor, you hang in there.

Holy, can you imagine if I lost at Hamburg with two armies, one of which is huge? That would be embarrassing. Still, once Hamburg is taken both armies can double back on prague and claim 2 territories in one season. FOR THE SWARM.

Not sure if it's possible, I've left Germany horribly undefended. It has a militia force, which you have not seen yet, and by next season the Emperor's army would have been replenished. We'll see when we get there, but what you'll find in Germany will be about 1/3 of the Holy Roman Empire's entire army.

Meanwhile Egypt and Byzantium are just sitting there, like "Yup, gonna build our army up bitches" just like they always do in the total war games. Poor Christendom.

Hmmm... Well, I have a blood vendetta against Otto anyway. I figure once he dies, morale of the Empire falters. Both armies go back and take the Czech lands and launch a multi-pronged offensive against Germany.

But if it just dies then a large part of the game, the competition with the NPCs and such ceases.

It'll only be the Emperor dying, i'd imagine he has successors. Taking Germany would not mean the end of the Holy Roman Empire.
