Uhhhh......

Sure.... Make a CS, ill see how it is while thinking of a way that your chara could join and not have been involved in everything up until this point (coma, you being out of the country, or other such convenient things are coming to mind. XD)

Can I create a martial art even though it would be based on mixing together two real life styles?

Uhhh.....

Just put it in your CS or PM it to me and we'll see. Your characters are supposed to be mostly average people though...

Unless!

Unless you don't want to be a Gamer and just be an Ability User. That would be interesting and allow me to not have to use some bullshit excuse to get your chara into the plot (why didn't I think about it before).

Where would I find the info for an Ability User? (still reading through the rules and ways of play)

It is not in there (I just thought about it. This RP was originally only intended for players to be Gamers)

Tell me what kind of ability you would want (PM or here, up to you) and ill see what I can do.

Of course, an Ability User doesn't get all of the cool stuff a Gamer can do, but you do start off stronger and stuff and get some cool stuff of your own (it'll be up to you on what you want to do)

Well, here is my idea:

My character grew up in a rural part of the country with her father. Her father is a traveling monk whom is seeking divine forgiveness on his own behalf. His pride caused the death of her mother, for he saw himself as a divine healer of sorts and refused to seek professional medical help for the woman whom had pneumonia. As further self-inflicted punishment of sorts, he took his young daughter and has taken it upon himself to teach her not to make the same prideful mistake he did. He taught her in the way grew up as a warrior monk that specialized in a strange, exotic mix of Capoeria and Tae Kwon Do.

As such, she grew up rather humble and learned to ponder her words, but perceptive. She and her father stayed out in the wilderness as well as in Inns so that she gained an appreciation for nature and life in general. She is headstrong however, and clutches tightly to the three pillars of her martial art: Never use weapon longer than your forearm. Never let your pride override your judgment. There are no rules in combat.

The martial art, dubbed Han Eria, is reactionary. It borrows the traditional Capoeria idea that one's body must always be in motion, and that an attack should never be seen coming. The Tae Kwon Do aspect adds in a power that isn't commonly found in Capoeria: power in the latter is created with outside momentum (swinging the body). With this style, the user is able to turn a simple looking kick into a bone breaking battering ram. This is a highly lethal style, but also incredibly dangerous for the user. On their own, Capoeria can cripple or even kill its practitioners with wrong landings or misjudgments in momentum swing. Tae Kwon Do can also injure or cripple the user when used with uncontrolled power or wrong techniques. Together, this is a recipe for disaster, so training must start at an early age to adapt the body and mold the mind into an always aware/always analyzing point. The rigorous mental and physical demands (high DEX, high INT needed, with DEX replacing STR stat for damage calculations if that is ok), are also needed for the right amount of weight of responsibility.

Also, using a sword of any type will disqualify a user from using this martial art until it is removed from the user's inventory. Seeing as dodging and avoiding attacks are paramount to slugging it out with an enemy, VIT is limited to 15 MAX points. STR stat is useful in adding health as well as counts for damage, but not to the same extent as VIT (4 STR= 1 VIT worth of Health) and DEX ( 2 STR=1 DEX worth of damage). Due to the trade off of health vs extra damage, this martial art can easily become a double edged sword should the user bite off more than they can chew. They have the skills to take on multiple opponents (Capoeria was created for avoidance and attack/feints from many, many angles, all from the same base stance), but a healthy dose of LUK seems to be required, regardless if facing one opponent or four. But it is best not to leave them alone for very long.

For weapons, users can usually hide a few throwing knives or small bolas for that extra ranger. Smoke bombs, pepper bombs and various powders are often used as well. Metal thread has been seen, but is not as widely used. One user (my character) usually bandages her hands and hides a pair of specially made leather open fingered gloves fitted with flexible, heavy duty metal wiring along the palms, back of the hand and knuckle ridges. The gloves are rather heavy, and she has shin/foot coverings done in the same manner.

Thoughts?

East Coast USA?)
you can give it a better read when you're lucid. :3

She can provide assistance to Sasha and Ren, then explain that she was on pilgrimage in the area and felt honor bound to offer her assistance.

Or, she'd recently been released from the hospital due to a bad injury she suffered while fighting a rival? She was then told to go to that area and provide due assistance by Mr. ??? Level?

Or she can already be on the train?

She'll be 19 or 20 years old. I have yet to decide.

Its not that I am tired, I am just too lazy to read it right now XD

I could read it perfectly right now if I wanted to, but it is lazy lazy time. (Sorry if I sound like a jerk, but I don't read long stuff when I am lazy) :3

Second one probably sounds better... maybe she knows the Ban Family? Or perhaps even could be related (like a distant cousin) I am throwing ideas out of me arse by this point. Wasn't counting on anyone showing interest due to how far along things are XD

Haha, that's fine with me.

She can be a cousin to the Ban family. Having her father being a part of that family, or even carrying the Ban name could validate why he felt like he HAD to seek forgiveness to appease his family?

It just seems kind of weird to have a non-gamer PC among the cast... gonna take me a while to figure stuff out now (as with a non-gamer pc, there will be some plot stuff your chara misses out on... its just confusing XD)

Well...what if she is a Gamer too. But, just one that has been at it for a long while. But due to her hospital stay and constant moving, has not managed to level up? In response, Mr. ??? Level allowed the things she learned in her normal life to dictate her character due to her unfortunate "awakening" timing? As such, she is limited (as far as allocating to certain skills) since she doesn't know them. But what she does know, she is proficient in? (Explains just how she is at a high level even though her skill set and stats are so narrowed and focused? Maybe this could even cause some tension in the group she joins, since it IS suspicious that she has the levels but not the experience?)

Honestly I have thought of applying for a second character that is a non-gamer. You could use the same system as the test, except stat and talents are kept strictly ooc and assumed to be the character's natural learning of different abilities. However, natural abilities users won't get random weird skills and cannot learn things through skill books, obviously.

But then, won't we get into problems layer? If we RP as an NPC, certain interactions would be virtually impossible wouldn't it? We could have humans unaware they are in a game, but then it stands to reason that they wouldnt be able to see dangers and whatnot, no?

We could have them be like, a class of Gamer? For example, a Casual Gamer is like a jack of all trades sort of character. Their limited experience with video games has not limited them to certain possibilities. This class is ruled by creativity, but at the cost of being generally weak.

Then you have other classes of Gamers based around the culture of video gaming. Ability Users can be classed as Hardcore Gamers. These Gamers usually specialize in one or two things, and devote their entire existence to buffing these few things. It is extremely difficult to change that, and would require a lot of time to upgrade a skill or stat that doesn't influence their character much. Hardcore Gamers are limited in the scope of possibility, seeing that they believe certain games are beneath their notice. A stronger category of Gamer than the Casual Gamer, but is very weak outside of their build (I.e A Hardcore Gamer Archer would not carry a two-handed sword, not even in the inventory unless to sell. Or an Two-Handed sword wielder would not use magic.

I kinda have a second character that one being Tomoyo. I might want her to get involved with the plot more in the future, if that's okay with Renose. Mainly because she gets in all this shit of Gaia because of Silas going too deep into the Abyss and that she discovers things etc.

That sounds good bio.

as for that gamer class idea, no. I am not going the virtual reality route, it takes away the whole point of the gamer power in making them like video game characters in reality
