I got back into AvP again, and the Aliens universe and I got to thinking of making an RP on that. I was in one awhile back that was rather large. Alot of people left and got bored of it. So the forum it was on died. The original creator has too many things going on in their life to resurrect it.

But I'm inexperienced with running role-plays. I haven't been in many AVP RP's. The ones I went into after that first one didn't last long.

The first one I was in was called The New Hive. It mostly focused on a xenomorph hive that was on the same planet the AVP game in 2010 was on. It was after the events of the game. The remains of the old research facility were there and everything. A new human facility was built. The RP was character based and revolved around the xenomorphs fighting off human attacks and predators alike. It culminated in a massive predator attack at the end. After that final battle the RP died due to alot of people leaving. We could do an RP like this or something new. I'm not sure yet.

Players will be able to be humans, predators, or xenomorphs.

There's two settings.

Modern: Like the AVP movies. Self-explanatory.
Future: With the Colonial Marines, FTL, and human colonies outside the Sol system. I'd recommend this.

We also have a few options for the focus of the RP.

Combat heavy (Focusing mostly on the battles.)
Character-driven (Character-driven RPs tend to be the most interesting and longest lasting.)

It's my understanding that Hard Meat (xenomorphs) are essentially drones, under the control/influence of the queen through pheremones and possibly mental control. There are strong warrior drones that seem to have a hierarchy or chain of command, but in general, no personality. Wouldn't that make playing a xenomorph kind of moot?

That's the beauty of RP, people can do what they want. Even if its the dumbest thing on the planet, as long as they are having fun than why stop them? Plus I was going to play as a Yautja anyway.

Never said that it was against anything, I'm just asking in case I missed something in the EU (exanded universe) out there.

I too had intended on playing a Hish/Yautja.

It would be neat if all Xenomorph players were able to control an entire Hive. They would start as a Facehugger, find a suitable host, implant a Queen, burst, find a suitable nest, begin laying eggs, hatch more facehuggers, find more hosts, and slowly build up their swarm repeating this process. They would control and manage each individual Xenomorph.

Predators on the other hand could be part of the same clan, here to do whatever they need to do (hunt, clean-up, what have you). Or to make things interesting, they're from separate clans - here to hunt each other, or to compete against one another.

In PvP the Predators would attempt to control battles against the Xenomorphs. Xenomorphs would need to rely on stealth and surprise to overcome the Predators. In all cases, the Predators would probably have the upperhand due to their tech, but the Xeno characters have the advantage of multiple 'lives' - if one of their Xeno's die they still have their queen and the other drones.

I've always seen AVP as being one of those "quantity VS quality" scenarios, where Predators value quality and the Xenos value quantity. Also, not all Xeno's are drones and queens. I think Grid from the first AVP movie was some sort of advanced Xeno. Not sure what they're called, but the Queen gives them a bit more freedom so they're smarter; as an example, Grid was able to use cover to defend himself against Scar's plasma-caster, whereas the other Aliens couldn't process such an action and didn't take cover and were effectively killed.

If this was a future AVP roleplay, I wonder if a Bounty Hunter Hish would work. He doesn't care much for his clan nor his species, he works for whoever he needs to work for to acquire a massive amount of credits.

Grid also seemed to have leadership capability, coordinating a small team or pack.

6 or was it 9 from the Aliens Vs Predator game from 2010 seemed to have greater capabilities as well, above his kin.
