After reading the last few posts, I feel like I should wait to create a race. BUT, I AM GOING TO RESERVE MYSELF THE AWESOMENESS THAT IS THE DRACONIANI feel a bit terrible that its a "humanoid version of _______!" race, but whatever.

Yeah, that clashes with the new rules I'm laying down, i.e. no "humanoid version of _________", with the exception being if it's a fantasy staple, so stuff like Minotaurs are allowed. Admittedly, this is kinda ruling out Gnolls which are a personal fave of mine, but if I'm being fair I can't just say that I get my part-animal species and nobody else does.

So yeah, I get no gnolls because nobody gets humanoid-version-of-animal races (unless it's a fantasy staple). I'm gonna go update the opening post with this.

Well Draconians aren't a fantasy staple (but they exist here and there as different things), but if I give you a well written description of them, that makes them a bit different than a humanoid dragon with a dragon-like nature, would you maybe accept it?

If so, I will write up something nice tomorrow.

Humanoid version of dragons, so breaks that rule- also, I've never seen a version of dragon-men that I've actually approved of. You want to play a race that has ties to dragons? Play a kobold, because kobold are weak as hell and super awesome.
Lizardfolk are fine because again, fantasy staple, but I don't want dragon people.

Okay, I will give this a try, I hope my race follows the rules. If it doesn't please tell me so I can change things around.

Race name: Sirens
History: Centuries ago, these creatures roamed the seas and dark forests, luring men to their untimely deaths. They lived far from civilization, only showing their beautiful faces to those they are about to kill. Now however, they seem to have all but disappeared, with only a handful left.
Strengths: Their singing voice is hard to resist, and so is their physical beauty. While not very skilled in combat, these women are well educated, and value arts above all others.
Description:
While the feathers are more colorful, they do have normal arms as well, and their faces are completely humanoid, this picture should give an idea:
These creatures were said to be incredibly vain, with their places in the hiearchy being solely determined by their physical beauty, and the beauty of their singing voice. With their beautiful wings, they were sometimes mistaken to be angels, despite the colorful nature of their feathers. Under the light of the full moon their appearance changed drastically, their skins starting to rot, filled with crawling maggots. Their beautiful feathers would fall out too, leaving their wings bare and ominous. Strangely enough, those Sirens that looked the most beautiful normally are affected the worst by this apparent curse.
Sirens are a completely female race, in general hating men to an almost unbelievable extend. A siren that fell in love with a man would be forever expelled from the sea, and might even be killed by their tribe.
Children: It is very rare for a child to be born in a Siren community, but it does happen. While Sirens are perfectly capable of giving birth to a child of a man, following normal procedures and resulting in a beautiful human child, their prefered method of conceiving is laying an egg out of which a child will come. This child has no father, and is a 100% genetic copy of her mother.

If more races will be decided on and one crosses their territory, I would love to have the races have some kind of history.

Okay, I am giving up on my previous idea and saving that for a later date, after I have fixed the flaws that it has.

As for this roleplay I have decided to go with a half-orc since they have captured my interest quite a lot as of late. I'll be working on a race description and post it here soon.

They already exist in the D&D universe, you may as well copy and paste it or just link us to the wiki page. Would save you some time.

But if I did that I couldn't make them super long lived masculine beasts with radioactive blood, laser vision, and frost breath...

Okay fine, I'll be boring and sensible.

Though not a race I'd personally play, Half Orcs are totally fine (as long as they aren't super long lived masculine beasts with radioactive blood, laser vision and frost breath ;P )

Looks okay, but you DO realize that the fact that they are effectively a race of clones (if they're 100% genetic copies of their mothers and they come from a common ancestor, they would all have the same genes) would mean that they would be physically identical and SUPER vulnerable to any sickness or disease that could infect them?

I'm still trying to decide on a race to play myself, strongly considering a female Centaur who specializes in frontline combat.

I don't have a race to submit but I think it's a decent character idea. Mind if I speak of it.

How's the progress coming on the actual RP itself, races aside?

I think I'll start working out the lore of the city state my human comes from, unless you intend to cover all that yourself? I was thinking of something like Minas Tirith - you know, a walled up city with withering power that clings to old dreams of conquest. It wouldn't have much impact on the RP I guess, but it would give something for my guy to talk about if anyone ever asks him.

Don't we need Orcs before we can have half orcs?

...I would suggest that if saving time rather than making something unique and interesting is the motivation, that one simply not submit anything. That way zero time is spent. It doesn't get any better than that.

Ouch, but nope, you're absolutely right. I apologise for stifling creativity. So what Orcs are we going for? The brutish humanoid ones? Or the gangling hunchbacks in the LOTR? I feel that needs to be established first.

Hm yeah I had given the clone thing some thought, but not enough to realize how vulnerable this would make them to disease. But, in a way this makes sense, seeing as they are starting to get extinct. I would say they used to mingle with others a long time ago, resulting in many different lines. Over time however they started getting new traditions that discouraged such behavior, which slowly but surely became their undoing.
Would that make sense?

Say Primal, do you think that the old "Pathfinder" version of "Sharphorn" will be suitable for this game,
or would you like me to update it accordingly?

Well, considering that I'm not going to be using stat blocks, I'm not sure how useful that sheet is gonna be. Beyond that, as there's no big empire in recent times in this, his backstory would need work...

Probably easiest for you to make a new character as opposed to adapting an old one. You're free to use a minotaur, but I think it'll be less work making a new one instead of trying to adapt one written for a different setting.
