The year is 2142, and a decade long civil war has ended, but temporary order follows chaos… Crime groups have combined to form a Syndicate, who has declared open war with the police, who are unable to do much as they are outgunned and underfunded severely in the aftermath of the civil war. A group of citizens, unimpressed with the police’s progress, create their own group to combat Syndicate, named Vigilante, but they aren't exactly saints either, having been linked to several other criminal activities, especially money laundering, presumably to fund their war. Normal life has come to a standstill, with people going to work with armed escorts, and schools basing grades on attendance rather than merit in an attempt to keep young people off of the streets. People are gunned down daily because of suspected "ties" to one group or another.
A popular synthetic drug named MX10 is one of the main reasons the drug war has escalated- MX10 produces recurring flashbacks of enjoyable moments of the user’s life, slowing down their perception of time, and brief loss of short-term memory. It’s expensive, but people are willing to pay the money for it. It’s also highly illegal, which is why both Vigilante and the police are specifically targeting shipments of this drug.
You work at one of the various labor camps located throughout the country, intended to revitalize the stagnant economy. However, on your off times, you may be part of Syndicate, attempting to gain wealth and power, or part of Vigilante, off on your own sense of justice. Perhaps you're an addict, using the meager money you gain for another fix of MX10. But then again, you could be another law abiding citizen, just trying to make it through these tough times... the choice is yours.
