Light slivers of the moonlight broke through the uneven vast stretch of foliage and trees, the rays licking at the dry forest floor. In the middle of a canopy of vines and oaks, a pair lay, nestled into the center of a flattened bush. The female, laying half on her side, turned to nose at the three bundles of auburn and ebony huddled together.
"We can't stay here long, love." The male at her side spoke, his head picked up from the bundles of fur, his glowing gaze fixed on the surrounding forest.
"They can't be moved, Lucifer, not yet." She spoke her pleading gaze fixing on him, the worry seem to radiate off her body. One of her pups cried out, it's vibrant mouth a gape toward her mother.
"Pandora, love, they're coming." Lucifer spoke in a hushed tone, dropping his head to calm his spawn. The moonlight soon turned chilled when the vicious, thunderous snarl ripped through the almost peaceful atmosphere. Dropping her head in a quick motion, she managed the three tiny balls of fur into her jaws, lifting them from the earth as her glowing red and green optics turn to her beloved who was already guarding her back. "Run."
Suddenly, the entire area grew dark, the atmosphere growing deathly silent. Lucifer's stomach dropped and his heart started to beat uncontrollably. Pandora found herself unable to move, the three bundles of fur wriggling in protest in her maw. They both stared at the darkness where the moon shone, realizing it wasn't a cloud that blocked their view of the orb in the sky. And before they could realize what it was, an ear-shattering roar followed by flames was emitted from the shape, turning the wolves to ashes as the fire slowly spread amongst the trees.
The wolves' fate: Fafnir.
