Bright.

The sun was bright. It set a glow to the land through cones of sanctioned light. It brought a shine to metals and a warmth to woods, it gave life to the town, the town of Kalli.

It was relatively early in the morning, most people were out and about already, fishers fishing. Wood cutters cutting.

Although soon enough a specific group of people would also be about their business.

A business known to be dangerous, full of short careers, would be heroes, and failed prodigies.

"Hold the line!"

The guard captain bellowed the command and plea from the back of the squadron. His dainty blade raised to the air. His little group of followers stood huddled, shields and blades raised for the oncoming attack. The snarling mess charged the group, knocking most down with it's weight. A big lean hunched beast that was thick in fur and not lacking in teeth. A full set of razor sharp pearls gaped and threatened to devour the poor boy whole. It had been his first day on post, and he had already seen monsters. Just as his lights were to forever fade, a solid spike had been made in the heathens side, causing it's sharp whine to cry out before it lept back, hunched over to attack again.

"On your feet, come on!." The somewhat portly captain raised the pale young man to his feet. "Come on, this is a small one we can do this!" His somewhat sad rally was met with a small huzzah of several men, surrounding the beast they took to their jobs.

A man in black walked down the stony path. his clothes were nearly all black, and his hair was nearly all white. A cigar sat in the corner of his mouth, a dry gaze starring down to the ground. Xavier V. Lifesaver walked casually back to his town. Each hand in their respective side pocket, he walked with an even and calm pace. He didn't usually go on missions, and usually not alone, but this wasn't any usual mission.

"...How'd it get so close to town?" He stopped behind the celebrating guards who had just finished catching their game. The wide captain huffed without turning his back. "Look, you just go one home to your candle making hut, and leave us alo-" His red face became stark white as he turned to see the owner of the dark voice. Xavier tapped his smoke to loosen it's ashes, and placed it back in his mouth. An action that would normally not intimidate.

Normally.

"Don't you have posts up, to keep these beasts a good ways out from the town?" The rhetorical question was given little time to be answered, and the captain was giving no indication of doing anything fast.

"Now...wouldn't that mean, you either didn't have enough men, you weren't doing your job correctly. Or..." An audible gulp could be heard from the round leader.

"You brought this thing here on purpose, just for some amusement."

The captain had backed a few steps away now, and when he was behind his allies, his pride swelled back just as his body did. "There ain't anything wrong with hunting monsters, it's our job! Yours too if you don't remember!" He huffed this and fixed his slipping shield. He seemed even more full of pride now then before.

"...A dire coyote..." Xavier said low as he eyed their prey. "Fast...relatively strong..." The guards seemed to light up a bit at the praise.

"A large one too...you can tell by these spots here..." He pointed at it's side, coming close now to it. "It's pretty old that means...looks to be a female..."

The new postman seemed to be draining of color again.

"Her family won't be getting any food it seems..."

The captain's ego had diminished to the size of a pea. His fear had replaced it.

"Would you like to find out?" The older man cracked his knuckles, causing the accused man to literally shake in his boots. "What it feels like, for your family to loss all sources of survival?" The man was shaking, looking to each face in his charge for help. He got a few sour stares in response.

"I'll tell you when my next candles are done. Captain..." A mock salute and the guild head was off.

He had news to tell. His "family" would need to know.

Danger was lurking.

Lurking close.
The building was full of life. The commons area full of teams and lone hunters all sitting and chatting. A few had gotten their mugs filled early from the mess hall, and were currently making a little mess of themselves. Xavier stifled the room. His presence clearing the air of any sound. He walked as normally as he had the entire time getting there. Some odd sense of wonder and curiosity usually followed him as he entered, mostly because he barely ever left. His footsteps continued to bring a hush even as they made their way to the metal lift. A square with a waist high railing situated in a long empty tower of space. A push of a button and the magic surge gave life to it. he rode to the third floor and walked calmly to a place he rarely went.

The S rankers lounge. A place furnished with wonderful black and red furniture, it held a decently sized sitting area, a designated smoking section, a bar to one side, serving drink and meal, and a television sat mounted on one wall, over a fireplace and in between the heads of great beast who had been hunted years prior. The room was never terribly loud, but even there the silence was noticeable.

"...Downstairs."

With that, he turned and left, not moving fast and yet still not leaving time to be questioned.

He had just rallied a guild meeting. This had happened few times before.
[If you are not yet a member of the guild, you may still be in the building to sign up or simply ask about doing so, if so you will be accepted into themeetin hall as well. It is a town announcement just as it is a corporate one]

With a silent smirk, Grave observed the scene from behind the thick foliage of the surrounding forest, his incredibly large and bulky plasma needle rifle brought up into an aiming position without any shakes or twitch - a testament to the man's immense strength. He narrowed his right eye through the scope, and once again, Grave couldn't stop a small, deep, and disembodied snicker from escaping his helmet's speakers. It was a Class A monster...a Hell Hound, around the size of a monster truck, simply lying there...drinking water from a nearby spill of magma. That wasn't the funny part, however. The funny part was the fact that, on it's back, there seemed to be a significantly lesser threat; an Orc bandit. The Orc bandit...tamed a Class A monster. It almost made him want to laugh again.

The Orc didn't have anything on him, other than some crude leather armor and a large, cracking stone greatsword. The Hell Hound was the trouble, however. It's fur was midnight black, and it had crimson red flames on the tips of it's large, spiky tail. Razor sharp teeth the size of Grave himself, and claws the size of cars. It was quite the intimidating sight to behold...for cowards...and Grave wasn't a coward. He had a mission. A Class A mission. Take out the Hell Hound, and bring it's head back as a testament to it's death. The stupid beast was terrorizing a nearby village, and so it had to be put down. Grave didn't mind. As long as the combat was exciting....

*SHKIIT*

The silent hiss of his sniper rifle warmed Grave's heart, as he watched the glowing blue needle pierce the Orc's silly leather helmet, passing completely through the man's brain, and promptly dissipating thereafter. The Orc's body slowly, as in slow-motion, fell off of the Hell Hound's back, and as the beast roared and glared around, Grave threw his sniper rifle onto his back, silently grabbing his two plasma blade hilts...and squeezing them. With a hiss, similar to his rifle's shooting, the glowing blue energy blades unsheathed.

"...Let's rock."

The man's echoing voice startled the Hell Hound, and it turned towards the direction of the sound, just as Grave leaped ten stories into the air and came down on the beast with the force of a fighter jet. His armored foot blasted against it's head, cracking the skull and forcing the beast's face to form a crater into the soil of the forest. A blast of fire escaped the wound on it's head, and with laughable ease, Grave flipped off of it's body, landing on the ground and allowing the Hell Hound to slowly stand up.

"...."

"...ROAR..."

Without a word, Grave blurred forward, clearing the distance between the two instantly, the man's left blade lashed upwards, carving a large, steaming bloody gash into the Hell Hound's maw. It attempted to swipe at him with it's right paw, and Grave's next blade blurred left and right three times, separating the Hound's paw into three separate ribbons of sliced flesh. The Hell Hound roared in pain, bucking backwards, and Grave lunged towards it's neck. One final swipe of both of his blades...and the head was separated from it's body.
Grave zoomed into the city of his Void Digger, the sound barrier breaking behind him as he seemingly blasted into the village with blue fire escaping the exhaust pipe. Leaping off of the vehicle, Grave flipped through the air, bounding off of a nearby shopping cart and clenching his hand mid-air. The Void Digger was absorbed into his fist, and the man landed softly on the ground. Without glancing at the awed citizens around him, he promptly disappeared into the Agency, heading right for the S Lounge...
"...Downstairs."

"I've been here for 5 minu-" His quiet, disembodied voice was cut off as Xavier left. With a soundless sigh, he stood up from where he had been throwing orbs of blue energy into the air. The Hell Hound's decapitated head was still sitting beside him. "I should probably turn that in while I'm up..." Grave murmured, grabbing the massive head by the ears, and heading towards the door.
