Largely supernatural beings, Feardom is the most powerful state a human can hope to achieve, often more powerful than half-Angels or half-Demons. The Fear is a largely supernatural being, and Black Eden is trying to (very unsuccessfully) understand them in a scientific manner. The few facts that are known for sure are listed below.
Fears are capable of the consumption of souls, and evidence suggests they require souls to function
Fears are created, not born. A human or Half-Fear must kill a Fear.
Phobiums (the end result of a Fear mating) can be slain to transform oneself into a Fear
Fears are immune to cancers, viral agents (not including the virulent ) and most illnesses.
Fears can various powers, each one different from every other, based on what the Fear is a representation of. For example, the now late Mother of Snakes could travel through mirrors, control snakes, and speak to reptiles. Her killer, The Insatiable, can control metal, form money out of thin air (summoning magic), and control the minds of all but the strongest willed people, making their minds drift towards fame, money, and a "ends justify the means" mentality.
The power of Fears was once thought to derive from how many beings fear them or what they represent, but this is not the case. While it does help increase the following of said Fear (cults and such), and thus make people more willing to serve said Fear, the true power of Fears comes from their prowess in combat, which Fears often try to prove through combat "games" held at Phobic Games (see "Fear Society").
It is thought that over 2500 Fears exist, with 43 known Fears, and most Fears have a servant cult of some form.
Fear Society
Please note that "Society" is a loose term in the context of Fears, simply used to denote a group of rituals or practices Fears as a whole undertake, along with some carefully followed laws that Fears demand be kept, in order to "preserve the fun." Fears, for example, may "baptize" a newborn Phobium in blood, to welcome them to the race. This is, of course, a bastardization of the Christian ritual of Baptizing. Along with that, Phobiums are generally considered fair-game to be killed at any age.
Fears often do not band together, due to the betrayal of the The Pharisee, who planted seeds of mistrust that continue to thrive to this day.
The strongest Fear is declared the King or Queen, and their mate, if they obtain one, is declared the opposite (Erebus is the King, Kiba declared queen).
The biggest rule in Fears is that humans are food in almost all cases, with the rarest of exceptions being servants, or those who are going to become Half-Fears. Mating with a human is highly taboo.
The Screecher: The Screecher is a supernatural and horrific entity that resides within the outskirts of Wakeland Forest. The Screecher is known to be as the Fear of Staring and possesses every right to earn that status and its title. The Screecher is known for its terrifyingly disturbing and ear-splitting demonic shriek, it produces this screech for when an individual gazes at it, even for a brief moment, in order to incapacitate its victim by rupturing their ear drums. The Screecher possesses a hallucinative and penetrating gaze which is nearly impossible to turn away from.
Once a victim stares at the Screecher for the first time, the victim begins to experience extreme paranoia, hallucinations, anxiety disorder, and a sickness reminiscent to the flu. Once these symptoms occur frequently and grow stronger it causes the Screecher to seize the opportunity to hunt down its victim before causing even more psychological suffering.
It is unknown how long the Screecher has been treading upon the Earth, but it is possible that it has been around during the Cretaceous Period, or further. The Screecher seems to have not ever left its domain and quite possibly not being as hostile as it is currently, but due to the construction upon the area now known as Wakeland Forest, where campers arrive in order to celebrate or entertain themselves, it caused it to grow more enraged at the defiling of its territory.
The Screecher's current whereabouts are unknown for the time being but it is highly possible that it remains to reside within the deepest regions of Wakeland Forest slumbering and awaiting for anyone foolish enough to enter its domain and be consumed within the process.
The Screecher possesses superhuman strength, enough to rip apart a fully grown adult male human to mere ribbons within seconds, telepathy, hallucination powers, camouflage, immense speed, superhuman hearing and sight, and a sonic shriek. The Screecher is also carnivorous as it prefers to consume any creature within its sights, such as humans, animals, and even other Fears for it is impeccably territorial.
The Pitted One: The Pitted One is the Fear of small holes and of repetitive patterns. It is an ancient Fear, being around since humanity first opened it's eyes to the world around it.
The Pitted One is a single entity, while it's servants the Pitted, a hive mind consisting of thousands of individual beings, each one with the same abilities and same collective knowledge.
The Pitted One is known for his rather cruel way of killing or breaking victims and enemies. What it does is exploit the fear of small holes many beings have, known as Trypophobia, by causing hallucinations and/or wounding the victim with small, bloodless holes which cause extreme pain.
The corpses left behind by The Pitted One often are covered from head to toe with small, bloodless holes which seem to have been caused without an explanation to anyone who sees the body. Due to the unnatural methods of killing, Black Eden makes it high-priority to cover up and murders by The Pitted One.
Kasai: Kasai is the Fear of Fire. She typically wears a red kimono with a golden fire design, and a golden headdress. She tends to have a folding fan with her. As the Fear of fire, her powers consist of Pyrokinesis, Thermokinesis, Typhokinesis, Geo Thermokinesis, and Heliokinesis. Her personality is usually warm and calm, though sometimes energetic, but she is easy to anger. When angry, there is little that can calm her. Her servants are known as Lanterns.
Her realm is called The Eternal Festival, a massive plaza with burning towers and basins of fire and flame creatures such as fire wolfs, and dragons. The realm has been compared to an endless Japanese fire festival.
Sheeree Carmine: Sheree Carmine (The Apparition) is the Fear of Hauntings, Ghosts, and the Undead.
Her Ghost Form is a translucent, white-blue version of her Human Form, that gives off wisps of smoke the same color. In this form she cannot harm nor be harmed. Any attempts to interact with the object or being in this form will result in her passing through it (unless said being is the Quiet, Death or God).
Her servants are beings known as Tortured Souls.
Her realm is a vast wasteland of dead trees, ruined houses and plains of dead grass, with a thick fog (although she can change the density of the fog). Tortured Souls wander around her realm, awaiting orders. There is one house, her residence, which is not ruined or otherwise destroyed. This house is a normal, happy looking house, which has a garden and looks very out of place.
She has a different way of consuming Souls than most Fears. As a target grows more and more afraid because of her, she will siphon the soul, causing immense pain and fear within the target. The target will then drop dead after their soul has been siphoned from their body. She is still able to consume souls in the normal way, by tearing the chest open and consuming the soul directly. She needs to feed every three months, or her Fear hunger will begin to override her personality. Like all Fears, she can control this (for the most part) but will sometimes snap if a soul that would extinguish their hunger is nearby.
The Brute: he Brute is the Fear of War, Invasion and Mob Mentality. It was, up until recently, considered dormant, inactive. However, due to the rising turmoil of the Second Great War, The Brute has reawakened. It manifests in our plane of existence as a massive pillar or veil of smoke, sometimes as a humanoid figure in chains with an anvil chained to his back.
The Brute is the cause of riots and wars around the world over resources (although The Insatiable is slowly taking that spot), religion (caused also in part by The Arch Angel), and other things. Most warlords that exist have had some form of his influence overtake them, and some of them are thought to have been his children.
The Brute loves to fight, however, it tends to observe wars rather than directly participate. Often, a fight he is witnessing will be over quickly, but have many causalities, on both sides.
The symbol most often connected with The Brute is The Heretic's Fork, a torture device that would prevent the victim from sleeping when used. It is revealed that the Brute and The Ire are fierce and hateful rivals, since being both Fears of Rage and both will fight their opponents endlessly until they achieve victory.
The Brute and the Ire had once battled for 500 years to a standstill with no apparent winner although the Ire supposedly was the victor in the end.
The Melody: The Melody is the Fear of Music and a music that one hates very dearly. While not a Fear to be taken seriously, it is very unwise to underestimate it and considered to be a very dangerous Fear.
The Melody has no real form, instead only appearing as a skull with headphones attached to it as beating volumes rise from behind it almost as if music is playing. Its true form however is actually comprised of pure musical energy and sound, appearing as though it were a humanoid being with a rainbow-like coloration and awful ear piercing music.
The Melody can use its music in various types of ways, once being able to release a tune capable of causing everyone to pass out, another is to deafen their ears, and one other is to kill them. It is also capable of producing a powerful sonic shriek that can do all three methods depending on how acute the tune of the shriek is.
Whenever it appears, music is heard in a distance but the location and origin of the music is unknown. The Melody can cause any sound within the vicinity to the highest of volumes, ranging from even a leaf falling on the ground, to also raising the voice of another person destroying their voice box in the process.
Its servants are known as Harmonies who are completely devoted to music and become one with it in the process, who also have that ability to produce sonic shrieks though not as strong as their masters. Its domain is known as the House of Notes, where inside is comprised entirely of musical energy, sounds, and servants doing what they do when going out to a party. If an intruder enters its domain uninvited, they will be subject to hypnotic music of different genres, mostly electronic and techno, slowly driven into a sort of trance and either killed or turned into a Harmony.
The Virulent: The Virulent is the Fear of Poison and Infection, and the smallest but deadliest Fear to date in recorded history. Despite being a supernatural infectious organism, it is quite intelligent being able to easily identify, adapt, and evolve, learning about the immune system of the individual it has entered.
Once it enters, the person begins to have a normal common cold but in time begins to exihibt nausia, nose bleeds, violent coughing fits, vommiting, pale skin, blood shot eyes, and constant black outs. When these symptoms pass, the control of the person takes its effect as the infected now becomes the puppet of the Virulent.
Its purpose is unknown for the time being, but it is largely assumed that it desires to infect all life on Earth for it to become an infectious, viral "paradise". The Virulent is dubbed as the "Lord of Poison" since it can command any known, or even unknown, type of disease and use it however it sees fit. Many Fears fall victim to it, but some Fears who are incredibly powerful like the Convocation and the Slender Man do not die not show any of the symptoms from the Virulent, and instead have normal harmless cold.
The Virulent has no domain, rather, the air from the human body or any body is its domain. Its servants are the humans themselves who become infected by it and are called Toxicants. There is no known cure once the Virulent enters and infects a body as normal human cures simply bother it, however, it has shown an extreme dislike for intense heat and electrical shocks, but this will only drive it out of the body and not destroy it. It's possible that it can be destroyed if increasing the amount of electricity or heat.
The Guild Master:The Guild Master is the Fear of Thieves and being robbed. His appearance is that of a very well dressed and well armed medieval era thief. Nothing is known of his life before becoming a Fear, nor does anyone know what his face actually looks like. He possesses unparalleled skills of stealth and archery. His servants are known as Thieves. He has a Fear Herald, who is known as Cam'wethrin Heru.
His domain is called the Shrouded Guild, a sprawling fortress where his Thieves can hone their abilities, as well as where they house their vast amount of ill-gotten wealth.
The Pendulum: The Pendulum is the Fear of Time and quite surprisingly, a benevolent Fear. This Fear means no harm whatsoever and only observes the threads of time and the Chrono river, but will attack if threatened. It is as old as time itself.
The Pendulum has no true form in fact, it's merely comprised of a wide array of machinery and clockwork. While the Pendulum has no form it is capable of "building" itself a form of any shape and size made entirely of clockwork machinery.
The Pendulum, like the Quiet, has no intention of participating in the events that the Fears or mortals create nor does it care for what they do, intending only to repair any damages in the space-time continuum, whilst erasing any time anomalies that threaten the very fabric of existence itself.
The Pendulum is the second most powerful Fear next to the Quiet itself, being able to control time itself and allowing it to do whatever it pleases to do throughout many alternate dimensions, universes, and so on. However, it must follow the Principles of Time, a scroll containing the rules of time, and the rules that it itself created in the first place.
The Pendulum arrives only when it senses a catastrophic event about to occur in the future. The Slender Man states that whenever the Pendulum reveals itself, its presence is seen as a bad omen for it only appears when a cataclysmic occurrence is arriving soon in the future. The Pendulum is also shown to be Omniscient and Omnipresent, capable of appearing any where and anywhen it wants, for a good reason only. It also knows everything that's going to happen in the past, present, and future.
The Pendulum's domain is called the Swirling Sands, also known as The Great Sands of Time; a domain where time either moves much differently or not at all. The domain is comprised of countless clocks, watches, minute and hour hands, numbers, and other clockwork machinery. Its servants are known as Metronomes, and its Fear Herald is known as Epoch.
It was recently discovered that the Pendulum is merely one of many Pendulums created by Father Time.
Nycto: Nycto is the Fear of Darkness. He appears as a specter of sorts in the shape of a young a boy who, judging by his appearance, is 10 or possibly 11 years old and posesses cold, soul-piercingly blank and glowing eyes, with no visible irises or pupils of any kind.
Nycto's real name is revealed to be Johnny, however his last name is unknown, along with how be became a Fear. According to police reports, Johnny ventured into the woods nearly ten years ago and was never seen or heard from again. Town officials tirelessly searched for him for many days and nights, to no avail.
Soon after, word began spreading of the townsfolk becoming paranoid and seeing a small figure within the shadows inside their homes and even those outside. This paranoia increased further when the sightings became more frequent, causing them to either leave the town or commit suicide.
Nycto has become one with Darkness itself, and gained from it the ability to summon shadow like beings in the shape of any creature created by his imagination. Nycto is also invulnerable to harm since he is nothing more then a spirit or ghost. How Johnny became a Fear is unknown at the time but according to his records Johnny simply adored the dark, to where he would venture off into the woods at night constantly and close up any and all windows in his house completely blocking out any light.
Nycto's presence causing the environment around him to automatically dim to a negative ambient color or greyscale. It is unknown if his powers of Darkness rivals that of the Slender Man himself nor is it known that the two have encountered each other before but it is highly possible they have. Johnny's domain is called Limbo, and his servants are known as the Obscures.
The Typhoon: The Typhoon is the Fear of Tornadoes and Hurricanes, and a very powerful and dangerous Fear. The Typhoon has complete and totally master over the forces of nature such as Tornadoes, Floods, Tsunamis, and so on. Its main element, however, are being tornadoes and large hurricanes.
Once unleashed upon the land this Fear is a force to be reckoned with and quite frankly seen as mankind's punishment and destruction. This Fear has the ability to shoot incredibly powerful bolts of lightening capable of easily decimating entire armies, and can destroy an entire city with its twister-like legs alone with a few steps only.
It is seen as a mindless beast intent on only to destroy any across its path, but it is shown to avoid certain places and/or objects showing some form of intelligence.
Its domain is known as the Gale Tempest, easily identified as the most oppressive environment known to man and Fear as tornadoes and other natural disasters occur frequently around the domain, with thick heavy rain pouring down to no known end.
Its servants are called Cyclones, humans who were granted storm powers by the Typhoon, mainly humans with the ability known as Atmokinesis. It is believe that humans with the psi power of Atmokinsis have been "touched" by the Typhoon and chose them as its servants to help it in showing the end for mankind.
Its fear herald is known as the Vortex, a very powerful supernatural creature that came into existance not long after the Typhoon.
The Pharisee: The Pharisee is the Fear of Lies and Deception. It is the most manipulative and one of the most sadistic and elusive fears to exist. The Pharisee usually takes on the shape and form of the people they once despised in their past or a body/creature they fear.
The Pharisee can take on countless forms, ranging from humans, Fears, and to the most grotesque of monsters that causes any individual to stare at it to fall into the brink of insanity. While it can take on any form it wishes its true form has not been shown. Its true form, however, consists of a male shadow like being with no visible facial features and a fiery black smoke radiating from its head. Its gender is also undefined since it can assume the form of a female figure as well.
It is revealed that it is because of the Pharisee that the Fears began to despise one another and have trust issues with each other as well. The Pharisee is most likely the cause of many economic disasters and revolutions among the human world.
The Pharisee can easily enter or invade any location as it takes on the form of the individual who only has access to their said domain. The Pharisee has servants known as Dominos. There is heavy speculation that the Pharisee is actually the child of the Outer God known as Nyralathotep the Crawling Chaos, as the beings are somewhat similar. The Pharisee has also hinted of such.
The Debater:
The Debater is the Fear of people challenging your beliefs and trying to change your opinions. This Fear is a very old one, and is often considered one of the most intelligent. It is able to argue with anybody, often winning these arguments and leaving the other person feeling defeated and often changing what they believe, in part. He is seen as a human, normally dressed for the situation at hand, but he is able change this form to almost any human shape. He is most often seen in a black suit and red tie, with combed back hair.
His servants are known as Argument Makers, and these people are exactly that, they are debaters and arguers always trying to change and challenge thoughts or beliefs. They normally know they serve The Debater, but some are unaware they follow his example and mimic his attributes.
His realm is The Hall of Speaking, a place of constant debates and yelling contests. This realm is a seemingly endless hall, with many people arguing vehemently, sometimes breaking into a physical fight.
Isaac:
Isaac is a new born Fear, the Fear of Pain and Torture, called The Didect.
Isaac is a very skilled swordsman and gunman, using this to his advantage, making a surprisingly powerful foe for such a new Fear. Isaac can use shadows to move through places and dimensions. He is a very dark and brooding Fear (much like Spawn or Batman).
The Didect's domain is called the Mist Mountains, and, as the name implies, is filled with mist-covered mountains in an underground cavern. It has a multitude of healing items and deadly weapons. Nobody has ever entered the Mist Mountains except for Isaac.
Kiba Thompson: Kiba is the Fear of Failure, one of the most feared things among humans next to the unknown, granting her immense power. Her fear name is assumed to be "Eff Minus" a play on words of F- a grade below an F (which doesn't exist) signifying extreme failure. This, however, is actually a mere nickname or title for her, while her true Fear name is dubbed as the Deficient. She is also, since being the Slender Man's mate and wife, the Queen of Fears, and as such all Fears show total and great respect towards her and are quite loyal and willing to do anything for their Queen. She is also the mother of six children, the twins Minerva and Victoria Thompson along with Seth and Rose Thompson, and finally Raul and Hiro Thompson.
After being imprisoned in the Wooden Girl's domain for 2 years, subjected to endless torture Kiba now has a more older and mature look; 18 years of age. This clearly caused her fear powers to elevate more leading up to a crisis where she forced her fear powers upon herself to save the Slender Man, giving up her humanity to keep him alive.
Kiba in her fear form is extremely agile and fast, her strength has increased as well. However she is still young in her fear life span limiting what she is capable of. Her current abilities are: Atmokinesis, the ability to control the weather such as making storms, hurricanes or blizzards occur, and she can also use this to create dense black mist making her form practically invisible. She also possesses Optokinesis, the ability to create illusions through will power, this allows her to create duplicates of herself.
She has two dormant abilities waiting to be harnessed and mastered. One is Photokneses, which is the power to control light, such as making ones self invisible to see and the ability to manipulate any part of the electromagnetic spectrum, control of gamma rays prove this ability to grant deadly power. Another is Aggluokineses, the ability to merge with and absorb materials like glass, metal, water, stone, diamond, and such. This could grant her the ability to punch with an iron fist and defend against bullets.
The Collapsing Ruins is the domain of Kiba Thompson. A vast landscape of leaning towers, crumbling mountains and chasms filled with monstrosities, and also her servants, known as the Titans, who dwell within the chasms and trenches in the bottomless sea, ranging from the size of skyscrapers to ants, the skies filled with Monitors, circling over the realm keeping a close watch on it.
Jack Carmine:
Jack Carmine is the Fear of Greed. His realm is known as the Never-ending Feast, a large castle filled with priceless objects, carved marble, gold, silver, gems and other things men lust for. In the center room, the Throne room, is a massive table filled with food and drink. His servants are known as Gluttons, and they are all too happy to do his bidding as long as it ends up with them having a few more dollars in their pockets.
Gluttons are often chosen from the greediest of people; one who would do anything to get money, fame, or other things.
Jack's official name as a Fear is The Insatiable. He prefers to be called Jack by his friends or family, and The Insatiable by Fears.
In early 2014, he was killed by The Corruption, and a month and a half later, The Corruption released him, bringing him back to life. This caused him to fall comatose, and he has yet to awaken.
He has the ability to summon a substance known simply as "Eldritch material", which is a black, fluid like, metal that is unbreakable, unmeltable, and can only be manipulated into a solid by Jack, and the Quiet (or any beings with powers like the Quiet). However, using this ability will tire him out greatly.
He has Ferrokenesis, the ability to manipulate metal of any kind.
He has many non-greed related abilities, such as minor Biokinesis, allowing him to edit the genes of animals and humans slightly, make them feel pain or completely destroy their immune system, and so on. Also, like many Fears, he has Umbrakinesis, allowing him control over shadows and darkness, but is not equal nor does it surpass the Slender Man's mastery of Umbrakinesis.
Also, he has a few abilities he himself is unaware of or is not trained enough to use, including: Ionkenises, the ability to manipulate plasmas (such as fire or superheated gas), allowing him to manipulate it to kill or hurt, and to make it out of air. He has Cryokinesies, the ability to manipulate the cold and snow. Both abilties have yet to be realized in any way.
He also has Magnetokinesis, the control over the magnetic fields, which can be used in many ways, including knocking out electronics and deactivating passwords for doors, making keycard protected doors open at will (and once, for fun, confusing a cash register so he could buy something without paying a cent).
The Eye: The Eye is the Fear of Punishment and Judgment. There is not much known about it however, other then the fact its victims begin to see a large eye watching them everywhere they go and end up deceased with no known cause of death. Once the Eye manifests into a person, after a certain amount of time, they find another victim to posses and transform into an entity called Judgment.
It is known that the Eye is the executioner of the The Divine Council, the last step in the process of Judgement.
The Black Dog: The Eye is the Fear of Punishment and Judgment.
The Blind Man: The Blind Man is the fear of growing old and forgetting. He carries an old book with him where ever he goes. It is said that should he write your name in the book, you forget your entire childhood. He will commonly be seen wearing either sunglasses or a blindfold. If he is not, then he will have empty eye sockets, or simply blank skin in place of eyes.
His servants are called Archivists, and they dedicate themselves with collecting any and all information on the Fears. The Blind Man's domain is known as The Catacombs. The Catacombs consist of an array of underground tunnels. Thousands of books are stored here. The Catacombs are guarded by Blind Man's bone spiders, who weave the silk for the book pages.
The Pale Maiden: The Pale Maiden is the Fear of Loss. She appears as a female of 20 to 25 years of age. She has blonde hair, ice blue eyes, and is often seen in a winter parka. Her human name, true age, and alignment is largely unknown, and therefore, this Fear is considered one of the most mysterious, as even the Pharisee is obviously malevolent.
The Pale Maiden is capable of causing her victims to believe as though they are lost within a large world that seems as though is completely alien to them. Another is that she causes her victims to feel that they have lost a precious item or another object or even person of which they hold most dear to them, causing them to go into a state of depression and anxiety. Her powers seem to indicate that she can place illusions to her targeted victims.
The Biennial: The Biennial is the Fear of Plants and like the Pendulum, a benevolent Fear. The Biennial is a powerful Fear capable of controlling any plant life in the vicinity or even under ground. Despite being a benevolent Fear it is very hostile and dangerous towards any intruders who dare enter its domain uninvited. This sort of trait or behaviour is seen as territorial implying the Biennial is animalisitc and feral in nature.
The Biennial is a unique creature, seen and dubbed as the "Seed of Life" since it not only represents the Fear of Plants, but also the Fear of Nature since man is incapable of knowing how to defeat nature once it retaliates against them.
While feral and sometimes hostile, it has shown increased intelligence from time to time, and can also talk in an English dialect fairly similar to how a human would talk showing that it can understand human language. The Biennial is one that requires trust, and once it has given its trust and acceptance to an individual it sees an ally, it's nearly impossible to break.
The Biennial is also quite docile when not being threatened and around creatures or beings it sees as friends, sometimes just laying down and not caring of the affairs that's happening around it. It has servants known as Shrubs, who were transformed and composed entirely of plants and other life. Its domain is known as the Jade Forest.
Elementals of all kinds (save Darkness, and Madness) worship the Biennial as a god, and will not tolorate people trying to hurt him. Darkness Elementals respect his power but see him as a false god. He is the only Fear not seen as an abomination to the Elementals.
The Biennial is supposedly a limb of the great Elder God Mother Nature, seeing as how it is strongly connected to her and obeys her every whim to the nearest hand gesture, meaning Shrubs worship her as an even higher deity then their own creator.
The Ire: The Ire is the Fear of Wrath and Pure Rage. It is a tremendously powerful Fear for it feeds constantly off the rage, hatred, and wrath of any being within close proximity to it, and causes it to grow stronger within each passing time.
As it feeds and grows stronger, it slowly mutates as well becoming a hulking and towering Juggernaut of frightening and menacing proportions, constantly dripping off a substance that has uncanny similarities to lava when really it is actually the emotion rage liquefied.
It has the ability shoot fire and lava that burn at 5,000 kelvin which is the temperature of the sun. It can also channel its rage into energy attacks giving it more striking power.
Its servants are known as Tempers, humans who have been consumed by mindless rage and focus on nothing but to search and destroy anyone that opposes them, although they soon die out due to the immense amount of rage they emit and slowly consumes them. His domain is known as the Violent Storm.
The Empty City: This Fear is a sentient city and the fear of being lost.
The Empty City, when entering this desolate location, is virtually inescapable to its victims who will enter its streets via a random door. The victims will never find a way out, wandering the deserted streets until the day they die (which is often soon after entering).
The city also serves as a neutral meeting place for The Fears and their servants
EAT: EAT is the Fear of Obsession, drowning in one's own obsessions and drowning in water. It is comprised of a hivemind, made of Campers, and "ink" that has replaced water sources. Campers are humans and animals who have been infected by some of EAT's "ink" (a corrupted version of water that turns normal water into more of itself), and in an attempt to drive it away, developed obsessions, until their lives and bodies fell apart, and then EAT took them over completely.
EAT can travel in many forms, including EAT ink, ice, steam, vapor, and mist. Also, a Camper can be used to interact with the world (as they almost always are). If need be, EAT can gain a non-water, non-vaporous form, similar to The Kraken of mythology.
The Intrusion: The Intrusion is the Fear of Insects, swarms and hives being invaded from within. The Intrusion is seen as a hivemind working from within but it truly is a hivemind controlled by one insectoid like being with mind controlling properties.
The Intrusion uses human hosts to reproduce and multiply to exponential proportions. Once it reaches a host, it buries itself within every orfice in order for it to lay eggs, where in the process, causing the victim to become ill or delusional even.
Once the eggs hatch the newborns begin to control and consume the victim very slowly over time. Any harm done the individual's body will only serve to agitate it more and force it to revert into its true from making it even more deady and dangerous then it was before.
Its servants are known as Drones who are also the human hosts it infects but develop an insect-like appearance slowly over time the more infected they are. The Drones only abilities are superhuman strength, speed, and can shoot acid from their mouths. It's herald is known as the Mothman, who unknown to it, is not exactly loyal to it as many other Fear Heralds are to their masters.
The realm of this being is known as The Hive.
The Anathema: The Anathema is the Fear of Monsters and is depicted by many as the Fear of being eternally cursed and/or damned. The Anathema is a a creature who's horror may rival that of the Other Ones but the main difference being is that it seeks not to destroy the world or anything else, however, it will kill any individual that opposes it if need be.
The Anathema is comprised of a black tar-like substance, or a blob of some sort with a white mask that has 3 eye holes but with no visible eyes. If one should look closely however you can see blood red eyes, the size of pins, peeking out from the mask.
The Anathema has the ability to shape-shift like the Pharisee but can only shape-shift into Eldtrich monsters of terrible and frightening appearences that can make any mortal who dare look at it fall into complete madness and eventually die in the end. It can also sprout bone shaped arms or appendages from any part of its body suitable for combat use only. The claws on the boney arms are strong enough to cut through titanium steel, and also can release a venom capable of paralyzing its prey in order for it to consume them in the end.
While the Anathema may seem to be a deadly and dangerous creature it is really a sad and very tragic being. It was once a human, a man to be more specific, during the 1500s who began studying the occult and upon creatures of both supernatural and cosmic origin. He did also had a family, wife and daughter, but the wife died due to lung cancer and his daughter was all that's left. This study has caused the man to become an outcast and be shunned completely from society, to the point where even the church has cursed and damned him for eternity thinking that he is using dark magic and may bring demons to ravage their land.
Later, the people of his village had captured and then hanged him from a massive black tree, dubbed as the Tree of Death, and left him there to rot with his daughter being a witness to the horrifying sight. Three years later, the human was somehow resurrected and transformed into a terrifying and awful abomination now fueled by rage and vengeance, searching for its daughter and will not stop until it does so.
His domain is the very place where he died, but his village, now barred and charred, is addressed as the Village of the Damned with his servants known as Imps.
The Convocation: The Convocation is a Fear made up of thousands of crows with a hive mind, and it is the fear of heights, being taken away and being kidnapped.
The Convocation is known as "spirits of the storm" because of its ability to control lightning and storms, it is an old Fear, and intelligent to show its years of being alive. It is capable of merging its birds together to create huge morphs of flying beasts resembling birds. Giant birds in myths are thought to have been down to this Fear, such as the legendary Persian Roc.
The servants of this Fear are known as "Nests". The Convocation's birds house in these servants and nest inside them until it decides to burst out of them and flock together.
The Convocation's domain is The Bleak Shore, an endless beach with black sand and a raging storm overhead.
The Convocation has little interest in the affairs of other Fears, however, recently the Convocation has become respectful to the Slender Man, recogonizing him as the King of Fears and Kiba Thompson as Queen. This puts an end to their continuous confilcts.
The Philosopher: The Philosopher is a low level fear. He takes the form of a young man in a suit, with blue eyes and hair and is covered with belts.
He loves riddles, and tends to make up nonsense words while he speaks. He can bend reality and modify his surroundings to his desires. Kind of like how the people in inception can create a dreamscape. The belts act as records of time and space, and they allow him to manipulate both.
He is one of the few fears not after Kiba Thompson, as he holds no interest with trying to catch her.
The Quiet: The Quiet is the Fear of the Nothingness. The Silent Void and the Screaming Darkness. The Quiet claims us all and it manifests as a crack in reality. It has the ability to "unmake" things, such as slowly tearing away reality and wiping anything and anyone from existence, making it the most powerful Fear to date.
The Quiet can be everywhere and nowhere. It can pass from reality to reality and can be sighted in different universes consuming each one before moving on to the next. It has no alternate version of itself.
Despite its seemingly God-like power, it is simply a being of immense power, and many beings (the Other Ones, the Corruption, Death, God, the Lovecraftian Gods, etc.) are immune to it's ability to erase things from existence, and can injure or even kill the Quiet.
Its servants are known as "The Hushed Monks", however, the Quiet lacks any care for them for they are known as a cult rather than servants. Unlike all fears the Quiet seems to have no interest in claiming Kiba Thompson's soul, nor does it care for the ongoing affairs and quarrels that happen between the fears and the Slender Man. The Quiet has now made peace with Kiba Thompson, by offering her a blue sun in a powerful container, and now no longer sees her as a potential threat and, quite possibly, as a future ally.
The Rake: The Rake is the Fear of brutality and animosity. It's stature and behavior is beast-like, however, this has been recently found to be a mere act. The Rake is far more intelligent than it lets on and also is not the singular being it is thought of as. Admittedly there is one true Rake which we know is the center of the operations, but surrounding it are packs of other beings identical except for one factor, the original Rake has part of its claw missing after a fight with the Fear hunter Jared Fleming, others do not, however they could easily get in similar fights to mimic such a battle scar. The Original Rake can recruit servants via his constant whispering which drive people to madness, these servants are known as Maenads. So far the Rake has not come in contact with the Slender Man and like most fears it is after Kiba Thompson.
The Wooden Girl: The Wooden Girl is a perverse puppeteer who is the fear of being controlled, abused and manipulated. She is known to be a very cruel and sadistic fear, this being known throughout all Fears, for she takes immense pleasure in the long and painful torture of her victims and sometimes even her own servants.
While it is possible to destroy her physical shape with fire, she can however, easily survive via possession of the person closest to her. After taking control, the poor hosts body will mutate painfully to look more like a creepy marionette.
Her servants are known as Dolls. Most are forced to become her servants, their actions completely against their will, however there are a handful which serve her willingly, the number of willing servants dwindling in numbers.
The Screaming Tower is the Wooden Girl's domain, appearing as a vast and seemingly endless tower wrapped in tattered stringsand ropes, complete with bloodstained cloth, decomposed corpses, skeletons, old ventriloquist puppets hanging from it, and patchwork vultures circling in the skies. Somewhere in the higher floors a mass of frequent loud screaming can be heard, it is unknown which floor for it is since it is incredibly high up.
The fear Kiba Thompson was held here by the Wooden Girl for many years, and has taken a large toll on the young fear. She has currently gone into hiding.
The Cold Boy: The Cold Boy is the Fear of the cold, and of being rejected and alienated by others. His servants are known as Children Of The Cold. He often sings nursery rhymes, and always speakings in ryhmes, and his voice is chilling, and haunting. Upon contact with any living thing, he can freeze the said living thing solid. When touching inanimate surfaces, frost will form on it.
His domain is the Winter Court, a city full of ice covered buildings or even buildings made of ice, however one building known as "The Winter's Heart" is different and houses the "true" form of the cold boy. It is said all Children Of The Cold have seen this form once and it has made their eyes turn black.
He wishes to take Kiba Thompson as a Child Of The Cold, and states that: "She should wise up, and see that Slendy is too hot-headed to be a good fear, and must... cool off..."
Due to JOKER, he is currently hunting Lillith. And sent his Herald called the Glacier after her as well.
The Manufactured Newborn: The Manufactured Newborn is the Fear of the future, and technology. It is a very powerful Fear, with many servants, known as Towerborn.
Towerborn are humans who have been modified by technology. They no longer need rest, sleep, or any human requirments, similar to the Cyborgs produced by Black Eden.
The Thoughtborn are humans whose mind and body have become separate, and they can travel as files throughout the internet, and can infect any electronic device.
This beings domain is known as the Towering Realm, little is known about this odd place other than this is where The Manufactured Newborn's true form lies, a vast tower of numerous machinery and other objects. The Manufactured Newborn stated that: "When I get my claws on that bloody Slender Man, he is a Towerborn. And will belong to me forever.
The Slenderman: The Slender Man is a faceless and incredibly powerful being that lurks within the deepest corners of the forest. He is the Fear of Strangers and the Unknown. He is not to be trifled with and considered to be the strongest of the Fears, and is dubbed as the King of the Fears.
He watches, he knows, and he hears. There is no escape and nowhere to hide, he will find you until you run to the ends of the Earth. He does not pause, he does not hesitate, and he does not show mercy. The Slender Man is revealed to be a Primordial being, and also the Primoridal God of Darkness and one of the children of Chaos.
His servants are known as Proxies, servants whom are completely loyal and will follow and obey him without question or hesitation. Though unlike most masters, who take advantage of their own servants, the Slender Man does not leave his servants to die but will instead fight along side them if needed.
Since the Slender Man began to protect his servant Kiba Thompson, who is hunted down by the Fears, he is now labeled as a traitor by his own kind and he too is hunted down by the Fears constantly. That, however, has long passed since Kiba became a full-fledged Fear, and a mate to the Slender Man, and the latter earning the respect of other Fears causing them abandon their persistent hunt for Kiba.
His domain is the Path of the Black Leaves, a seemingly endless path surrounded by a forest of black trees, strange and rogue creatures roam the forest whilst proxies use the path as a means of travel, while one guards it. Some accounts tell of a lone red tree in the forest known as "The Bleeding Tree" a plant-like entity that is rumored to, quite possibly, be an extension of the Slender Man himself.
The Bleeding Tree is said to resemble a large, black, tree which has many contorted, human-like faces upon it in growths, each one secreting from the "eyes" and "mouth" a sticky, blood red substance. The Slender Man is typically seen as a cruel, sadistic being, but upon closer observation, it has been proved that he is in fact kind, much kinder than others of his species. Though he retains his sadistic reputation when engaged within conflict.
The Plaque Doctor: The Plague Doctor is the fear of illness. Hated by millions around the world, he can slip in and out of society at will, and his servants are doctors, who simply care little for human life, known as Oath Breakers, Mad Doctors, or Night Surgeons.
He is rarely observed to speak, and when he does, he will say something relating to "curing" the person. Sometimes even his mere presence can cause hypochondria (a disorder where you have a constant paranoia of being sick).
The Plague Doctor claims to have, not only one, but, in fact, seventeen children with the various Oathbreakers, and he has outright said "Children are VERY good for experiments", implying he uses his own children as test subjects, meaning many of them could be the creatures known as The Walking Plague, which are the heralds of the The Plague Doctor.
The Plague Doctor was created when an unknown entity split into two entities, creating The Plague Doctor, and the Virulent.
His domain is The Crumbling Castle.
