The First 40
Life Lesson # 1
Life is like a wooden platform, in many ways;
it seems large at first, but once explored, it can get boring really fast;
it seems like you have so many choices at first, but then you realize that all of them eventually lead to the same conclusion, anyway;
it seems incredibly solid and everlasting at first, but jumping on the same spot over and over will eventually wear it down and plunge you through to oblivion.
And sometimes, it's best to simply sit at the center and do nothing but dream.
Life Lesson #2
Dreams are an extension of reality, but reality can only be found at the end of a dream.
Life Lesson #3
We come here... because inspiration never comes to those who actively seek it.
Life Lesson #4
If you have the luxury and the time of worrying about the black queen at the side of your enemy, then worry about protecting the white queen at your side instead, first and foremost.
Life Lesson #5
Courage is not the absence of fear or despair; rather, it is the strength to defy both.
Life Lesson #6
Good friends are like stars: you may not always see them, but you know that they are, and always will be, right there.
Life Lesson #7
If life is just a game that tries to bring me to tears, then all I have to do to win is smile.
Life Lesson #8
The biggest enemy in the world is the world itself.
Life Lesson #9
In this world, only those who have problems say that they're 'all right' when asked.
Life Lesson #10
It is an honor to be hated, an opportunity to be attacked.
Life Lesson #11
"And so, there is no such thing as corruption when you are the one holding the gun."
Life Lesson #12
We seem to be the generation that has a problem with smiling.
Life Lesson #13
Those who head for the summit may end up losing their path, and then find nothing behind them.
Life Lesson #14
"I won't accept you if you give up now.
Only those who can carry the burden - only those who can move on, even if they are covered in mud from head to toe, even if they are sullied, and insulted, and drowning in the blood of others - only they are worthy.
For there is no other way to change the world; there is no other way to change themselves."
Life Lesson #15
A man should not be expected to do more than what is his duty, but a man should never shirk from doing more than that which he is charged with.
Life Lesson #16
The more we chase away after the world, the further it gets.
Therefore, it begs a question: should we stay and wait, or should we continue to give chase?
Life Lesson #17
Sometimes, for the sake of our meeting, I must choose to let them go.
Life Lesson #18
It is a sad thing that many brave souls will not live to see the future they fight for.
Life Lesson #19
And when you say your good-byes, you don't actually tell them you're leaving - just give the indication that you might not see them again, ever.
Life Lesson #20
The difference between a hero and a warrior is that a hero never fights alone, while the warrior stands strong in his solitude.
Life Lesson #21
And we must realize that to see their resilience as admirable is, indeed, something worthy of respect - but their ideas can not, should not, and should never be heeded.
Life Lesson #22
The faster you go, the more frightening it is when you realize that you've stopped.
Life Lesson #23
He whom many fear must fear many.
Life Lesson #24
Some day, we will realize just how much of a blessing this freedom, built upon a pillar of sand, really is.
Life Lesson #25
Sometimes one can accomplish most by doing nothing.
Life Lesson #26
It is strange how it takes living in one's own fairytale in order to truly comprehend reality.
Life Lesson #27
It is incredibly ironic how misery loves company.
Life Lesson #28
You don't know how strong you are... until being strong is the only choice you have left.
Life Lesson #29
Can you still be pensive in the midst of the din of the crowd?
Life Lesson #30
Teach your students only those lessons which you yourself wish to learn.
Life Lesson #31
It is neither by our efforts nor our intentions that we are defined; it is by our victories.
Life Lesson #32
Expecting intellectuals to think that they understand things better than those who have experienced them should be a matter of course for any college student; it helps prevent brainwashing,
Life Lesson #33
Don't be afraid of the dark; in time, you'll be able to see through and within it. Instead, be afraid of the light, the all-swallowing light; no matter how sharp your eyes, in it, you will always be blinded.
Life Lesson #34
Realizing that you can not do everything on your own is the first and greatest step towards maturity.
Life Lesson #35
Saving and killing people are basically the same thing; one has to take responsibility for what has been done afterwards.
Life Lesson #36
Say good bye to the frontier; it's far too bright now.
Life Lesson #37
That sorrowful posture, that pained expression; as regretful as it is to say, they really suit you.
Life Lesson #38
Appraisal is an activity best done alone, but one can not find the true worth of something from just a single opinion.
Life Lesson #39
Whoever tries to swim against the current is a true idiot, but at least he has proven a conviction rare among people.
Life Lesson #40
Maybe; maybe so. But look - there is no one who would ask why I should come to love someone, and, therefore, no one should ask for a qualifier as to why I hate someone.
All else until the crash
Life Lesson #41
Woe to the person who lives by leeching life from others, for he neither acknowledges nor understands the value of the time he has been given, or the amount thereof, for his mind is drowning in self-pity.
Life Lesson #42
Hope and despair come hand-in-hand; it is up to the afflicted to choose how to play with these fickle playmates.
Life Lesson #43
Sadly, we cannot choose when and where we meet that end... But we can choose how we meet it - so that we can be remembered, as men.
Life Lesson #44
In a world where the impossible is nothing, the simple becomes unreasonable.
Life Lesson #45
Salvation is most often found on the heels of desperation.
Life Lesson #46
The biggest problem with sympathy is how easily it can be taken - and given - as pity.
Life Lesson #47
Impotence can be a dangerously addictive feeling, even if one does not acknowledge it as such.
Life Lesson #48
Those wishing for a silent despair are often the ones with the brightest of wings.
Life Lesson #49
To be honest, I'm still trying to find meaning in the warmth created by spinning around in the darkness.
Life Lesson #50
The darkness is strongest with a blinding light.
Life Lesson #51
There is only so much solace one can find in knowledge.
Life Lesson #52
Part of the value of money is that it's there for the taking.
Life Lesson #53
If people are not allowed to sin, then people are also not allowed to be virtuous.
Life Lesson #54
The root of victory lies in faith, unity, and joy.
Life Lesson #55
There is no one to blame when it rains.
Life Lesson #56
Boredom is one of the most ignorant forms of arrogance.
Life Lesson #57
The darkness is the most direct route to the light; the light is the easiest way to the darkness.
Life Lesson #58
Fear not the enemy without, for they clearly visible; fear instead the enemy within - those who pretend to be friends, to be trusted comrades.
Life Lesson #59
Evil does not recognize itself as being so; it successfully convinces others and itself that it is the righteous path, to be taken at the cost of the unsuspecting.
Life Lesson #60
Can you just admit to yourself that you're weak, lonely, and fragile?
Life Lesson #61
And for those of us who disappear without a trace, it matters not to be guilty of a crime. At least, let us have the glory and brilliance of victory.
