'Related to Canon X' leads to Mary Sue-ism, and in anything with multiple female love interests leads to... arguments.

By removing all canons from the equation, you have a clean slate: you have the organisation, and the power definitions. The perfect sandbox; no need to worry about explaining how an OC took over the 11th Division without basically saying 'they beat everyone in a swordfight' or the like.

This could work quite well, I think. However, as some might desire certain canon elements kept...

Perhaps a compromise; an AU, but one where certain characters continue to exist. Ignore the events of canon, but keep the existence of canon characters as needed. Perhaps a few captains or lieutenants, perhaps a few human world characters as well, kept in place in the newly created status quo. Thus allowing for a stable setting, and the inclusion of details from canon, but also allows for a broad jumping off point as events progress. Unfettered by canon, but permitted to keep the elements of it if desired.

Well, if that's the case: my current idea basically consists of 'what if we gave a child a lot of Reiatsu and a reaaaaaaaaaally big sword'? Or, in other words, female young Kenpachi without the fighting obsession.

I think, when I used them in muted form, they were 2nd Division. XD

The idea I'm currently toying with is something like if you mixed Yachiru and Shiro-chan with Mayuri.

Intro: Young Captain of the 12th squad who is far less experienced than her peers, but was given this rank from the now deceased previous Captain and accepted by the other Captains due to her recently developed Bankai and exceptional strength relative to the other candidates. She has inherited more than the leader of R&D's title, she's also inherited tons and tons of research, all of which had never been properly sorted or disclosed to the public.

So, my basic idea is an Officer or Captain who's an incredibly hotblooded manly man...whose Shikai is a giant bubble wand. Not sure which division. Maybe 9th?
