Lesson learned: I should wash my stove thoroughly and absolutely trying to use it. Especially if it's an older stove. A gas operate stove. That lit old burned food remnants from the previous owner .

I also learned that soup is a good anti-fire tool.

Not really. Gas stoves give better, more stable heat control, and also limit hot/cold spots on your pans.Really? Gas is overall better. Just potentially more hazardous. But it is not as if an electric stove that is never cleaned, cannot catch fire either. They definitely can. Ask me how I know.
