Welcome to the Saint Aldareen school for Mages and Knights. This school has specifically been made to train the pairs for battle, as well as normal life. This RP is set in the country of Iggladdyn, which is heavily influenced by religion. Under constant threats of war, the school was built after a great mage, who was known as Archmage Varrfel, discovered something called a Celestial bond. Using a ritual of sorts, he was able to attach two people with an emotional connection, creating a Celestial bond. One person in the pair gains miraculous strength, and the ability to summon a special weapon/piece of armor, called an artifact, while the other gains great magical power, and the ability to summon a creature, their familiar. They are referred to as Knight, and Mage, respectively. Oh, If you haven't guessed yet, this is set in a medieval fantasy world.
You are a new student at the school, having just participated in the ritual with someone you have an emotional connection to, you are now a Mage/Knight, and must participate in classes, and learn how to work with your partner, all the while keeping your emotional connection intact.
Emotional connection- The emotional connection is what allows the Celestial bond to happen. This connection can be any sort of emotional bond between two people, as long as it is a bond that heavily connects two people. Such as: A will to protect, Love, Hate, Rivalry, or maybe some sort of family relation.
Celestial bond- The celestial bond gives the pair their powers, along with the ability to tell where the other one is, understand them, and maybe read their thoughts, though this depends on the bonds strength.
Artifact- The artifact is the weapon that a Knight can summon. These can also be armor. Each Knight only has 1 artifact, and can summon it whenever they want. The artifact can have some sort of power of its own, but it should not be overpowered, or make the idea of the pair ( the pair should be a two person team that flows together seamlessly)
When writing the artifact into your char sheet it should be Artifactname:The Artifact (Ex: Aegis:The shield,Excalibur:The sword)
Familiar- The Familiar is a magical beast that a Mage can summon. For clarification: the cannot be a species that can talk, or one that looks humanoid. The Familiar should reflect the mage, as well as the emotional bond of the pair. The Familiar can have magical abilities, but it should not be overpowered, or be able to overshadow the pair. THIS IS NOW OPTIONAL
Magic- The worlds magic is divided into 5 elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, and Storm (electricity)
most Mages specialize in 1 or 2 elements, so they can improve their power in those, rather than being weak, or slightly good, with all of them. A mage who is part of a pair is able to control some elements better than others, this is usually representative of the emotional bond between the pair, as well as the Mage's personality and history.
Here is a list of the elements, their uses, and usual casting times:
Fire- Fire magic is the most widely used, which is a given, since it has some practical uses, as well as its powerful uses in battle. Fire magic's practical uses are anything that requires fire, really, especially cooking, and similar things, as the ability to control fire is really good for evenly cooking food, also, it opens the door to more creative cooking methods.
I don't even have to mention Fire's uses in battle, do I? Fire spells have varied casting times, the longer the time, the stronger the spell, usually.
Water- Water magic has many great uses, including in the fishing industry, which is where many water Mages work, as they can use certain spells to sense the fish, and control the water to bring them into a net, or strand them on the shore. Water mages, are also used to help guide ships to their destination, by controlling the water, and moving the boat in the right direction. Though, there are other uses for water Mages, including being healers. Yes, there are healing spells that a water mage can preform. A water mage can also be used in war, with the use of ice magic, or normal water magic, they can control naval battles. Water magic usually has short to medium casting times, but it requires a source of water to work.
Earth- Earth magic is very odd, indeed. Earth magic's usefulness depends on the strength of the user, so most earth Mages are large, muscular men. In the right hands, earth magic can be the greatest, and in the wrong hands, entirely useless. Earth magic is used in architecture for the obvious ability to move giant rocks from point A to point B. It is also used in agriculture, for the ability to "read" the soil, and understand the nutrient content of the soil. Earth Mages in agriculture usually work with water Mages, making agriculture one of the most efficient business's the world has. Earth Mages are also common in battle, given that they can alter the terrain to their desire (as long as it is within their power, anyway) The casting time for earth magic depends on the strength of the user, but it does put strain on the user's body.
Air- Air/Wind Mages are the least common, as the world has little reason for them. Only recently have Wind Mages started to grow in number, as the first airship prototypes have been created. Wind Mages are not common in battle, but they are good at cleaning up, so, a good few wind Mages work in the cleaning staff of many nobles. Wind magic has many spells that are quick-cast (short casting time), and many that have long casting times.
Storm- Electricity is a term not yet created in this world, so this is referred to as Storm magic. Storm Mages are seen working in the field of science, usually. They also have extremely powerful uses in battle, given that 1 or 2 shocks from a storm Mage's lightning could kill you pretty easily. Storm magic has many short cast spells, but they are not easy to aim, and they can be harmful to the user. Storm magic also has a good number of spells with medium casting times, though these have a high failure rate.
The school itself- The school is quite large, The campus is around 800 acres (1.25 square miles) in size, the outer portion being woods. The campus is surrounded by a 8 foot tall stone brick wall.
the main building, with classrooms, the dining hall, a library, an armory, and a storage room (for food and stuff) is about the size of a small castle, though its design is less extravagant. The main building (known as the Aldaris building) has many corridors and rooms that are blocked off, so that the students can't enter them. It is not known why the students aren't allowed in these rooms.
There is a group of barns near the main building, this is where the larger familiars are kept, along with horses, and a few cows.
at the back of the main building is where the many carriages are stored. I mean, these Mages and Knights are treated as nobles, you don't want them to walk EVERYWHERE, do you?
There is also a large church on the campus, as it was deemed holy land, where the students, who are extremely important, would be protected by the church. This also means that anyone other than the staff, and the students (and the priest of course) is not allowed on the campus.
A bit towards the south end of the land, there is a training area, a field full of training dummies, targets, and weapon racks. This is where the students would be getting most of their combat training, it is also the main reason for the carriages.
East of the main building is the dorms. There are 4 dorm buildings set up, 1 for the staff, and 3 for the students. Each of these is a house. The one closest to the faculty building is the gold dorm, this is Aldareen house. The next is white dorm, this is the Sevarice house. The last, which seems to have the least extravagant decor, is the grey dorm, this is the Senfar house.
If you guessed, the gold dorm is where the pairs that seem the best stay, the okay pairs are in the white dorm, the rest are shoved into grey dorm. The Gold dorm actually doesn't have enough rooms for all of the gold level students, so they were placed in white, moving some people to grey. You, for whatever reason are in GREY! happy failure, my friend.
Dorm setup- The Dorm setup is pretty simple, the Mage and Knight in a pair will share a room. The decor is up to the RPers in the pair
Casting style- This is something I put in the mage character sheet, basically what is the style your mage will use, your options are as follows (please take into account the magical element your mage uses):
One of these:
Fast cast- your mage uses spells that are usually weaker, but fast to cast.
Medium cast- Your mage uses spells that aren't strong, but they aren't weak, their casting times aren't long, but they aren't short either.
Long cast- Your mage uses powerful spells, but they take more time than you would want to cast.
and one of these:
Offense- your Mage's spells are usually for attacking
Defense- your Mage's spells are usually for defending you and your partner
Support-your Mage's spells are usually for buffing your partner, and debuffing your opponent
Example: offensive long cast, or Defensive short cast
Your mage does not have to stick with this, I just want to get an idea of what your mage will do.
Things I am getting annoyed by:
DO NOT CREATE A CS UNTIL YOU HAVE FOUND A PARTNER, PLEASE.
You character does not have to have already been a mage/knight, honestly, unless you have a REALLY good reason, I would rather you don't do that kind of background.
These Knights aren't like legit medieval Knights, no the term "Knight" is simply being used for lack of a better word. Oh, and women could be knights in this world, why? because I don't want to tick off people by discriminating.
The Knight does not need to wear armor, so please, you don't need that sort of description. I mean, your not going to walk into a classroom in full on chain mail, with a sword at your side, right?
1. Follow all RPG rules
2. I would like you to keep it PG-13, leave any mature content for PM.
3. You are 1/2 of a team, don't just solo everything.
4. Everyone is allowed to control 2 characters at a time. AKA, if you don't wanna be in a pair with someone else, you can be a pair by yourself.
5. All of the characters are freshmen, unless I decide to make an exception for someone who asks.
6. No godmodding, bunnyhopping, ETC. You are not god, you are not everywhere.
7.Any sort of relationship is allowed between two characters, as I will not discriminate.
8 It might bug you, but don't bug me to accept your character, if I didn't put your character in the accepted pair list 48 hours after you post it, either you don't have a partner yet, or one of you have a problem. (Or I just couldn't get to it due reasons)
9. No fighting in the OOC

Artifact description/pic:
Name: Aegis
Age(15-25): 19
Gender: Male
Appearance:
just with a more normal looking shirt collar, and no tie.
Personality: His emotional comprehension is weak, he can only really understand the feelings of (insert partner here) because she is the person he was around the most. His emotions don't easily show, making his voice mostly monotone. His emotions are simply boiled down to this "I am a simply her shield, and I must protect her." He does have emotions, and does care for her, but can only knows how to express it through protection.
Equipment: To be added
History: He was an orphaned child, his mother dying at his birth, his father never to be seen. He was taken in by a noble family, raised as a servant boy, as he grew up he did menial tasks, until he was given the most important role of his life. From age 3, he was tasked with watching over their daughter, protecting her, making sure she stayed out of trouble, and trouble stayed from her. He himself was given little to no affection, simply being trained coldly, treated as a servant and nothing else. This lead to a lack of greater emotional understanding. He would always take orders from (insert partner here), and would never put her in harms way, and once she wanted to go to an academy, she of course took him with her.Without question, he participated in the ritual, and ended up in the school.
Paired with:
Emotional bond description: He feels as if he is simply (insert noble female partner here)'s shield, and this is his purpose, he only wants her safety, to protect her. This bond also serves as a one sided relationship, the shield, and the girl he protects, who shows affection for him, as he has protected her all her life.
Artifact(Knight only):Aegis-The shield
Artifact description/pic:It is simply coincidence that he shares a name with the shield, which is more or less a pair of white and gold gauntlets that can create a magical barrier, able to deflect as much as the controllers will can stand.
Other(optional): Fun fact- this is the second time I have made a near-emotionless character, both with the same picture.
