Well it's the inciting event in the DCU Online Game, the premise for the Flash TV show, and what Shaw wanted to do in X-Men First Class. So maybe not a widespread device but it's becoming more common. Like the need to have a stinger after every movie.

It's currently around 10:30 pm around here so don't worry :P

And Marion Harmon and Myke Cole are respectively the authors of the most bitchin' Superhero and Military Fantasy series I have ever read.

I'll need to finish reading the back story, but I'm definitely interested. Are there any direct limitations if I wanted to play a Hank Pym or Batman-esque character?

Okay, so I have seen those types of things in movies and games. What I was more surprised about here wasn't the mass empowering event, just what lead up to it and how it ended up ocurring.

The only limitation is that for any badass normal type, they should specialize in being really good at a few areas and just being competent at others. I basically don't want scientists that are masters of every discipline or batman-types who are good at everything. And their mastery of their skills and background have to be plausible. Because when you come down to it Batman's backstory isn't very plausible. And any scientific technobabble has to sound plausible at least too.

EDIT: Huh, you had political turmoil too?

And it should be noted that the PCs can be more than just villain ass-kickers. They can be medical specialists, tech guys, investigators, etc etc.

For some reason the site isn't letting me make a CS thread and that's where all the sheets would be going. If it isn't fixed before you happen to finish a sheet post it in the OOC until the CS thread does come up.

Yup, my CS is gonna have to wait for another day. I still have the Psychological Profile and Bio to write. Usually I have the most trouble with those too, especially the bio.

Yeah Bio is always a tough thing to pin down.

I'd like a character who wasn't based around purely physical combat though. We're getting a lot of people with regen, strength, and durability :P

Well, right now my guy's more of a glass cannon/fragile speedster type of char. I'd also be willing to give the ranged/medic thing a try with another character.

Actually, that works out perfectly! Especially if I force 'em to work together. Now there's only the problem of writing yet another CS. :D

I'm very interested and mulling over a character as I type this. Problem is, I can't decide on what kind to go for (both ideas are for a female character).

On the one hand I have an idea in which the character's powers will be exclusively based on defense and evasion. Ideal for reconnaissance, really. Think shields, invisibility, that kind of thing. No extraordinary physical abilities. Code name: Rat.

Idea Two: A being not unlike the elves seen in Hellboy 2: The Golden Army. Think Prince Nauda without the whole murder-all-humans thing. This idea is less fleshed out in my mind than the first,

Hellboy 2 was an awesome movie, I remember watching it to pass the time when my dad was busy at some conference.

Why not use both ideas together? It wouldn't be too hard to mix the two and say something like her skills and powers were taught to her by her elven masters/parents/group or whatever you want to put there.

Maybay, Hellboy 2 was awesome.

I could see the two ideas working pretty well separately.

If you want to mix shields and invisibility just have them be a Metahuman reminiscent of Susan Storm. A better codename might work two :P

And the second character could be a telepathic elf-born like Nuala. Half-breed children of mystical beings are getting more and more common in the world and they straddle a line between the mortal and magic worlds.
