Hey all, I was just wondering what kinds of story lines and settings people would be most interested in seeing in an rp with the central plot conceit of within the past 6 months about ten percent of the earths population has developed super powers. Also what level of powers would you be most interested in playing with.

I had created a superhero RP, but it seems to have died. Anyway, my plot for it was that an organization was created to prevent further generations of metahumans ( superheroes/villains). Therefore, they targeted the teenager metas, ones who - in their perspective - were dangerous and uncontrollable. In addition to that, they weren't as skilled as older heroes/villains.

In order to battle against and capture them, the organization used acquired meta DNA to create their own weapon. This weapon, a cloned meta, was found too powerful for one Hero. In effect, other heroes had to help out in order to stop the meta clone.

That's what my concept had been for my rp. What went wrong was the disappearance of an important member, so it's been difficult. Anyhow, that's just an idea.

If this RP takes off, I'd like to have that set plot you're talkin about, but I'd also like for it to be character driven. What I mean by that, is that there should be, may we say 'sagas', that are developed by a characters backstory. For example:

Dave, alias Heatblast, was born to a family of thieves. His parents went to jail, so he decided to become a hero, all in attempt to not turn out like his parents. Couple months after he joined a superhuman team, his parents escape prison and take the names of Sharpshooter and Darkshade. They start robbing banks and hurting people. Blah blah blah - the team has to stop Daves parents, blah blah.

I just want the characters background to have some effect in the overall story - that's all I'm sayin.

All this is an idea I'd like to throw out there. As for setting, I'd like a city/futuristic style location. Not too far into the future though.

I'd be interested in a sort of Watchmen/Kick-Ass type RP where we don't exactly have powers more just people. If others would want powers that would be fine too, but I wouldn't want to be in a team where everyone has about 6-7 powers. Everyone's power stems from a different background or base (mythological, scientific, genetic, etc.) and then you build your character's story alongside others while we somehow make each story intertwine involving an overall plot?

If people were limited to only a few powers I'd be interested. Kind of like, we're tier one super heroes. Static shock, you know? Teir two being more powerful like, green lantern I suppose. Their three is superman. We don't have to be the only superheroes, but I don't want us to be the top dogs

I'd like to see one with the heroes and villains interacting, maybe being friends and stuff in their day to day lives. But as I said, heroes AND villains, so when the time comes, they fight without knowing who each other are, as they slowly learn who each other are, based on the way they act in and out of costume. It'd be a maybe 10 person RP, 5 heroes 5 villains, and they'd spend some time both in and out of costume. I don't know, I'm not a good GM so I would love to see if anyone would maybe like that?

Well if 10% of people were developing super powers in the past 6 months. Most people wouldn't believe they existed. people who realized they had powers and could control them are either getting drunk on power or going into hiding. Others who aren't in control or don't think they have powers have things happen related to their powers under stress. They RP would revolve around characters developing their powers and choosing to either use them to the benefit of themselves or others. It would be cool if new aspects of their powers were discovered along the way like someone who realizes they can fly later learns that flying is a subset of gravity or telekinetic powers.

Where everyone has their one set power, without them having to be element driven.

I'm probably in. I got an idea for a character in mind and I like Resiak's and Experiment's ideas.

If it's 10% instead of 1 in 20 million, then it should be a global phenomenon. It can't be hidden no matter how hard you try, because out of those 700 million there will always be some who likes to show it off. Hence my ideas, based on that simple observation, that come out of my head are as follows:

1. The specials will have to register to their respective national governments (with a detection test at least being in development), and they are supposed to be closely watched. Their whereabouts are always tracked, their words are always being listened, their Internet history is recorded, basically they are totally deprived of privacy under the pretext of "national security". Some countries, however, do not implement the same rules and become countries that the specials want to escape to, much to the dismay of other countries.

2. One of the specials created that fascist group that is starting to get support from an ever-growing number of specials as well as the normals, although the number of specials in the group will be of particular interest. The good guys (including anti-fascist normals) must stop the organization before the rest of the world couldn't match the group's might.

3. When two superpower countries (or perhaps three?) are locked in another cold war, the discovery of specials dramatically changes every nation's cold war playbooks. Countries begin recruiting specials, offering large payments to those specials for serving the country, and start developing war tactics and strategies around them. Once the situation escalates quickly, a new treaty was signed in an aim to reach a detente. Under the treaty, countries possessing such capabilities are obliged to "decommission" their specials, whatever that means.

As for the level of powers, having 700 million supermans will destroy the story before it even begins. Thus, I prefer that most specials will be able to give damages on a personnel level (i.e. going into a house barehanded and kill every (normal) people in it) without too much effort, but few will be able to give damages on a structural level (i.e. destroying the whole house itself and flattening it to the ground). One or two people can be more powerful than that, but there should be a lot of asterisks attached to that. All specials start out having only one power, although a handful of them will gain more as time progresses.

I'd be interested in a superpower RP.

I'm really interested in this, especially if we had both heroes and villains and I do have an idea for a hero/villain already.

I am also in agreement that each hero would need to have a limit to their powers especially when starting. They could possibly only start with one and have the possibility of improving it or gaining new powers as the RP progresses

I have an idea for a superhero that has a very interesting twist to him.

But my superhero is not technically a superhero. I like to go the more 'grounded' route. My superhero uses trained skills, his tactical thinking, and gadgets to assist him in his missions.

I'm not sure if I want to go with:
1. He is a normal human, just damn good at what he does, or
2. He was gravely injured, but cybernetic implants saved his life and enhanced his body.

You know what? No. I got an idea for a superhero and I've been thinking about it a lot lately.

He gets his ass whooped all the time. He may get about 1 or 2 punches in, but he pretty much gets his ass whooped the entire time until someone else deals with that particular villain. He's cannon fodder, except he has that one shred of luck that keeps him alive.

Is this actually taking off or not?
