Rarden had been politely disengaged from the conversation his captain was holding to begin with, but the appearance of their food utterly destroyed the interest he had held in it. It was fortunate timing, because Fitch's speech on the worth of his harpoon was trying and he wasn't even paying attention. As he looked at the life-giving, blessed chicken delivered before them, he could still only think about how well things were going for them. The only way it could turn down from here was if they were mugged on the way back, or if the port authority ceased their vessel, or if the food was diseased, or. He sighed and contented himself with cutting a piece of the chicken away and sticking it in his mouth. He would have torn into it without hesitation if Louis hadn't beat him to the punch. It was incredibly petty and he knew it, maybe even enjoyed it, but he was out to groom an image of at least mild sophistication, even if only by comparison.

Arisu grabbed the chicken she had ordered, and began eating. She was happy that she had gotten her money back. But, after a conversation with the three other men decided that they weren't the worst. And they carried out of fashion items which made them all the more amusing. As long as they didn't annoy her too mush she wouldn't mind hanging out with them.

Fitch turned to Louis when he explained his goals. "I'm telling you Captain, they're out there..." The boy seemed to get lost in thought, and was starry-eyed for a moment. This moment of imagination was shattered when the smell of chicken filled the air. His eyes turned to the waiter as he arrived with their meals. His shipmates thanked the man, but Fitch was too awestruck by the magnificent smell to even speak. As the chicken was placed before him, he tore into it, shoving a hunk of the delicious meat into his mouth before washing it down with a gulp of ale. "Brilliant!" He said, tearing the unsuspecting chicken to bits.

Louis dug into his food at an unmatched pace, not even slowing down to enjoy the taste of the meal. At Fitch's comment, Louis managed to choke out a simple retort, "Stuff it, Mister Fitch." The words were hard to make out through the delicious meat that Louis was currently ingesting, not even prying his eyes from his meal when he replied to Mister Fitch. Louis cocked a head over to their new friend, Arisu, for a moment, swallowing the food that remained in his mouth as he did so, "I don't know how the three of us could ever repay you, madam." Louis said, pausing momentarily from his feast, as if waiting on a way they could repay the woman

It was true, the owed the lady a certain debt considering her benevolence towards the group. Perhaps they had only been spared a few coin, he'd already forgotten how much of the money Louis had taken from her to pay for the meal. A lapse in attention that could prove fatal in the future, he stopped his train of thought to lament that before continuing. Either way, it would have been smart to use only her money but also incredibly rude. "While the good captain is indeed magnanimous, the limits of what we can do to repay you will certainly equal what we've been given," He said, feeling the need to indicate that limits of 'we don't know how we could ever repay you.' Just in case. Whatever it was she wanted from them, it probably wasn't within their means. If it was cheap passage aboard their vessel, the joke was on her because agree all they must if she wanted to survive it she'd be chipping in somewhere: They were flat broke now, probably, hopefully not, and the ocean was a big place that you needed a lot of provisions to cross. One way or another, everyone on the vessel ended up carrying their weight, or nobody made it.

Outside the Salted Chicken, a town crier came around the street corner, and he, a stubby Dorthan man with red hair and a short beard, announced in his orotund voice to those in the streets, "Hear, citizens! Our leader, President Dylaith Fathorin, is due to speak in Victory Square in roughly..." He paused to pull out his pocket watch, and he looked up to find the attention of all those in the city square. "Thirty minutes! Now, carry on!" The crowd's attention returned to whatever tasks it was in the middle of, while the town crier, Mister Haltor Quintel, continued on his way back to the city hall on the northern side of Wortgott. A some city workers showed as Quintel walked off Victory Square on the north road, and the workers, one handling a podium and four carrying a platform, set the stage before the large statue of their first president, the honored and beloved Aruneia Nymthor, who united the peoples of Himaya and triumphed as their leader through the war, which she resigned at the end of.

Fitch continued stuffing his face with chicken, and his eyes slowly but surely wandered out the window. He began daydreaming as he ate, hearing a conversation about thanks and repaying debts, but it seemed miles away to him at that point. He was off somewhere on the sea, chasing after some great leviathan... and also eating chicken, but that was beside the point. Eventually he was jostled from his daydream by a new sound, the sound of a man shouting. He heard something about a speech, and the President. He turned towards his friends, completely oblivious to whatever they'd been speaking about. "Aye, do you lot think we should go to that?" He motioned towards the window, where the town crier was passing by.

A noise started up outside, the familiar cryings of a town crier. That was good, they had no idea what exactly they'd walked into and starting with the local news made sense to him. Any orientation would have been fine but this one was at least inconspicuous. Rarden looked at the crew, eyes switching between Fitch and Louis and looking for their determination on the issue. Mister Fitch asked the question on everyone's mind, and his shifting eyes continued their routine for a moment before Rarden himself chipped in. "I think it's a good idea. Mingle with the locals, get a feel for what this place is like," he said, looking out the window at the streets of Wortgott. Thirty minutes was not much time to play around with, they would have to decide and pay their way out quickly if they wanted to make it before whatever speech was about to occur started. Whatever the speech was actually about, it was their one good chance at a window into the local culture given the escapade that simply getting food had become. "What do you say, captain?"

Louis shrugged as his crewmmates asked him if they should attend the event, "Might as well." The captain said in between mouth fulls of chicken. Rarden had a good point, but Louis didn't want to stay in the port town any longer than they had to. He was already starting to miss his ship, and wondered privately how it was doing. Thoughts of thieves jumping on board his ship and wrecking it racked his brain. He'd have to trust the port authorities to do their job, and protect his property, "We might learn a thing or two if we listen in. Especially you, Mister Fitch. Gods know you need every bit of information you can get." The captain said, with a smirk.
