David ignored the hand, still a bit shaken and tense. He held his hatchet up, refusing to let his guard down incase this boy would try to somehow attack him. "Put a shirt on, kid." He uttered, grunting. He glanced to his bag about a yard away, then turned to Marcus, speaking with utmost sarcasm. "Thanks for gettin' my bag..."

David made his way to the bag, looking over his shoulder every few seconds to check up on the situation. He had faith that Marcus could handle it if things got messy, but still kept his eye on the stranger just in case. He kneeled beside his pack, zipped it up and threw it over his left shoulder. He slithered his right arm through the strap as he made his way back to Marcus's side. David lowered his hatchet for the first time since he spotted Lee, his expression softened as he did so. He exhaled, shrugging his shoulders. "I'm David." He said, finally calming down. His tone shifted, sounding much warmer and appealing. He looked Lee up and down, then turned to Marcus with a raised eyebrow, "Any bites?"

"Nah.. he looks clean. Well... you know what I mean... Marcus replied, lowering his weapon too. The kid's story made sense. Like everyone in the ruins of the old world, he had just been trying his best to survive.

"That must suck for you, Lee. I'm Marcus. He added, taking Lee's hand and shaking it firmly once, but withdrawing quickly when he realized what the hand was covered in and wiped it on his trousers. "Don't put that shirt back on, but shove it in a bag or something, we'll find somewhere to wash it. Meantime, I've got a spare t-shirt you can wear.

With that, Marcus holstered his revolver (or rather, he safetied it and stuck it down the back of his trousers) and then began rooting around in the bottom of his pack for the spare clothes he kept. Luckily, it looked like the boy was more-or-less the same size as him, so his clothes should fit okay.

Lee stared up at the beast of a man before him, thankful that he had lowered his weapon. He accepted the t shirt, fearing he would be pummeled otherwise. "Thanks, man." He said, as he tried futily to wipe off his chest so to not ruin Marcus' shirt. He put it on over his sticky, bloody body to find it was a bit too big. He walked over and retrieved his soaked t shirt by Marcus' orders and stuffed it in the back pocket of his jeans so that it hung out.

"So where are you two headed?" He asked, trying to break the ice. Marcus seemed like a cool dude, although it seemed a bad idea to irritate him, as he could probably squash Lee like a bug with one arm tied behind his back. David, on the other hand, wasn't big or scary, but he just didn't seem to like Lee. Looking at the two, who were both armed and carried bags full of survival gear, he realized how pitiful he must have looked. Standing there with someone else's baggy t shirt on, unarmed, and covered in guts, he must have looked no more intimidating than a lost puppy. Worried they might leave him behind, he added "I have a bunch of supplies, but it's all on the third floor," nodding his head toward the apartment building. "Floors one and two are crawling with creeps, but maybe we can figure out a way to lure them out here and then sneak in and retrieve some of my gear. I can rig up a noisemaker, maybe use some squirrels or something for bait." Lee offered. He hoped they would go along with his idea so that he could pull his own weight should the three of them stay together.

"Supplies?" David started to warm up to this kid already, considering his own supply situation wasn’t satisfactory. He looked to the apartment building, apparently having two floors infested with walking corpses. David posted his hands on his hips and looked down, a sign he was delving into deep thought.

After a few moments of silent pondering, David looked up. He tried to get a good idea of how many of the undead were sauntering around in the first few floors. He then shifted his gaze to the desolated automobiles littering the road. ”The road’s covered with busted up cars... Figure one of the horns still work?” He started to approach the nearest hunk of metal, then stopped himself and shook his head. David turned to Lee, silently scolding himself in his mind for failing to uphold his caution for even a moment. ”How much supplies are we talkin’ here?” He asked the boy.

"I'd be willing to try something if you've got any food up there. There's only so long you can eat nothing but corned beef and rice crackers before the taste starts to make you sick. Marcus muttered, knowing that the worst part was he'd run out of rice crackers a couple of days ago. The thought of anything else in the way of food was almost worth risking taking on a horde of the dead for.

"Noise might lure them out, but it also might lure others nearby and we could get stuck in there. You sure there isn't a better way? He muttered, peering around and then up at the apartment building. "Tight corridors, numbers don't count for as much. We could try the quiet approach and just take out any that get too close. Riskier in that we'd be getting closer to 'em, but less likely to bring a whole herd wandering our way."

Lee thought about the risk involved. "Oh yes, I have food. Made a supply run to a local supermarket a few days ago, and the back section was chained shut, so no survivors had been able to loot the place. The owner locked himself in with all the food. Not a bad survival strategy, except I guess he didnt realize there was already a creep in there... Maybe a janitor? Anyways, I managed to break the door open and took care of the two creeps. I went there and back a few times, so there's plenty of food up there. I reckon it would last the three of us about a month if we could carry it all," he finished.

Suddenly, a creep found its way out of the front door of the apartment building. It locked it's eyes on Marcus and David. It seemed to have a broken ankle or leg, so it was very slow. Lee wasn't alarmed. However, as it limped closer, he noticed it was not headed for him, the closer target. Instead, it walked right past him toward the other two, and into the blade of David's hatchet. It fell to the ground. Lee, confused, looked down at himself. His new t shirt was already wet with blood and he still smelled like death. Wait... That's it! He realized what had happened, and the expression on the other two's face told him they realized it too.

Leon sighed in relief as Shawn dispatched the walker that had thrown itself onto him, looking for a meal. "Damn shit - you okay? Bit?" Shawn said as Leon got up and brushed brain matter off his shirt. "I don't think so." Leon nervously checked himself for any bites or scratches, but could not find any. He was covered in blood though, but he didn't have any open wounds for it to seep into. He retrieved his gun from the threshold of the bathroom and tucked it back into his holster before following Shawn out of the bedroom and into the next room, expecting the same result as he had just witnessed.

"One in here! I got 'em." Shawn shouted to Leon as the former police officer watched his partner kill the walker with his hatchet. Leon walked into the room. It was much cleaner than the previous one, take the walker blood that now painted the door. He lay on the bed and let Shawn search the room. Leon was tired from fighting off the walker. He grabbed the remote and turned on the TV, but was just met with static on every station he flicked onto. He turned the TV off and dropped the remote by his side before getting up to look out the window. There were about seven walkers just wandering aimlessly on the street. Leon shut the curtains immediately and turned to Shawn.

"You think we're gonna get out of this alive?"

David yanked the blade of his hatchet from the lurker’s skull. He looked to Lee, ”I’ll be damned... walked right past you.” David walked over to the gore-covered boy, inspecting him as he made his way over. David seemed to have complete disregard for personal space as he leaned forward and sniffed, making Lee incredibly uncomfortable. After a few seconds of smelling Lee, David backed up and turned to Marcus.

”He looks like one... smells like one... damn creepers probably can’t tell the difference.” David’s gaze fell upon the walker corpse, brain matter leaking from its open cranium. David looked down at his bloodied hatchet, he adjusted his grip as he stared at it. A "plan" brewed in David's head. If his theory was right, it seemed to be the safest and easiest option, he couldn't think of anything better. He then kneeled beside the body, hacking at its torso. After a few heavy-handed strikes, David set his hatchet beside him and thrust his hands into the stomach of the monster. His face contorted as he grabbed hold of the walker's insides.

"Someone want to do a little experiment?"

Lee grinned. "Hell yeah!" He said, as he knelt down before a dead creep and began ripping open its belly. He took Marcus' shirt off, so not to soil it further. Setting it on a patch of clean pavement, he dove into the creep's insides. Rubbing innards all over his chest and face, he began to get a bit queasy. He simply laughed it off. He'd had his face dunked in a toilet bowl full of turds in high school, and next to that, this was nothing.

Once he was fully covered in slime, Lee stood and looked himself over. Smelling the foul stench of death, he knew their plan would work. Still, life was not to be toyed with. He walked over to a nearby car and began fiddling with the internal wiring. "I figure we shouldn't take any chances. I'll rig this car's alarm to go off when you two are all set to go inside. Most of the creeps in there should come right out to the car, at least for a few moments. Should give us enough time to get in and get what we need without being overwhelmed." He said with his head under the steering wheel. He connected one last pair of wires and stood up, looking at the other two. "You ready?"
