The aliens captured Peter and took the box too. He was held captive for over a year. Eventually elite soldiers of Spartax led by Peter's father came to his rescue. Peter was raised by his father, until he was sixteen. Spartax was a casualty of the Kree-Skrull War. Peter took up his father's mantle as Star-Lord an interplanetary policeman. His time as Star-Lord was not typical. He didn't do things by the book. Eventually he was stripped of his title and imprisoned. While in prison he joined the Ravagers. Eventually he was released and became a pirate, mercenary, and a thief. While looking for a relic to steal he encountered the Fallen One a former herald of Galactus who was destroying the worlds that Galactus would have fed upon in attempt to starve Galactus to death. Peter's sentient ship discovered that the energy generated from destroying planets harmed the Fallen One. He sacrificed his ship and a little lunar colony near the Kree home planet to stop the Fallen One, he turned himself and the Fallen One into the Nova Corps. Peter was sentenced to life in prison the Kyln for each of his 32,000 victims on the colony.
