"Peter Jason Quill, the former Prince of the now destroyed Spartax, the Star-Lord, the mass murderer of a Kree Lunar Colony. Please tell the three billion viewers why in blue blazes you and the other Guardians of the Galaxy were pardoned for every crime you have ever committed in your lives." Peter was not amused by the tone of the reporter's voice but he kept his cool for the moment. "That's easy. Every single one of you would be dead if it wasn't for us. We risked our lives to stop one of the most dangerous advisory this planet has ever seen, Ronan the Accuser. Even your Nova Corps was not up to the task by themselves. It took the combined effort of the entire Nova Corps, the Ravagers, and us. Xandar was going to be destroyed and after it was destroyed he was going to moved on to every other Xandarian colony that he hadn't already destroyed. So I would appreciate a little less tude from you." The reporter was still not satisfied and was determined to prove these criminals belonged in jail or dead.

"How did the Guardians of the Galaxy come to exist?" The reporter used air quotes when she said Guardians of the Galaxy. "First off we never decided on a team name, that was supposed to be some kind of lame insult by Ronan, but for now it's as good as any. We met at the Kyln. Rocket and Groot are bounty hunters, saw the price on my head but there by some rich Kree who lost family on the colony I destroyed, they took me under their protection until they could collect. Gamora was in trouble due to her association with Ronan. Drax who lost his family at the hands of Ronan was about to kill her when I convinced him that it would be better to use Gamora to lure out Ronan. After we that we formed a plan to escape. Rocket can fill you in on how we escaped better than I could. He was the genius behind the plan."

The small creature clad in the orange jumpsuit never stopped glaring at the reporter. He snarled and spit, only taking his eyes away for a moment. He leaned over to his large, wooden friend and spoke in a hushed tone. "Can you believe this shit?" Rocket glanced up at Groot, who apparently was more entertained by a loose piece of bark on his shoulder than what Rocket had to say. "Oh come on, cut that out people are watching."

Groot frowned and lowered his arm. As Rocket turned his attention back to reporter he caught Groot picking at the same piece of bark again. Rocket sighed and rolled his eyes. Why do I even try? His ears twitched as he heard his named mentioned.

He smirked and took a step forward, "It was actually a pretty simple plan. We had to get Quill here out of the prison to get our reward. In order to do it, I needed three things; a guards security band, the battery from the Security Watch Tower, and the confirmation that people like you think they could me in one of your prisons. I've escaped 23 times and if you think you're gonna keep me locked up, you're sadly mista-"

"I am Groot." Groot leaned forward. Rocket looked at him for a moment before a grin began to spread across his face.

He began to snicker, "No I wasn't going to mention the leg."

"I am Groot."

"I know! I know!" Rocket chuckled, turning back to face the reporter. "Hehehe... Oh, where was I? Oh yeah! The plan. Anyway, once I had all the things I needed, it was just a matter of getting into the tower. Which is a lot easier when you have a giant wrecking ball and a master assassin on your side."

Drax looked like he was going to chime in with a comment, but the reporter interrupted him. "So you not only removed an internally-wired device, most likely fatally, but you also started a prison riot that resulted in the deaths of multiple staff members?"

"Hey! That technically wasn't our fault. All we did was put the place on high alert. If the guards couldn't handle it, maybe you should find people who can actually do their job. Am I right?" Rocket chuckled a few times glancing around at the other Guardians, looking to see if anyone else was laughing as well.

"The guards dying while regrettable was actually a good thing for them. Shortly after we escaped Ronan attacked the prison. Those who didn't die earlier were wishing they didn't meet their deaths at Ronan's hands. I was able to get a hold of some of the surveillance footage shortly before coming on to this news show." He said news sarcastically. He started playing the security footage. "See that blob on the floor by Ronan's left foot, that is the Warden or rather whats left of him. Ronan beat him to death over the course of twenty minutes. Every guard who died during our escape died in seconds." He then fast forwarded and paused. "He had his head taken off by the hammer via his rectum. I hadn't heard a man scream like that ever." He took the video down. The reporter started to say something but Peter cut her off. "The rest you know. We defeated Ronan and turned over the Infinity Stone to the Nova Corps saving every Xandarian on the planet and any further colonies Ronan would have wiped out. Would like to know more?"

Rocket smirked as the reporter fumbled for words. "Ungrateful, that's what you are. Instead of complaining about what happened, acknowledge the fact that we saved you and everyone you care about." The reporter looked back and forth between the members of the group, her eyes meeting deadly stares each time. Unfortunately, she had time to recover and continue her argument.

"So you think that one good deed makes up for all your crimes?"

"One good deed? Are you kidding me right now?" Rockets voice was raising as his frustration began to build. They had all risked their lives; Groot had almost died to save the group, Quill had caught the Infinity Stone with his bare hands to stop Ronan. "You listen to me, you-"

But the reporter continued with her rant, speaking over Rocket. "Drax 'the Destroyer': 22 counts of murder, 5 counts of GBH." She paused for a short moment before continuing on. "Rocket: 13 counts of theft, 23 counts of escaping incarceration, 7 counts of mercenary activity, and 15 counts of arson. Along with being the result of illegal experimentation." She glanced up from the paper she was reading from, eying Rocket who was now snarling at her. She continued,"Groot: 3 counts of GBH."

"I am Groot." Groot leaned towards Rocket as he spoke, then glanced around looking slightly proud.

"What do you mean you have less than me? What the hell does that change?"

The reporter continued, "Gamora: Aiding and abetting Ronan the Accuser, including in crimes against the Xanderian government. Finally, we have you Peter Quill. 1 count of fraud, 2 counts of assault/ drunkenness, and 1 count of a... Sex crime: Illegal manipulation of Gramosian Duchess. And these are only the ones you have been caught doing. One good deed does not excuse a lifetime of bad ones."

"You are quite right. One good deed doesn't erase a lifetime of bad ones, but saving billions of lives and risking your own earns you the gratitude of an entire planet and a second chance." Peter puts a hand to his right ear. "I would love to stay and debate with a shrill old 'lady' such as yourself but we have a job to do." He stops paying attention for a second. "Yes. I'll be more than happy to tell her." Peter stands up. "Your show has been cancelled. Something about you causing a riot outside of this broadcast station." Peter brought up news footage from a rival network. "That prison riot never had that many people rioting nor nearly as violently." A rival reporter was gleefully explaining the Xandarians reasons for being so violently. "I am no medical professional but the riot you seemed to have caused seems to have injured several security guards." The news footage shows another security guard being violently attacked and crumpling to the ground. "That one I don't think will ever use his arms nor legs. Also the Nova Corps should be here shortly to take you into protective custody. Nova Denarian Rhomann Dey says you should expect the least comfortable placement." The reporter started screaming about how they ruined her life. By this point the show was no longer being broadcasted live but reruns of a hit Xandarian sitcom were being aired instead. Peter knocked her unconscious. "Damn that felt good. Anyway as for our next job the Xandarians have asked us to look into and stop what they seem to believe are indications that the Skrulls are looking to start another war with the Kree. Xandar barely survived the last one with the vast majority of the Nova Corps killed or severely injured they don't stand a chance. Aggressive negotiations are off the table unless absolutely beyond all shadow of a doubt the only option we have. Since this is the Skrulls and the Kree we are talking about, we should probably bring the biggest guns possible just in case. Rocket I'll leave you in charge of procurring the necessary ordinance while Drax and Gamorra will get the knives and swords to their liking. Denarian Rhomann Dey says he has something for me I'll meet you at the Milano." Peter puts his headphones on and exits stage left.

A smirk slowly so spread across Rockets face. "Big guns? I can do that." It would be nice to use a weapon after having to restrain himself with the now unconscious reporter.

"I am Groot."

"You're with me, where else would you go? You think I can carry all those guns by myself?"

Groot responded with an agitated stare, obviously in response to Rockets sarcasm but Rocket ignored it. He smirked, glancing at Gamora and Drax. "Any weapons you guys want, just in case?" He knew they preferred the personal touch of a melee weapon, but sometimes it was nice to have something to back you up in case things went bad. Some might say it was overcompensation, but Rocket believed the bigger the gun the better. Groot waited for a moment before turning to walk away. Sometimes Rocket wondered about why Groot stayed with him.
It wasn't because of his great personality, and Groot definitely wasn't defenseless. Maybe Groot was just afraid of being alone... Maybe they both were. The sound of his wooden friend snapped him out of his deep thought. Rocket smirked, quickly catching up to Groot.

He turned back and yelled, "Meet ya there!"
