I want to make a note and go on record of how bad things are going to get if Florence takes control of the Imperium. This is me calling that the situation in the Imperium is going to spiral into a death circle. Also losing one of the most powerful magic users ever. Literally powerful enough to keep 100'000 people alive for 10'000 years through a bitter civil war, one who owes her people returning to the land of the living to the Queens and the rest of their gang is probably a bad thing. More so when you consider we'll instead be dealing with the man responsible for nearly destroying the Imperium during their 10'000 year feud.Dunno. Seems like a bad call to me.

Hmm...eh I suppose you are right. Switching my vote back to Imperium. I suppose I have to hope the RNG is kind and doesn't drop Rhinefield or Renalta on us. Because those two dropping would also be bad imo.

To be fair, the design of the challenges is supposed to bring about hard decisions: that is the crux of the dilemma. Take Tuleria, for example. It is highly likely that the region's mage representative is going to die as a result of our non-action. That means all future missions will be significantly more difficult, due to a lack of mage presence in the region, as well as the death of an important mage on par with other magical powerhouses.

Basically, this is Fantasy X-COM. No matter what you do, you'll lose some of your troops and people you can't help will still suffer.

Don't speak to me of X-Com. I know the risks. :P

Absolutely agree with you here. Loss is going to happen, but the scale of that loss can be drastically lessened. In this case losing the support of the Amazons works to our favor. We're comparing some wounded troops and lost territory (to some creature instead of a hostile army) to the complete loss of an important NPC character.

Those of us around the past incarnation are at least mildly aware of the Imperium and Amazonian Empire forming up. The Amazonians losing ground and taking casualty will strengthen their need of Imperium protection. Which would lead to the aforementioned Empire forming, and creating one stronger nation of two that are average.

A coalition between the two nations would also mean that we have one less nation that we will have to cater too, meaning less chance of loss in the future. With another faction forming up along the dead sea, an elimination of one source of problem would be great.

That's how I see it. I don't trust Florence in the slightest, and I think the Empress is keeping him in check.

EDIT:

Yes Maxim either of those dropping would be less than ideal, but rest easy knowing if it's Renalta that's dropped Hanus, Dean and a dozen soldiers are most likely plenty capable of dealing with James.

The amazon mission also provides the unwavering loyalty of a nation, as well as a highly usable greater demon corpse for when the invasion actually happens. To think any mission being abandoned is 'beneficial' is naive.

The kind of unwavering loyalty we lose by not taking the Imperium mission, as well as a highly valuable spell caster ? Absolutely right again Limey. Also you're right it might be naive of me to think abandoning a mission is beneficial, of course less so considering I'm working to ensure that they aren't abandoned so much as they are aided by a greater nation in the form of troops from the Imperium, my fault for not mentioning that.

Eh if I were in your shoes, convince Kadaeux's characters that Imperial whores are the best and have them switch votes :p

Rheinfeld is safe. Brovo hasn't updated the list, but Alphakoka switched his vote to Rheinfeld after the Underdark mission was removed, so it has 4 votes right now.

It's the Imperium, Free Holds, or Renalta that will be abandoned by random draw. I'd like it to be the Free Holds that gets dropped, but who knows, we'll see how it goes.

Limey, how did you bring that back? How did you so thoroughly fail to befriend an NPC and then so thoroughly un-fail?

Missions decided

Confirmed missions.
#1: Kingdom of Liveria (Full).

#2: The Amazons (Full).

#3: Kingdom of Rheinfeld (One open spot).

Which leaves two spots for three missions: The Free Holds, Kingdom of Renalta, and The Imperium. In order to ensure no GM bias, I'm just going to roll some dice here. Renalta, the Imperium, and the Free Holds are going to draw straws essentially. Whoever has the shortest straw, loses out on a spot. Ergo, whoever's number comes up, loses their spot.

1: Renalta.
2: Imperium.
3: Free Holds.
4: Reroll.

*Insert shaking sounds here*

After rolling 4 three times, I finally got a conclusive result.

1.

Well. I guess Kouri's Renalta is taking one for the team.

Final Mission Result
#1: Kingdom of Liveria.

#2: The Amazons.

#3: Kingdom of Rheinfeld.

#4: The Imperium.

#5: The Free Holds.

I will be posting up the new missions next weekend, since it'll be a long weekend for me. That should also give those in the Renalta mission time to reorganize into the other missions.

Good luck, everyone.

Because diplomacy or something.

I'll be honest, it even surprised me.
