THIS RP HAS MOVED TO THE NEW NRP FORUM.
{Accepting!}
{This post subject to change}

~o~0~o~
This world is not our own, but we may be here to stay.

It's an average day in your faction's universe when there's a great flash of sizzling red on the horizon and a boom like the thunder of a thousand cannons. At the edge of a perfect 1-mile wide hexagon, the land ends. It's been replaced with a great freshwater sea. Other islands are visible in the distance. Perhaps land continues beyond your island, but it is not what you're familiar with. Now it's up to you to survive, thrive, or possibly escape in this new world.

Islands hold dark shapes, ruined cities, strangely glowing crystals, forboding castles, massive forests, secret temples, cities towering up to the clouds, creatures of myth and legend, or perhaps even other factions.
This NRP is multiversal faction based. That means that you can select any videogame, book, tv show, movie, other form of media, or real life, grab a mile-wide hex chunk of land (or sea, or space-station), and throw it and its inhabitants into this new world. There are other islands to explore, and other factions to meet, trade with, and possibly war with. I may, as the game continues, start teleporting in even more islands, or throwing "mega events" at you (such as a hurricane, or, oh, I don't know, rearranging the hexes).

Important note: Everybody should start off at an approximately similar level of surprised and mildly screwed. So, sure, you may have star-trek technology, but you might not have power, farmland, or a large amount of people, for example. Or perhaps your magic kingdom lost its connection to the mana-field, and your chief sorcerer's are forced to research the aether fields of this strange new place. I'll mostly trust you to self-limit.

I'm always open to questions, comments, or suggestions!

Just letting you know I'm still interested...I just have yet to come up with a faction/universe to pull from that I'm satisfied with. It's a hard decision :P

(ask if you need clarification on something)
Faction Name: Cravers
Universe: Endless Space , Craver drones
Summary in a Sentence: Highly aggressive Part machine, part-insect spices, their hive has only one goal: to consume.
Description: [history] The Cravers were created by the Virtual Endless to use as a weapon against the Concrete Endless. They would swarm the enemy and use any available resources to feed the hive, replenishing their numbers and strength. Before long, the Virtuals realized the threat this new race posed to the galaxy, so they marooned them onto an isolated planet and then bombed the surface in an attempt to eliminate them. However, the war with the Concrete eliminated the Virtuals before the Virtuals were able to eliminate the Cravers. The insectoid race rebuilt its "civilization" and eventually learned to become a space faring race. The hive, at long last, could begin truly feeding.
[Society] The Cravers live in a colony, a super organism. Somewhat like the ants and bees of Earth, they are biologically divided into different subtypes. The lowest ranks are not capable of independent thought: that is reserved for higher subtypes like the "Bishop" level or the most powerful 'Warlord' level. The two most common type of the craver subtypes are the workers and drones. Workers do all of the manual labor of the colony from production to food gathering. Drones are the basic warriors of the hive standing at 8’2; they are stubborn fighters battling to the death. Due to this they take great amount of death and injures, Craver drone will usually replace parts of their body with robotic parts if they are injury resulting with more veteran drones looking more like a machine than organic. One level above the drones is the warrior this lead squads of drones into combat they start out as drones but they undergo chemical and mechanical augmentation there about a foot taller than the drones they lead. But the processes for turn drone into a warrior can sometimes drive the drone into a berserk state during battle driving them to attack friend and foe alike, the most ruthless among those can become the champion of their warlord. To a certain degree, the Cravers rely on pheromones to communicate. Reproduction is accomplished through not one, but multiple queens. The society has no idea of peace. The concepts of diplomacy, peace, or mercy mean nothing to them. They only know war. The other races are merely prey. Prey that can fight back, but prey nonetheless. As a matter of fact, should the Cravers cease expanding, they will deplete whatever resources they control, and the society might consume itself. Races that are conquered by the Cravers are used as slaves or food stalk. They also have great hate towards the Automatons who have fought them for the past 1500 years.
Technology Level: Craver technology is advance to a certain degree some of their tech was looted from other races or developed by them. The Cravers mange to achieve a level of space travel and spread out among the stars. There weapons are also over the place most drones use kinetic weapons others have energy weapons, and some use melee weapons scavenge from other races
Magical or other Supernatural Powers:

Faction Name: The Flood
Universe: Halo
Summary in a Sentence: You ever have a nightmare where you get eaten by a monster, and then become that monster? No? Well good, I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise.
Description: Far beyond the reaches of the Milky Way Galaxy a threat loomed on the horizon, an army of flesh and bone and bloodshed. Possibly so powerful to have wiped out galaxies in its wake, only the Precursors could stop them. A technology so advanced met heavy resistance, but eventually The Flood were defeated. Later to be revived by the ancestors of man, The Flood were free to wage war against all existence again. The Forerunners were barely capable of creating a tool to destroy them. At the cost of their own lives. But again, the hardy Flood rose again, and they set their eyes on Mankind once more.

They feed on the bodies of their enemies, countless in number and ranks. The Flood consume what opposes them and turn them against their allies, absorbing their biomass into a great consciousness. The Gravemind learns all that its children consume, The Gravemind know all from the past. With its knowledge and connection to its loyal army, the Gravemind is a horror to truly behold. Even without its armies, The Gravemind is more incomprehensibly dangerous than can be easily described. Its mind is so great in power that it can impose its will upon the living in close proximity.

All who oppose The Flood shall be consumed, atonement for the sins of the father.
Technology Level: Varies depending on who they absorb into their ranks.
Other:
Important People:
+Name: The Gravemind
+Role: Quite literally the brain of the Flood.
+Description: A gargantuan amalgam of flesh and bone, ancient in body and mind. Millions of bodies fused together into this hulking growth. It oozes a thick fog with every breath, a toxin so great that if inhaled will convert you to a flood in moments. It is serpentine in form and riddled with appendages formed throughout the ages. It is a rotten festering monstrosity, and even in its disgusting and inhuman form. It is still capable of locomotion if necessary, if roused from its static position it measures incomprehensibly long. Its body once filled all of the halls of the Halo ring it laid in.
+Brief Bio: Though the Spartan thought it defeated, The Gravemind fled to another ring, and eventually to the Ark itself. The Gravemind persevered even through that. The Ark was destroyed but little did the Chief know, Gravemind and some of his legions found themselves in a new and strange world, with remnants of the Ark holding them in place. An ocean surrounded them, they had been transported by some unknown force to this new realm with new possibilities for consumption. Free from the dangers of the Spartan known as John. Though this transportation came at a price, a large portion of The Gravemind was lost in the process. Its body has lost almost 40% of its biomass, and it intends to gather much more to heal its deep wounds.

Hex Location: 4'4
Terrain Type: Flood Corrupted
Important Terrain Features: Metal structures torn and rusted, wrought with the flesh of thousands of fallen foes. It is a sickly orange and brown island 1/3 natural, 1/3 machine, and 1/3 flood. The remnants of the artificial structures of the Ark came with them, along with the terrain of the Halo rings. All corrupted by a horrid flood compound that gradually grows and spreads to fill the spaces.
Important Structures: The Gravemind's Chamber, deep beneath the remnants of the Ark lies the Gravemind's enormous chamber.
Other: In the deeper chambers are hordes of infected and pure Flood roaming and hunting for any remaining survivors. These halls are filled with a pollen that once breathed in damns you to the fate of the Flood hordes. Within moments you become one with the Flood, compelled to fight for The Gravemind.

I was going to express concerns about one of the factions being a nearly unstoppable virus, but then we just got another one on the other side of that central island. So, provided the other players are okay with it, I'll let you guys keep your choices. With, of course, a cautionary few words about god-modding. Beware of god-modding!

If things prove to be a bit unbalanced during the RP proper, I'll have to warp in a few nasty surprises. Or really wonderful ones, depending.

But.

Eemit:
Okay, there's a couple of things:
  • When the ships warped to the world, they would've warped essentially into the middle of an ocean. Given your faction sheet, we can say that that part of the ocean was remarkably shallow, so therefore the ships didn't just outright flood and sink beneath the waves. They might end up stuck hard and fast to the bottom with a good half of the ship or so above water. Obviously still rather devastating for the ships. An alternate idea is that you crashed on some random other planet, and then you were suddenly warped to this one.

  • This isn't a criticism, but keep in mind that you're in an entirely different universe now. So the only Dust available is that that came with you in your hex. If I understand Dust correctly, I think it'd slowly reproduce and spread to neighboring hexes. Slowly. Second consequence: If I understand correctly, the Cravers have some sort of fancy subspace link to the rest of their race. Given how you're in an entirely separate universe they'd lose that connection. Which may be traumatic.

  • You've got a few random grammar and spelling errors (If you're really interested, I could PM you the ones that I noticed). Just be careful - English isn't everyone's first language, obviously, but as long as you're willing to make a clarification should someone ask for one, I'm okay.

LeeRoy:
The only thing that concerns me are the hordes of Flood wandering the halls. I'd caution you against having an entire army at your disposal from the start. Unless, of course, everybody else has an entire army available from the start.

Oh my first move will get rid of about 90% of my army immediately, so that won't be an issue for very long. I've got to think in the long run, so when things get started I'll be at a disadvantage in the beginning.

-The loss of contact with their races is going to affect them in differently for example Borgon would be the least effected while the drones and workers would be the most. Some were even comatose because of it, Borgon hand them thrown out of a window because they were taking up space.
- And yes that what the dust would do that and any other faction can use it if they figure it out how. But it can be deadly for other for example another race from the endless space universe the Harmony the dust is a plague causing them trying to purge it across there galaxy causing a minor apocalypse to the other races.
- Yes please send me those mistakes. I'm will to clarify anything thing asked.

Okay, sounds good. You both are accepted. If nobody else joins by midnight on Monday, I'll start the RP. I think we can do this with two factions; it's not like more can't join mid-game. I may even play, if we need me to.

I was thinking of playing a charactor that would end up joining a existing faction. If this is a problem its cool. To me it could be fun but no worries.

Faction Name: National Space Defense Force Black Dog Squadron (aka the Black Dogs)
Universe: BattleZone (1998)/BattleZone: The Red Odyssey (1998)
Summary in a Sentence: Patriotic American alien hover tanks in space!
Description: The National Space Defense Force (NSDF) was a top secret organization co-founded with NASA that used a substance called Bio-Metal to create hover tanks to wage war (during the old War on Earth) against the Soviet Cosmo Colonist Army (CCA) on various moons and planets throughout the Solar System. Bio-Metal (colloquially referred to as "scrap") was found in a meteor shower in the Bering Strait and was discovered to have memory properties, as well as extraordinary strength - normal projectiles were totally ineffective against it. The NSDF Black Dogs were a special, elite squadron within the NSDF with upgraded vehicles that typically got the toughest missions. In the game, the NSDF and CCA fought on the Moon, Mars, Venus, Io, Europa, Titan and a fictional Uranus moon called Achilles. During that time the CCA experimented with alien relic technology they found, creating powerful saucer-like crafts called Furies that quickly became sentient and revolted against their creators, causing the NSDF and CCA to join forces to defeat them, destroying Achilles in the process. In the Red Odyssey expansion pack, the NSDF Black Dogs had a new foe, the Chinese, who discovered how to open portals to another dimension. The Black Dogs (and the NSDF as a whole) have had these two conflicts successfully wrapped up for a some time when they are dropped into the hex. The NSDF as a whole is a very war-hardened organization, not afraid to unleash deadly force at a moment's notice, but it also does not attack without reason and/or provocation. The entire "nation" community in the hex is simply the soldiers (usually tank pilots) when they are not out fighting.
Technology Level: Cold War ET-assisted sci-fi
Magical or other Supernatural Powers: use of and reliance on the alien Bio-Metal material
Other: An outpost named Eagle's Nest One is the area transported to the hex. Eagle's Nest One starred in and was the namesake of BattleZone's second mission, and was an important outpost on Earth's moon (Luna). In the universe the hex occupies, it has since flourished into a huge, sprawling base occupied by the Black Dogs and used as the center of all NSDF Lunar operations (so although the official faction is the Black Dogs for the sake of recognizability in the Hex, both Black Dog and non-Black Dog NSDF divisions occupy the base.
Important People:
+Name: General Collins
+Role: Leader
+Description: General Collins is the hardworking commander of all NSDF forces throughout the original game and was stationed in Eagle's Nest One when the warp to the hex occurred.
+Brief Bio: n/a

Hex Location: 5,5
Terrain Type: Hilly Cratered Plains (Lunar)
Important Terrain Features: artificial roads/platforms underneath much of the base (like so), large craters surrounding the base (there are two (north and south) main entrances into the base) that hide the base from external view
Important Structures: Command - where everything for the base and all Lunar operations are conducted. Launch Pad (no image) - where vehicles are launched into orbit to be transferred to another moon/planet.
Other: The base contains multiple Recyclers (the most valuable unit in the game, as it is essential to building any other units), Mobile Unit Factories (advanced offensive unit production), Armories (weapon deployment), and Constructors (base building). These are the four capital units in the game. There are also many Gun Towers, Cafeterias, Barracks, Supplies, Hangars, and so on. In short, the base is fully prepared to defend against or attack anything, but due to reliance on bio-metal the outpost is almost nonfunctional due to the severe lack of it on the hexes.

Driving Park - You're accepted! I may, however, decide to limit your base's capabilities/units, depending on how the RP goes - I'm simply concerned about starting everyone off on a roughly equal footing. I'm working on an IC initial post, so expect this RP to start up shortly.

Weiss - I hadn't thought of single-character wanderers. I might let them in; that's neat.

Faction Name: Da Black ‘Ead Warband of Da Blood Axes Klan
Universe: Warhammer 40,000

Summary in a Sentence: Eight foot tall green monsters that like to shoot you, stab you, and blow you up.

Description: The Blood Axes are an Ork tribe or "klan" that has been known to work alongside human forces on occasion. The Blood Axes are held by the other Ork clans to be a bunch of untrustworthy gits. They trade openly with non-Orks, parley with the foe and will even consider retreating from battle if faced with insurmountable odds. Perhaps once intended to make the Blood Axes natural leaders, these qualities have instead earned them a reputation among other Greenskins as little more than treacherous scumbags.

Technology Level: Ork technology appears ramshackle and slapped-together (it often is), but is as potent as any weapons used by other races. Ork technology (or "teknologee") is characterised by a constant stream of poorly thought-out experimentation and attempts to constantly outdo the competition to build the biggest gun, the largest gargant (a huge land-based walker), or the fastest buggy, and also mainly by the fact that in many cases the only reason it works at all is because of the Orks' minor psychic powers. This means that if enough Orks think it will work, it usually will.

If put to a human scale, Ork technology would be considered rather advanced in areas (Such as walkers), while in others is extremely primitive (Such as the use of axes in combat.)

Magical or other Supernatural Powers:
In short, the Ork’s ‘magic’ is what make their weapons and vehicles operate.

Other: Ork reproduction system: Orks release fungal spores, which grow into a plant-like womb underground that nourishes the bodies of the various Orkoid species. This is the entire basis of the Orkoid ecosystem, producing first Squigs, then Snotlings who cultivate the Squigs and the fungus they feed on, then Gretchin to build the settlements, and finally the Orks themselves. This means the Orks, wherever they go, will have an abundance of food, slaves and other resources, a moving Orkoid ecosystem that supports them as they go on their Waaaghs! Because of this, there are no Ork females. All Orks refer to themselves as males.
Important People:

+Name: Warboss Sharptoof
+Role: Da Leader
+Description: The Warboss is eleven feet tall three inches. His massive dark green body is nothing but muscle. To protect himself from incoming fire, the Warboss wears a suit of thrown together metal and animal hide armor. He’s da biggest, n’ da baddest Ork ya ever saw.
+Brief Bio: Warboss Sharptoof wasn’t always the warboss of the Black ‘Eads. Back in the earlier years of the warband, they were led by Warboss Redguts, and Sharptoof was nuthin’ but a nob (Ork speak for a noblemen) back ‘den. But the old Warboss was a coward, who’s was always runnin’ from a good n’ propah fight. So Sharptoof did what any good nob would do, and challenged the Warboss to a duel to the death. Sharptoof won, and took command of the Black ‘Ead Warband.

+Name: Mekboy Big Brainz
+Role: Mechanic/ Engineer
+Description: Mekboy Big Brainz isn’t da biggest Ork, only bein’ seven feet tall and havin’ a bit too much fat on ‘is belly. But Big Brainz is the smartest Ork in the Warband, comin’ up with the best new ideas for biggah and bettah gunz n’ things.
+Brief Bio: Mekboy Big Brainz has been around since before Warboss Sharptoof. He’s seen new Warbosses come and go all the time. Some Orks say the only reason Big Brainz is still alive is because he’s a coward, who never charges and fights wiff his fists like a propah Ork. But Big Brainz has to remind the pups ‘dat the Blood Axes ain’t like da other klans. The Blood Axes are known fer ‘dere smarts, and Big Brainz is a propah Blood Axe Orkoid.

Hex Location: 3.6
Terrain Type: Jungle
Important Terrain Features: A large mountain in the direct center of the island; hollowed out and used as a command center.
Important Structures: Large wooden structures built around the mountain. The town is surrounded by wooden walls with towers at each corner.

Maxxorlord: Accepted! Congrats for being the first player not on the central island, by the way.

Weiss Schnee (pt. 2): Go ahead and make a character sheet, let's try it out.

Make sure to include how they got into this patchwork world in the backstory. Likely they were teleported in a mini-hex event to an existing island, but I might be open to other ideas.

IC is up! Marvelous!
