Memories of Tomorrow starts mere days prior to the Great War. The story is inspired by various missions within the Fallout Universe as well as fiction by Glukhovsky (Metro 2033), Philip K. Dick (Bladerunner), and Walking Dead. You will not need a deep knowledge of the Fallout series, but it having such isn't a bad thing either. I imagine this game exploring the scientific possibilities within this universe as well. While we start prior to the Great War, we will have the chance to explore the post-apocalyptic world. I don't want to spoil anything though! If you're looking for a character driven, alternate history, science fiction, post-apocalyptic game with a oodles of mystery and action, this is for you!

Fear and strife define the day. American soldiers return from Anchorage not to rest, but to quell the food riots. Animated voices on the radio seem blissfully unaware of the civilians being shot down in the streets. All the while there is an underlying sense that everything you know just might disappear in one blinding flash. But you carry on. You wake up, you go to work. You figure things will work out, whether people outside calm down or you find yourself in one of VaultTec's underground resorts while things settle down. At the end of the day it's all just life. If you know anything, it's that life never changes.
There is no ideal character in background or attitude. This is a world at the edge of nuclear war and socioeconomic disaster -- what's worse, most people don't realize it. Whether you're a grocery clerk, an American soldier, or even a RobCo Engineer, this is a world that will come for you. The more diverse and thought out the character the better. The story I have in mind works with wild cards just fine, so be imaginative and have fun.
I would like to see four devoted players before I put together a full-bodied OOC. We will work around canon and set defined conclusions like game endings as needed, but in most cases such facts would be more rumour to the characters anyway. You can expect to see organizations from the games appearing in some form too. I'm open to suggestion for this as well, though keep in mind, we are starting in 2077 and will move forward later. The beauty of this genre is that despite who you are in the beginning, when society crumbles and challenges arise you may well find yourself an entirely new person. You may well dislike this person too. Again, there is so much room to play in all of this that all we need are some dedicated players! Ideally I'd like to see people who can post once a week, be somewhat active in OOC, and generally just love making a story.
Setting: The game will span from the Northernwest Oregon to Southwest Washington in what Fallout dubs the Northwest Commonwealth. We will focus on the communities around Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington, which border one another on the state-line, separated only by the Columbia River. Portland will provide the unique claustrophobia only a dilapidated, maze-like ruin of a city can provide. We will find secrets buried amongst the rubble here as well as some old world treasures. Meanwhile, the sprawling suburbia to the north, Vancouver, will go from hundreds of cookie-cutter homes to fragmented grasslands and forestry returning, if not taking over, the land. In reality you can find several headquarters to tech companies here, so expect this to play into the world (RobCo?). And because we are in the Pacific Northwest you can expect rain and lots of it! Expect a map.
Challenges: Characters can start as they please, who they please in 2077. Who you are on the eve of the Great War is very freeing and entirely within your control. When it comes to the post-apocalyptic side of the game everyone will experience this sense of youth-like ignorance. Like every Fallout game, we will fall into something much bigger than ourselves and either day or adapt as figure things out. Challenges will arise through organizations, beasts, and even extreme environments. Your actions will build reputation though just like in New Vegas, so be mindful! Oh, and best of all, the game is in your hands. Should you and the others stumble upon some great treasure and you just so happen to have a grenade launcher and a sinister smirk then hoo-hah (insta-player kills obviously a no-no).
Skills: SPECIAL will help guide us all in playing honest characters. When you create a character sheet you will divvy out a specific number of points through SPECIAL that will give everyone a sense on what type of character they're looking at. Along the way people will grow and change, so don't feel cemented. Just know that if you place all your points toward Perception, Agility, and Luck, but are also our "strong person" of the group, somebody's calling brahmin-shit. As we play and succeed along the way players will also receive rewards in the way of special weapons based on the demonstrated skills or new-found abilities (for example, they stumble upon some nearly pristine glasses and, oh look, better Perception!). The point is to have fun and to reward our fellow players here.
