I updated the local map to include other Othean cities/locations you can flee to. And I updated the big map, warning it is even bigger now. Like, twice the size.@Sep, if you want to work with Wilson on his steampunk kingdom in the south east that'd be good.@Wilson, but they couldn't fly then.

Of course they wouldn't fly!
Unless they had a flying Relic.
Airships would be too advanced
Gliders... maybe. It'd be more realistic since the mountain cities over-looking the valley might want to give people the option of going down to the capital city in a jiffy, or perhaps just to go land at any of the scenic spots. With a steam-punk-y technology, there could be fans/steam vents that would allow a glider to get a boost into the air. #VideoGameStyle

It would be a while before we could do shit as well Wilson. As it would take a while for us to sort out tech and other people could pitch in as well. I'll let you work out the basics I only really want to help with tech.

So just preliminary thoughts and such, I'm thinking quantum telecommunications and gravitic neutron particle beam arrays. That should put a stop to the Kalesians.

You know why full plate armor fell out of fashion? Why the traditional knight faded rapidly from common occupation? Plate armor is expensive. It has to be fitted to the user. Sure, loaner plate is possible, but it is not as effective. Then along comes some fellow who builds up a company of crossbowmen in a few months. Suddenly all those expensive plate armors are useless, as crossbow bolts punch straight through all that expensive armoring.

By the way, on those relic guardsmen of yours... Are they on foot? or are they mounted troops?

Yeah, I think we should also throw in some T.I.E Fighters, maybe a Ha'tak mothership.

Couple of teleportation arrays.

@Sep, and of course you can't go wrong with some Imperium Vortex Torpedoes.

Yes, they are.

ooh... SHINEY!

But its either those shiny knights or crossbows. Not both. Not if you intend for them to be useful as anything other than target practice. There's a reason we opposed including crossbows. At least as anything other than an obscure weapon used by eccentrics. If there are crossbow companies in the armies, there's no point in having those lovely shiny knights.

Damn, once my knights are threatened the hammer comes down.

Nay on the crossbows...despite the fact they're cool as well.

Also if they are on foot I would like to point out the major weakness that is the fact they can be easily neutered by enemy combatants.

those suits of armor are designed for horseback. They don't have armoring between the legs. If you're up on a horse, you don't need armor plating there. But if you're not on a horse (or similar animal) with those suits, you can be sure that the opposition will aim right between the legs.

Look at it, there is a massive hole in the groin area (It is designed for horseback). I mean it may not kill you straight away but someone gets a sword in there even to just cut you the pains going to throw you out of the picture. Then you got blood loss or infection to deal with, or other hits.

I know these things; why are you telling me? Crossbows are damn useful in that regard.
EDIT - sorry, if you weren't directing it at me, no worries; I thought the earlier conversation about xbows was getting hot.

The Guard are footsoldiers, but the officers occasionally ride on horseback. They leave the job of cavalry to the main army and knights.

So just because weapon X is good against unit Y, we're getting rid of it?
