We'd love to have you! The post-nuclear comment was made in regards jimi's novel, not the RP, but a post-nuclear zombie RP does sound pretty badass. I think it'd be too much to focus on and we should focus on the zombie part for now, though.

The skill set idea would make the RP much deeper but I'm wondering how it'd affect accessibility. I'd rather not make things too complicated; it's looking like this RP will already be quite complex judging by how many different characters there are and how many different storylines will be running concurrently. I think we could go for a simpler version by asking writers to RP their characters accurately... if you're rp'ing a character who weighs 120 lbs, it's probably best not to wield a heavy weapon.

If you were to get injured bad enough then yes, the injury would stick with you. I'm foreseeing things like amputations in this RP and that would definitely affect your character in future sequences. If you break your arm, you're not gonna be able to use that arm at all until later on. Complications with the injury would be down to you and how you'd wish to develop your character :)

Can't wait to see your character sheet, I better get started on mine!

Alright great! Thank you for the clarifications.

Also, I wish both you, and jimi luck with your books. I'm still fiddling over my first chapters. Something I've learned, don't be afraid to mess up, don't think too much on it either, that'll hinder the creative process. Editing and revising is something you can do after said chapter is finished. It'll make you feel slightly better about the work anyways. Though, I wouldn't take that advice to close to heart though, as I am still revising my own chapters. :D

Awesome, I'm liking the enthusiasm here.

I'll get to making my group, don't normally do more than one character, but I think I'll give it ago. If it becomes too cumbersome, I can always have them killed off in a jiffy and keep my favourite.

Monster: That advice is similar to what I tell other aspiring authors but, like many other writers, I find it hard to heed my own advice! I agree wholeheartedly, though. It's better to write than to spend months thinking about what you're going to write and not doing it because you'll read it and hate it.

SyrianHamster: Sounds like a win-win situation! Most of the RPs I've been in never have deaths. I think people are going to create some amazing, lovable characters and then kill them off... it'll be devastating but fantastic.

Does anyone have suggestions for the name of this RP? Should it be original or should we just call it The Walking Dead: Chicago? I'll be the first to say that that title would be extremely generic but I think it'd relay the content and nature of the RP to anyone who reads those four words. It'd probably help us recruit more members and make the RP much deeper. I'll keep the OOC story outline the same as the one I did in the OP so that we're not bogged down in canon.

If it's set in the Walking Dead universe, then sure. If not, then you might get growled at for false advertising by any potential nerd kings.

I'd say go for something original, but still keep the obvious undertones... for example, "Dead Town Chicago", or "Dead Flesh: Chicago", or "Zombie Apocalypse: Chicago", or "Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse: Chicago"... yeah looking at them, they're not great.

You're probably right, Walking Dead universe or no, it'll send a clear message.

EDIT: Here's my pre-made CS's. Don't expect you to go over them, but could you please check their weapons and tell me if I'm being too Call of Duty?

Once I post the OOC topic, I'll add your profiles under the character list as they're approved. The weapons are fine. I'm going for small guns for my characters but I don't see a reason why your characters wouldn't be able to scavenge powerful guns like an M4 Carbine. The rule for no overpowered weapons is to deter godmodders but I can tell you're gonna play fair since you're even listing the amount of ammo you have. Good show!

I'm gonna take the risk and call it The Walking Dead: Chicago, nerd kings be damned. This could definitely be a part of the franchise, I don't think there's anything contradictory.

Good point, I should have mentioned that. I'll edit the previous post and mention it here too: if you want to omit your character's history and personality and develop it during the course of the RP, that's totally fine. And yes, 3-4 characters would be OK. I'm guessing that with the presence of writers RP'ing multiple characters, there are gonna be a lot of deaths in this RP! Excellent... Also, you're writing a post apocalyptic novel? We might be twins, that's what I'm doing! OK, I'm to. I can't get myself to start and I thought this RP might be a good idea to create something valuable and snap me out of my rut. What kind of post-apocalypse, by the way? I'm partial to the post-nuclear type.

Well, its going to be the typical, zombie apocalypse type of story, but there's going to be some very deep storyline with a lot of plot twists and crazy shit and whatnot. I'm planning on getting it published hopefully sometime next year.

Name: Dan 'Metro' MacDuff

Age: 23

Height: 6'

Weight: 79 kg

Appearance:

History: Dan grew up in a very military home. For the past five generations his forefathers have served with distinguish in both the Black Watch Regiment of Scotland and the US 16th Infantry Division. Diagnosed with asthma at a young age, and therefore unable to join the armed forces, Dan's father treated him like an outcast and was cold and formal with him. Growing up on war films to try and make up for his missed opportunities, Dan desperately wanted that sense of comradeship seen in the movies, that sense of brotherhood. At 16 he joined the closest thing to it - a paintballing group who encouraged teamwork and an almost military precision, training and combat procedures. Dan flourished. He recieved his nickname 'metro' because during a week long battle he had helped organise in the middle of Massachusetts with five other paintballing groups, he constructed a trench system which went almost undetected until an enemy pissed into the trench accidentally in the night and a teammate cried out in horror, thus bearing him the name 'Metro', for 'metro tunnel system'. His father still disapproved, but was happy(-ish) to see that Dan was eager to try something similar despite his condition. Dan rose the ranks of the Shadow Fury Clan (a name which Dan would relentlessly petition against), and was 2IC at the time of the Outbreak. The SFC survived the initial tragedy, but as it was revealed later, bites and scratches carry the infection, as the force soon realised when an undead ravaged nearly 40% of the group by turning whilst in the middle of the herd and causing pure carnage. The group continued to be picked away until 4 people remained - Dan, Mike, Jim, and Cate. Cate was Dan's girlfriend at the time, but she shot herself through the temple when watching Mike gorge on Jim's intestines like spaghetti. Dan was all alone.

Personality: Normally quite shy, watchful, but can interject if he so pleases. Bright and practical, with a clear goal of trying to save everyone.

Weapon:

How is this? I always feel self-conscious making CS', mine are ugly things because I'm too lazy to make them pretty.

Okay, quick question.. do you want us to post our characters here - in interest check - or is there going to be an OOC soon. Seems like OOC would be a more appropriate place for character stats.. jus saying (-__-)
