"We have everything you need. Food, shelter, water, people... A society. You can live in a community free from the infected. A safe haven where you can feel comfortable, knowing that you're surrounded with friends. What is there for you out there? You live in a land overtaken by abominations and murderers, thieves and rapists.

Your instincts are likely telling you that this is too good to be true. Under normal circumstances, you could hardly be blamed for heeding that frightened little voice inside your head. After all, it's kept you alive for this long. All I can say is that we need you as much as you need us. We can't rebuild America without your help and that's why this signal goes out to all of you survivors struggling 24/7 just so that you can take another breath. Is venturing into downtown Chicago risky? Of course it is. But what else are you going to do? Are you going to continue running, simply to exist? Or are you going to take hold of the only opportunity that will allow you to live again?

America begins anew at the Black Mountain, the tallest building in Chicago. In better times, it was known as the Sears Tower. Find us there and we'll make sure you never suffer again. What other choice do you have?"

Set a full year after the outbreak of a flesh-eating virus, this RP takes place in Chicago and its surrounding areas. The population of America has been decimated and only a few survivors remain. The odds are seemingly insurmountable as survivors must deal with hordes of the infected and, worst of all, other survivors who have gone mad in a world with no order.

---

Your decisions will shape the world around you. Will you submit to survival of the fittest, or will you help your fellow survivors to find safety? Will you join a community or will you form your own gang of raiders? The choices are limitless.

This RP will always remain open to new members as having several characters will make things much more interesting and will also avoid the pitfall of having ONE storyline. With multiple RP'ers, we will run a system where characters can participate in different scenarios. Instead of running one scenario, we can run multiple scenarios concurrently, allowing you to play true to your character instead of forcing him/her into scenarios where he/she doesn't fit.

Anyone interested?

Sweet, hopefully we get more potential members soon! This RP was created as a result of the utter disappointment I've had with zombie video games as of late. It would be wonderful to enact a non-goofy zombie story that focuses more on the survivors of the world than the zombies themselves.

Interested.

I have yet to have played in a proper zombie RP, so I have high expectations.

I GMed a proper zombie RP once on the old Guild, and it was marvelous. I haven't had an experience quite like that in the zombie genre since then, and this looks promising,

I'm glad you see potential in it considering the very short radio broadcast! I usually write short stories to set the scene but I felt this was all that was needed. It provides the world flexibility and allows us to create together whilst keeping the RP a little mysterious. Can't wait to start, should have the topic up soon so that we can all start posting profiles.

If it's a year after the outbreak, and the zombies spread fast enough to cause an apocalypse, how are there still enough non-decayed zombies to cause problems?

You assume right, BB! I think fast zombies are really interesting but survival just wouldn't be feasible. If they had speed on top of their vast numbers, they'd be able to catch you too easily in my opinion. They're not runners but they won't be too slow either. Their max speed would be equivalent to that of a slow jog but since there's so many of them, they're still very dangerous.

As for the question above, are you actually being serious? If so: suspend your disbelief. There are innumerable scientific reasons that zombies either cannot exist or would only last a few weeks before succumbing to extraneous factors such as putrefaction caused by warmer climates, muscular rigidity from colder climates, acclimated damage left unhealed due to the lack of an adequately functioning central nervous system and many, many more...

... but that wouldn't make for a very interesting RP.

Great, glad to have someone experienced on board considering this is my first time participating in this genre! To whoever is interested, you should start working on your profiles as the OOC/IC topic will be up soon. If you need a template, try this:

Name:

Age:

Height:

Weight:

Appearance:

History: (You can choose to leave this blank if you'd like to reveal the history during the rp. A little bit of information would be nice but if you want to keep things totally enigmatic, you may leave this section completely empty)

Personality: (Same as the above)

Weapon: (don't go too crazy over here please, best we not have super soldiers carrying around flamethrowers)

You can have up to 4 characters if you wish to play multiple characters.

I already have a character prepared for this.. he's actually the main character for a post-apocalyptic novel I'm currently writing. But - if its cool with you - im going to leave his history and personality out of the CS & reveal them later on (to add potential future content to the story - as well as to give other characters something to engage him in conversation with).

Actually, I forgot to mention, I may possibly be playing up to 3-4 characters, if that's okay. I have a few good ones lined up for this.

Good point, I should have mentioned that. I'll edit the previous post and mention it here too: if you want to omit your character's history and personality and develop it during the course of the RP, that's totally fine.

And yes, 3-4 characters would be OK. I'm guessing that with the presence of writers RP'ing multiple characters, there are gonna be a lot of deaths in this RP! Excellent...

Also, you're writing a post apocalyptic novel? We might be twins, that's what I'm doing! OK, I'm trying to. I can't get myself to start and I thought this RP might be a good idea to create something valuable and snap me out of my rut. What kind of post-apocalypse, by the way? I'm partial to the post-nuclear type.

This is really intriguing. I haven't really indulged in a zombie rp yet, though on the old guild I loved to. So, in other words, I am interested, and would love to join the story.

As for whether or not to go with the post-nuclear apocalypse, that sounds really cool. And it leaves way for some possible political tension- if any type of government still remains at this point.

I like the idea of certain skills based on character sets. That would add an extra layer of importance to each decision. It would make the roleplayer place more attention to their characters skill-set.

Okay, that seems to be it for now. If you wouldn't mind my joining, I'll start on my character sheet!

EDIT: Something just popped into my head, figured I'd ask about it. If you get injured bad enough, will the injury stick with you? Can it affect you in later sequences?
(Example: "Timmy" breaks his arm in a fall, it doesn't heal right, he can't rely on that arm strength-wise anymore)
