@Jay: I've seen someone use a Silver Dragon Deck before. They mostly used Maiden with Blue Eyes or whatever and...that little thing is overpowered for a Level 1...

Not really thinking of any clever new archetypes though; bracing myself for tax returns coming within the next few days then I may or may not be gone for a few days to over-immerse myself in Pokemon Y.

Ian and Bell have infiltrated the duel of dragons. And yeah, even if Valin were to lose the duel, Ian would beat the crap out of the cheating bastard.

Hahahaha! Everyone thinks he cheats. No, I've got a perfect setup for the rest of this Duel for him that's going to surprise the pants right off of you. All with reasonable explanation behind why he's suddenly playing defensive: He gets assigned to the most vile place in New Domino, familiar with the way people act around there, and simply acts on what he knows: people give crap for the law there, and therefore, people will use illegal cards. For that reason, Valin came up with EVERYTHING he had to counter that kind of bull crap on his ride out there.

He may be taking a beating now, but you'll see what happens, and you won't believe it. It looks like he's about to lose this turn; he won't. It looks like his loss is inevitable; it isn't. He's the King of Games for a purpose, and that, he will flaunt before everyone's faces given a couple of turns down the road. I'll be editing the last bit of that Duel and jumping to Madison for my next post, whenever I decide to do that.

That, and Valin's a lot more naturally precautionary than you'd think. More like Kite than Jack or Zane or Kaiba. Basically he can stop everything, warp everything, and/or destroy everything.

So before I decide to take the dive, I was wondering- How are duels structured? Or at least, how do you guys plan on writing them.

Oh okay. I was more wondering about like, the duels in IC are handled text wise like keeping stats on-screen and updated after every turn, but I guess that depends on the person.

Anyways one more question, what about the Synchro bosses used by people such as Yusei and the gang, or Xyz monsters such as Numbers? I know I didn't see anything in the OP about it, so unless I missed it are they free game? Or is it just best to avoid so time continuum doesn't get fucked.

This one I know for a fact: Rethel said that if you plan to use them, you'll need a good excuse as to how you got it seeing as how those cards are one-of-a-kind.

You could also make your own Xyz, so yeah. But Signer Dragons and Numbers Monsters need a good explanation (Your guy would probably be from Heartland if he had a Numbers, but even then, you'd likely have to wrestle them out of the hands of Yuma, Kite, and Shark.)

As far as Duels work, if it's against an NPC, everything's up to you. If against another player, it'd be collaborated (otherwise you'd have to do turn-by-turn posts, which would get obnoxious to the rest of us). I'm working on getting a sync.in room for everyone for that, but it seems to be unable to make new sync notes at the moment (and I can't find my old one). Until then, try PMing or Google Docs, or maybe even a Mibbit chat if that works until sync.in starts working again if you have to Collab Duel.

@Jay: I wish everyone nowadays were inferior to Kaiba, but the only character from the original series who can stand up to all the others of the newer series is Yami, as he was able to summon all 3 Egyptian God Cards in 2 turns, as all the other characters were yet using mechanics that ended up outdated by the more modern Dueling styles and mechanics. It's all too easy to Synchro or Xyz Summon on the first turn, even multiple times if you have the right cards, whereas pulling out even one Blue-Eyes is a bit conditional, let alone getting your hands on all three at once. Not that it's impossible. Just unlikely. Poor Kaiba's outdated. That and if you got rid of all of his illegal cards, he wouldn't even hold half a Deck. Of course, same could be said for Yami, I guess.
