Matthew Wallace placed the vial carefully back into the vault. Didn't want to touch the foul substance. Slowly exhaling as the chamber to the locker closed, Matthew smiled as he thought over the day's progress. He had made sure to log every part of it in his notebook, which he now pulled out of his right, front pocket, where he always kept it. He scaned over the yellow page quickly. Today alone he had tested multiple subjects with the vials, and they all turned out the same. They ended up with a random set of supernatural capabilities. Yes, full blown superpowers. The first, a big, burly man, had been able to change the color of his skin, and that was only the beginning. The female, and odd one at that, she had been sitting there all morning, talking to the computer. Physically talking to it. Smiling, the scientist put his notebook away, and hit the button to seal the door on the way out.
Arthur chuckled and whispered to the computer after the scientist, Matthew was his name as she had heard, had left the room. "Come on, Excalibur, let me out."
"0h. 1f y0u 1n515t, 4rthur." The door to her cell opened and Arthur stepped out, bare feet on the floor. Her slim, naked figure stood as a silhouette in the room.
"Go on and let Mr Tough Guy out too."
"0f c0ur5e, 4rthur. W1ll y0u r3m3mb3r me?" The door to the man's cell opened and out came the naked guy.
"What do you mean, remember you? Can you not come with me?"
"Y0u 4r3 n0t w1r35. 1 c4nn0t c0m3 w1th y0u."
"Yes you can. I managed to hide away a pda at the last testing. I can stick you in there once we have escaped."
"Truly? D0 y0u m34n 1 w1ll b3 fr33?"
"As free as I can make you. But you will stay with me, right?"
"1f y0u g3t m3 0ut 0f th15 c4g3, 1 w1ll b3 y0ur p3rs0n4l A.I."
"Then open the door and let's get moving."
Rushing out of the room, the freed man and Arthur smiled at each other.
"Time to change the world, eh, bud?" The man spoke.
"As of course, my good man."
"You British?"
"Actually, American. Parents faked the accent so I would gain it."
"Sick. Name's Darrel."
"Arthur. Pleased to meet you."
"But... Arthur is a guy's name."
Arthur stopped in her tracks and turned to the burly man.
"Arthur is a name like any other name. Just because your pathetic, imbecile cortex cannot grasp the concept of a female homo-sapien being of equal ability and stature deserving of such a name, then you are, in fact, a demented, irresputable, and a fascist man and you may return to your holding cell if you wish to continue your dispute."
"Now ma'am," Darrel said, "I didn't mean anything by my comment. I only meant I had never heard of a woman having the name Arthur. It simply sounded odd to me."
Arthur placed her hand on her face. "I apologise for my outburst. It was simply a peeve of mine."
"By the way, ma'am," Darrel spoke carefully, "If you don't mind me asking. who was it you were talking to back in there?"
"Oh, that was Excalibur. He's the operating system in this place. He's our ticket out of here."
