"So, uh... How do we start?" A voice came from one of the five people at the rather large table. There would have been six if the last member of the team wasn't currently talking to the daughter that he had lost so many years ago. The one who spoke obviously didn't truly understand what was going on, but she went along with in anyways in hopes of learning what to do as they went along. She had never played Bunkers and Badasses before, and when a variation of the game was brought up by the youngest of the team, there wasn't really anything she could say buy yes. Maya the Siren was completely confused.
"Don't know. Gaige was the one who set this all up." The leader of the group turned to the woman named Gaige with an expecting look, wanting for her to tell him and the rest of them how this was all going to work out.
Gaige simply smiled at them, her robotic left arm on the table while the other hung at her side. She smirked to her group and pulled out an ECHO recording device with her right hand. The young woman had put a lot of work and planning into this 'game' and she hoped that it would be able to work out. "While you guys were all lounging around wondering what to do next, me and Deathtrap have been working on something." She started out, getting the full attention of everyone in the room if she hadn't gotten it already.
"You all know that we're like gods now, and there really isn't any reason to keep hunting vaults. There's no challenge, it's no fun." She paused as if trying to describe a product to someone. "SO! I found one of the locations of a vault and decided to do something different! The vault is on Planet Metis, and me and DT put up some advertisements to catch the eyes of certain aspiring vault hunters. From what I've been able to gather, just about all of the hunters I wanted to head to that planet are either there or on their way."
Suddenly, a growl came from one of the Vault hunters who hadn't spoken yet, and the man let out a roar. "THIS ISN'T LIKE BUNKERS AND BADASSSES! THERE ARE NO SALVADWARVES!"
"Hold on, big guy, I'm getting to that." Gaige attempted to calm Salvador down. "Since these are actual people, we can't control them like in the game. All we can do if give them pushes in the right direction. It a bit more interesting than B&B, since the 'characters' can disregard our advice and go their own way. We don't be directly speaking to them, but leaving little hints, clues, weapons, recordings, things like that to push them in the right direction. Now!" He said happily as she put out four player cards on the table, all with each of the four Vault Hunters who were either on the planet or making their way there. Who are you guys calling? I'll take Darren. 'Girl like me sure needs a man like him." She said, the other in her group looking at her oddly before looking at the cards. She had a thing for partially mechanical men, and she would have chosen the Riot Shield Guy if more than just his brain was still human.
"I'll take Grace. Having a Siren will be pretty easy for me." Maya spoke up as she took the card with Grace's profile it. Her eyes scanned the piece of paper as she learned more about one of the six Sirens in the universe. Maya was actually surprised to hear that commandant Steele and Angel were also Sirens like Lilith and herself. Now she knew about five Sirens who most likely existed at the same time, and the knowledge was startling to her. Knowing five out of the six sirens in the entire universe was really something, and she wondered where the others could be now that Angel and Steele were dead.
"Oh! I want the robot man!" Salvador said as he reached for the card, grabbing it and skimming over the card to find out how cool his chosen 'character' was.
"Zer0. Want to share the last guy? If not, I can wait out if you want to play." Axton offered as he glanced at the card, trying to read as much as he could from the car before sliding it over to his assassin ally.
Despite people not being able to see it, Zer0 read most of the card and nodded to the leader of the group. "Sure." Was all he said as he moved his chair to sit next to Axton. It wouldn't be good if they shared the came 'character' but sat on opposite ends of the table.
"So, if everyone's ready, roll for initiative!"
"What?"
Gaige sighed as Maya spoke up. She didn't want to have to print out the rules for her, but it seemed that it was necessary. "We all roll the two dice and whoever gets the highest total number gets to go first. Usually, it's the highest to lowest on the first roll, but who ever gets the highest number will go first, then everyone will roll again to see who gets the nest highest number, and so on until the order is complete."
With an understanding nod, Maya slid the dice over to Gaige and watched as she rolled them on the board of the planet that their 'characters' would be exploring. Several minutes went by and the order was decided.
Gaige got 35,
Axton and Zer0 got 30,
Salvadore for 20,
And Maya of 3.
Maya groaned as she got the lowest total by far, but knew she couldn't back out from the game.
