GreenGoat said A tank? We can requisition a tank? I don't suppose non mech pilots can use them, can they?

Yes, non-pilots can use requisitioned vehicles. Pilots will unlock additional vehicle "slots" later on that they can use to add additional, customized vehicles to their garage.

GreenGoat said Also, that Project ALPHA looks interesting. What sort of powersuits are we looking at tho? Ironman? The marines from Star Craft?

Neither, yet. The power suits you're looking at right now are more like minor mechanical apperatus on a regular suit of heavy kevlar with a small battery pack strapped to the back. Further upgrades will add armour and more mechanical parts, slowly turning you into a mini-mech basically, which I suppose would look sorta like...

...Got the general idea of how far the tech level can go in this now?

GreenGoat said NANOMACHINES, SON.

I know this reference.

Holmishire said My quick off-the-top-of-my-head ordering for development and research. I noticed most of these seem non-pilot oriented, though I guess that's why we have our scrap.

Sorta kinda. A lot of it is also that these are baseline techs that lead to bigger things. Think of it more like stepping stones. Sure, ALPHA and OMEGA focus on power armour, but at some point, that power armour is going to need some sort of stabalizer upgrade that pilots can profit from, or nanomachines might take a turn to structural reinforcement, which pilots could use, or NTAP might get a beacon variety that only pilots could equip, etc.

I think the reason people are going for firestarter so much is that it's been shown that fire burns the orange goop, stopping mutants from regenerating.

My general philosophy is that lethality>durability. Why risk getting injured/taking hits when you can get the firepower to destroy the enemy before it has the chance to hurt you? Course, it's not always black and white like that, but that's how I try to reason things.

My largest concern right now is that NTAP 2.0 seems to not be getting much love.

Research
--#1: Project OMEGA
--#2: Project NANO
--#3: Project VARIABLE STRUCTURE
--#4: Project FIRE STARTER
--#5: Project NTAP 2.0

Being hurt less and healing faster are main priorities for me. From what I can tell in the first mission, either you get wounded and could do with some healing or you're just fucked. Everyone benefits from extra protection and better healing tech.

Hitting harder comes later, so fire weapons and bigger mechs can wait. When it comes to NTAP, I'm extremely wary about these unknown effects the upgrade offers.

Development
--#1: Project LEGIONAIRE
--#2: Project SHIELD
--#3: Project ALPHA
--#4: Project MECHANICAL WARHORSE
--#5: Project PLUSHIE

Unlike Research, the Development side of things is more current and will help us sooner rather than later. This means, to me, that better defenses are a huge focus on my choices in this list. Armor upgrades are good, and Project SHIELD's important for two of our mission's three teams as well as anyone in general.

ALPHA and MECHANICAL WARHORSE are both big helps, but can wait. PLUSHIE doesn't fit our next mission at all, so that's the bottom of my list.

Raen has some pretty good logic there, and I agree with him for the most part. Too much focus one area or another will hamper our results. I'm not 100% sure what the best options are for this round, since they all look like decent options, but I don't want to change my vote lest I trigger a voting war or something.

I put SHIELD first because, well let's face it, if one of our mech units gets possessed by an angry shapeshifter I don't see good things happening. MECHANICAL WARHORSE is more of a "this is a nice upgrade for everyone, let's go with that", though it helps me as well with the Dexterity option. After reading Raen's comments though, I'd say it and LEGIONAIRE are tied in my book.

For Research...well I'll be blunt I just want the VARIABLE STRUCTURE as soon as possible to upgrade to a medium mech (although I thought we already had those, just not for those low on the totem pole). NTAP 2.0 is probably a good idea to at least research. Personally I think FIRESTARTER is a bit silly for this initial point, there are far more useful things on the chopping block right now. Whatever floats the boat I guess.

Next round, I'm wanting to go full on defense, to make up somewhat for the more offensive upgrades we are getting this round. Project LEGIONAIRE and ALPHA are my top picks for next round. Wanting to fit in NANO and if at all possible, VARIABLE STRUCTURE as well, so we'd need to collect a lot of intact scrap. Research is more or less up in the air, don't want to get too ahead of myself.

Just some random thoughts.

EDIT: Perfect example is what happened to the guy who tried to eat a chainsaw and lost. He shot the mutant with his shotgun, and it did nothing. Then he died, because he underestimated the Mutants ability to take the shot and keep going, and thus the Mutant lobotomized him.

Holy Shit, Raen, that's great that you mentioned the incident and I remember that! If I remember correctly, it was Melonhead's character that ate the chainsaw/wolf mutants and ... I remember telling Melonhead; I told him, I farking tooooooold him to coordinate with Kadaeux, Jorick, and Limey to concentrate on the Wolves for a combined arms approach instead of executing a mondo Power Roleplay. What did he say? That standing in close proximity of Brucie and Daniel's flamethrowers would incinerate both Chris and Nathaniel. I mean ... not that Chris' death was entirely his fault; Brovo ultimately froze up Jorick's character and afterwards, Melonhead's character just ate it. That could've certainly happened to Peter during the last mission, but I'd like to think that team work and combined arms brings out force multipliers with a paltry crew. I believe that playing to our strengths would put some serious hurt on whatever we face, but we would also need to be careful with our matchups. Balance is good, but in the end; we all sacrificed something for a certain build type!

By the way, here is my vote:

#3: Alpha
#4: Legionaire
