Arthur Pendragon really only got into this private school because of his father owning it, sure; he played football and so he helped with the schools sports division but if it weren't for that he never would have passed a single class. Still, focused on only his physical performance his academics were paying for it, and now his father had gone and payed the poor kid in the school to tutor him; the whole set up was completely ridiculous in his opinion. But apparently his opinion didn't matter in the eyes of his father, Uthur Pendragon, owner of the Pendragon private school.
Arthur was sitting in his bedroom in the manor he lived in with his father, and until recently his sister had lived here as well before she moved out to live with one of her friends Gwen in the city, Arthur was most upset by this news but months later, now he was adjusting, if you could call it that, but no matter, he was waiting for the boy, Merlin, to show up. This was not how he wanted to be spending his Saturday afternoon, but it wasn't like he could help it. So, he would just have to suffer through it.

Merlin trudged up the hill, because of course Pendragon mansion had to be at the very peak of a huge freaking hill, and hefted his backpack up higher on his shoulders. He moved as slowly as possible, trying to drag out his free and sanity for as long as he could. But all too soon he was at the front doors-'so freaking huge is that even necessary?- with a butler opening it slightly to see him. With a small nod and a step to the side, the butler waved him in. Merlin shifted his feet and pushed his glasses further up his nose, as they'd slid down during his hike up to the mansion. He awkwardly sidestepped the butler and waited for him the close the door.

"Follow me, sir." The butler called, already walking away. With a sigh, Merlin followed him through a few halls and a set of stairs, coming upon a door that looked slightly more ornate than the others. The butler knocked. "Young Master, the tutor your father hired is here." And then the butler walked away. Merlin looked after him with a grim expression. He couldn't say no to Mr. Pendragon when he was given the proposition. Not because it was a lot of money- because it actually wasn't- but because you don't say no to the person who pays for your scholarship. As he heard shuffling behind the door, Merlin tried his best to cover up the withering glare he always sported when surrounded by all things rich. Especially this prat, who he of course knew about. He knew his type to. Arrogant, selfish, and annoying.

He really didn't want to be here.

The shuffling Merlin had heard was Arthur as he sat up from his seat and walked over to his overly large bed, flopping down onto it and burring his head in the pillows, the butler has rung up to his intercom and told him that Merlin was here and he guessed he must be on his way up now, if not already by his door.
He felt like he wanted to throw a fit; even if he had not thrown a fit since he was a small child and he knew how stupid it would look for an almost of age boy to throw things around and yell- he really saw no other option to his predicament, sighing he decided against it and instead just called out-
"Well, come in then, my father isn't paying you his good money for you to stand outside my door," figuring that Merlin must be out there by now, probably waiting for Arthur to let him in his room, like he was going to get up and do that.

It wasn't that he didn't want to learn, or even that he didn't want Merlin to be the one to teach him, he honestly couldn't care less who it was, his problem was how this would effect his athletic practicing time, his father had said no more football until his grades were up, and feeling like football was the only thing he was good at- or would ever be good at, he saw his chances of ever playing again very slim.
Burrowing his head down into the pillows, effectively messing up his tidy hair, he waited for his 'tutor' to enter.

"He's barely paying me at all." He mumbled. Merlin glared at the doorknob before opening it and stepping into the room, where Arthur was pouting into a pillow. Well, sorry your highness-" and those last two words were generously doused in sarcasm, "-but usually it's considered rude to open someone else's door. That's why the host is supposed to open it on his own terms. Perhaps I should tutor you in manners as well." He scoffed, sitting down in the chair he pulled out from Arthur's desk. The seventeen year old pulled two text books and waved one in each hand.

"Now, do you want to start on Chemistry or Literature? I'm not even about to get into College Algebra 2 with you yet." Merlin drawled. He certainly wasn't about to go easy on the Prince of the Academy, and the fact that he had to tutor the prat in three subjects certainly didn't help his mood. He'll be here for 2 hours today, one hour per subject, and three hours the other days once they get into College Algebra 2. He groaned internally. After this he had to go to his actual job and then help Gaius out.

'At least we don't have to take history this year...'

"Yes but he still paying you, so why are you complaining?" Arthur quipped, sighing into his pillow he turned around and sat up, his blonde hair now messy and he attempted to flatten it, he really didn't want to be doing this, to stoop so low as to having Merlin teach him? This was going to ruin him, this boy was lower class than most of his butlers and servants.

"...Literature I suppose, Chemistry is boring." He sighed again, now standing up out of his bed.
His outfit was rather plain despite being rich enough to afford any fashion taste, simply a white tshirt and blue jeans, a simple, casual outfit.
"Let's get this over with then, shall we?"

Merlin scoffed and pushed his glasses back up his nose, pulling out his literature book and opening to the current section. "Have you at least been reading King Lear?" He asked doubtfully. "If not, that's what we'll be spending this hour on. I'll read it out loud like you're a child if that's what it takes." He patronized the blonde.
