I have a single question here, does your rank determine power or can you be powerful without the rank?

I ask because most bleach RPs make it seem like you need the rank to be significantly powerful (based on bleach perception. If you don't have a rank, you can't even have a Shikai or Bankai. And I always found it backwards like you need to be captain before you get Bankai and that is nothif it works. Having Bankai does not make you a captain, you need one to qualify, unless you are Kenpachi from Zaraki, at that point, you only need to exist and you can become captain, but I digress. (I'm aware he killed the previous squad 11 captain to get his spot)

Rank usually determines your power, some cases in which it doesn't (I.e Kenta isn't in the Gotei 13 but is stronger than your average Lieutenant) but I doubt someone would start at a Lieutenant level while being unseated....So rank determines your power unless you have a good reason for them to be stronger than where they sit (Going canon this instant, Yumichika is Lieutenant level but is 5th seat because the symbol is pretty)

Well depends on the situation really but mainly, if you're in the Gotei 13 then your rank kinda determines how much power you have and how much you can get so, for instance, if you're 5th seat, your power level is at 5th seat level however you can be a level higher, so your power level can grow to 4th seat level even though your 5th seat, then you'd be promoted to the higher seat ^_^ However, you can have power without a rank but not too much o.O Really if you have ideas that include that, it's best to PM the GM Kurisa and tell him your idea ^_^
