The only problem with this I don't know what Gods have champions and which don't and none of the gods appeal to the characters I usually play. I don't mind creating a new character but I am having a hard time making one for the Gods we have.

There aren't any champions yet. I mean there are some that have plans. Like Lyah for example. But there haven't been sacrifices yet. Those start now.

Who's Awhatama? He claims to be the grandson of Mawhiti, so is he a deity himself? Do any of the other gods know him?

He's a servitar. Angel, whatever you want to call it. Like your Iron-clad giants, standing at 3 meters tall, and Gryphons.
He's not that big a deal compared to the gods.

Every god has servitars, they serve as extensions of themselves to perform tasks or bring messages etc. In that effect they act much like the judochristian angels.
They often have little personality or own will. Mawhiti's servitars have more freedom than most would, on account of his domain being free will and all.
Yes this makes Mawhiti's angels unmanageable and rebellious, but that's funny to me.

Most servitars and monsters created by their gods they consider themselves children of their god. Like how Fenrir and Sleipnir are Loki's children. But Fenrir isn't a god or angel, he is a mythological figure.

In this case, Mawhiti is using a small servitar to bring the message. The servitar mentions how his father is the Storm Tyrant. A powerful mythological creature created by Mawhiti. Āwhātama is very proud and brash. Most servitars will be more polite.

So to answer your question, none of the humans know Āwhātama. Some of the humans might have heard of the Storm Tyrant, the bringer of storms. A massive elder elemental that leaves nothing but destruction in it's path. But to most he is myth. I like foreshadowing, still a little clumsy at it sometimes.
Your god might know who Āwhātama is but wouldn't likely care. He'd know who the Storm Tyrant is and regard him as "A nuisance" rather than a threat.

So our gods are aware of the challenges presented by Mawhiti/Awhatama?

They are now :)

So now the gods go and make up ways to test rival champions.
Once they have their idea and there are a few champions, they will open a gate to their domain.
Champions are adviced to enter in groups of 3.

Portfolio: domain of Mountains, Mining and smithing.
Alignment: Lawful Good
Servitars: Most of the Dwarves and sometimes dragons

Animal: The Dragon
An animal of treasures that has a natural attraction to the mountains. It is said that Montis chooses a dragon once in so-many years to aid him in heating his metals to intense temperatures. And learns them to handle ancient power. The rest of the dragons help te dwarves and in return they recieve gifts im the shape of jewels. Montis keeps up peace between these races and the dragons see him as the biggest god.

People and dwarves with any sort of interest in smithing and mining will be heard by Montis.

I'm confused: are dwarves servitars (aka: extensions of the gods) or animals (just like humans are animals)?

Edit: Same for dragons on that note.

Apart from that confusion: awesome!

I had a plot thingy in mind for that, they are animals like humans are. But at a certain age they can choose to become servitars as an extention of the god.

Hmm I made a HUUGE post.. I thought it was smaller, I'll keep the rest a little shorter.
Also if you see it twice, the first one is the good one, but my phone often bugs as I post, and my pc is broken so I can't work on that.. that is the reason you might see it twice..
Apologies for all the inconveniences!

Wodgev there is no way you could have heard those words. My domain is a closed personal space. No scrying possible. I see what you try to do, but your motivation can't be those words and feelings at this point in time.

Oh, right. I see. My confusion came because she's talking about the fires as if they're there.
Ehm... the wind can still pick up, and it'll only become relevant when she returns to the mortal realm, after which it could just happen to be relevant. I'll remove the official reason.
